He’d just blown by then, VVD is pointing to the ref and had stopped. He wouldn’t have covered the run through the middle. Awful refereeing. Special mention to VVD and his constant moaning to the referee and cowardly barge into Gordon. On another day his dislocates or breaks a jaw, Gordon was completely blindsided.

Liverpool player doesn’t touch the ball, it deviates because Isak moved it away with the outside of his boot. There’s daylight between the 2 boots when Isak moves the ball. Was pretty close to us and the impact on Isak’s thigh was considerable. Pen all day. Also agree that Salah was different level 2nd half but he fouled Hall almost every time the ball was on its way to him. You can’t just push or nudge to unbalance your defender with your hands to gain an advantage. It’s little, it’s clever but when you do it every time it needs pulled up.

He played like he was shit scared of picking up a yellow card and missing the Liverpool game. I’d have taken him off tbh.

Just need an Arsenal sending off followed by 2 more WH goals

Dear me our West Ham performance isn’t looking good.

Blackburn’s goal looked well off.
-
Thought defender’s boot played him on there.

I think away teams get a psychological boost by changing ends, I’ve not seen it happen so often. Can’t remember but when The Leazes End was the home end I’d imagine we kicked towards that end 2nd half. Perhaps need to look at some old Shoot videos. We certainly did in SuperMacs debut, the abandoned Notts Forest cup tie & McFaul running away from the goal when the Rangers fans invaded the pitch in the Fairs Cup semi final.

He certainly liked playing. Canny side at the old Washington Grammar School if you’ve got Howard Kendall playing alongside you. One of his many cousins lived 2 doors down from us. She went down to visit him in London one time and he had a couple of Page 3 girls in his gaff.

Aye, didn’t count as a SOT either; great.

That foul on Palmer was a red all day. Old fashioned reducer, can’t fathom what VAR were looking at.

We’ve just got to stay inside the city. The pubs are rammed, food joints get great business and the fans are used to this being the norm. It’s pretty unique and is great for the city. Take that away and especially during midweek games and poor onfield performances folk will be less bothered about going. It might start sold out and do so for a few years but it will lose its appeal. If we’re going to do it let’s build a statement stadium as close to SJP as we can and get as much use out of it as we can. Surely the City Council can see the huge benefits over an extended number of years. Get it right and everyone can be happy.

Who was the last Newcastle player to score for England before tonight?

Wtf is the ref on, was that Walker now?

There’s some Forest (and a load of Mackems) fans reckoning Forest got a bit of a rub deal today….. If that’d been Carroll or Mitro and not Yates he’d be serving a 3 game ban. You can’t look at your target, elbow it and get away with it. There was no protecting element; it was a pre meditated elbow to the face. Oh, and Willock’s was a clear penalty.

He needs to become Longstaff in his work rate and tenacity. The undeniable truth is that we’re more balanced with Longstaff and it’s all about that little extra “effort”. It’s difficult to put a finger on it but it’s just there. Call it a water carrier, dirty work or whatever, but it’s crucial. Bruno hasn’t got the game for it, neither does Jo, Tonali has and if he does we will be so much better. On a separate but related note; a fit, confident, Willock makes such a difference. He’s the one player who can glide past a player from midfield at pace and make a run into space. Reminds me a little of Dyer, not as dynamic with his running but certainly offers something different.

Hoddle knows his stuff….
-
Hoddle on glue. Player forgot he was on a yellow apparently, also thinks there’s another goal in this for Spuds. It could be 7/8 already.

One thing that’s noticeable is his improved stamina. He was blowing out his arse after 60 mins last season. Don’t know if it’s just match fitness through regular game time, which is huge, but, he looked like a 90 minute player today. He made an absolutely crucial interception around 85 mins in the middle of goals which last season he wouldn’t have even attempted to close down. He said he doesn’t seem himself as a FB, he can be and he needs to embrace it. He’s a young lad he has loads of time to develop his position.

MOTM for me today. Did all of the dirty work superbly.
-
His pre match drill always has him catching crosses and also involves a coach blocking him. Opposition sides seem to have decided it is a weakness, especially with corners.

We looked a better shape when Longstaff came on and Longstaff did harder yards than Tonali and it showed. Howe needs to find a way to make a midfield with Tonali in it to work. We can’t be having a situation where we are missing Longstaff simply because of work rate and ball recovery. That’s where we are at the moment.
