  1. Game of his life probably. He's hardly scoring for fun in the Championship is he? Smith & Viduka have done the business........................
  2. Seems like this thread has turned into a sqaud question. The squad is shit & that is down to BS. I find it hard to believe how many on here thought we'd had a good pre-season with our signings. KK should get as long as it takes; even if we do go down. To get another manager in would simply cause more unrest. The timing of BS's sacking was wrong, it made it very hard for KK to get players in. It seems he devoted much of his time on Woody & missed out & he clearly couldn't have realised how crap we were all over the park. What also must be asked is what is really going on with our owner? He has stepped away from the spotlight but what is he doing? Is he planning for his future with us or without us? I hope it is planning with us or there is more pain to come. Our next 4 games define our season. Time to stop bickering & blaming luck & a rotten run of fixtures; this is it time to perform.
  3. How come Barnsley have got a better target man than us? Caused massive problems all game.
  4. Reading picking up 3 points was a bigger disappointment today; we were never going to get anything today. We need to make sure we don't lose at Brum & beat Fulham, Reading and the Mackems at home. If we go into the last 2 games needing points we may be fucked. Let's make sure it doesn't come to that.
  5. or going to the Emirates last year without a ticket & ending up watching Orient play Yeovil (0-0), going in the Yeovil end by mistake (no beer) & being led into the Orient part of the main stand and past the tunnel as the players were running out! Telling the locals, when asked about the game, that it was park football & drinking beer in their kind of portacabin bar in the stand. Toon drew 1-1 & getting very funny looks when we shouted when we'd heard Dyer had scored. I'd have been in real trouble had the walk passed the tunnel been on Soccer AM 3rd eye as our lass still thinks I went to the Emirates and was a bit worried as that Russian guy had been poisoned that week & had been to the ground!!
  6. Only football could conspire to produce such an usual travel experience as that. Sounds like Toon Travel. We found a bar just down from the hotel & spent so much money on Sangria & spent so much time in the bar the owner ended up letting us make our own & pay what we wanted. Being interviewed for Newcastle World on the beach on a sunny Magaluf morning in my shorts playing keepy uppies & 3 goals & in with my 2 mates. Got to the ground quite early, went down a side road near the ground found 2 bars with old locals in, free tapas (sardines heads mostly) & drinking as much funny looking liquers we could see & paying peanuts for it (they may as well have been giving away the stuff). That bloke playing keepy uppy in the ground (who ate all the pies) & the Toon subs getting told off at HT for trying to kick the balls into our end. And a beach ball.
  7. Owen is great at taking half chances, where there is less pressure to score & where he has less time & just reacts to the chance presented. In situations where he has time to think his goal per chance ratio is poor. If he was a the complete goal scorer he'd take penalties, he tried that & missed too many. Martins is similar but he has a better work rate & unlike Owen is a tthreat outside the box & can create a chance for himself.

We were very leggy last 20 minutes yday. Not fit enough.
  9. Or we could be talking about the hat trick that he'd just scored. Bottom line is that Owen missed too many chances yday & has missed too many of that type this season.
  10. Barton was awful but did put Owen through. We didn't win 'cos Owen missed a host of chances & his finishing on the ground has been abysmal all season. Don't blame anyone else for this defeat. 17M should get you a player who is able to take at least 1 chance in 5.
  11. They both like to play off the last defender & make similar runs. Martins does a bit more with the ball & works harder. They may be better individually than say Shola but as a partnership - no - the fact is that it is team game & you need players that compliment the team. 10 George Best's & Peter Shilton would win jack shit. Would be fun though.
  12. Man City, that's the one; came on at half time, 5 seconds in clean through, opened his body & passed it to the keeper.
  13. The fact is one of them has to start, preferable with Viduka or Shola, & of the two Martins offers more. Owen is a player who thrives in a team that creates loads of chances & where he can afford to miss. We bought him to take chances & the fact is he has missed an awful lot more than he has taken. He has scored half chances & headers; he has missed chances that quite frankly I would have taken in my Saturday afternoon footballing days & chances that I would have been dropped for if I'd missed. I might sound full of shit but I'd take myself on against Owen with 10 1 on 1's from a 25 yard run in on the keeper. The fact that I can even say that is frightening.

    Alan Smith

Giving a 100% when you are shite isn't good enough for us.
  15. Have a word with yourself Madras; he missed them both so he didn't do everything right. Like he also missed against Wigan in the same position (& Everton? too when he came on as half time sub with his first touch). Take a look at the goals he has scored of late, fox in the box or headers, decent chances on the deck & he has missed. The real sad thing is that Martins is no better at putting that type of chance in. the header was aswell hit as he could have, the side footer was as ronaldos last week in the same position...if harper had saved that you'd have wet your knicks. f***** up for the one in the first half like i said. The header was looped & didn't have the power to go in, but it was a far better effort than his piss poor shots. The side foot was nothing like ronaldos (he scored for a start) & I would have expected Harper to have read the fucking match program & still saved it. Look at previous games, keepers do, MO with a 1 on 1 coming in from the left of the box = open your body up & shoot weakly to the other corner. Time & time again. The chance in the first half was no where near as good as the one he missed in the second.
  16. Have a word with yourself Madras; he missed them both so he didn't do everything right. Like he also missed against Wigan in the same position (& Everton? too when he came on as half time sub with his first touch). 17. Who Duff? Hit the first man with 5 set pieces in the first 9 minutes an didnt improve thereafter. Duff did alright, messed up a few corners, missed a good chance (watch the replays he couldn't hit it first time but certainly went for the wrong corner of the goal; & would have missed). Want to blame one person? 17 Million for a goal scorer; Michael Owen you had a shitter. Barton; very poor but didn't hide, Duff; missed a great chance, poor corners, lucky to be picked ahead of Zog but did ok, Smith, 100 % again but not good enough, Michael fucking Owen; here's an idea, when 1 on 1 with a goal keeper do not open your body up 2 seconds before you shoot it is like a fucking huge neon sign of where you are going to place the ball & what's more it is always where you do try to place the ball. I could fucking throw my hat on the your shots when you are 1 on 1. FUCK OFF.
  18. We need to score first at home and today was the epitome of players not being able to take a chance. Duff bottled a great chance in the first half & Owen, for all his goals, is as bad a Bellamy when it comes to 1 on 1's. He can take half chances, in the box, but when the pressue is on he misses the majority of 1 on 1's. Fact. There was a foul on Zog for the goal, but our defence went awol & Derbyshire took a chance that we had been missing all afternoon & most of the season. Can we go down. Yes, too bloody right we can, we lost a game today when the opposition didn't turn up. The crowd stayed with the team all match. Bottom line; we need luck to stay up & someone to start scoring goals. Paul Goddard where are you?
  19. MA will be wishing he'd got rid of BS as soon as he took over. We'd have a different set of players & he wouldn't have had to play the bring back KK shit or bust card.
  20. We need to score first & to do that we need to score & to do that we need to create or get lucky Err we need to get lucky - very lucky, very lucky indeed. I'm having several pints before the match, for the nerves & I find it brings luck.
  21. KK is reaping what BS sowed. We were in false position after lucky, late, points against Wigan, Fulham, Birmingham, Derby...............
  22. BS's signings have not come good & his tactics were never going to win the fans over. He failed miserably in getting in a decent midfiled & the failure to add a target man was unforgiveable - Viduka & Ameobi as options was never going to be enough. He got rid of better players in midfield than he replaced with: Dyer, Parker, Solano replaced by Barton, Smith, Geremi. FFS. Yes all 3 wanted to go but the quality of replacements was woeful.
