Re VAR, we are they giving a running commentary, that must be really confusing? Just start speaking when there’s an incident to look at. They’re pretty easy to pick out. That audio is horrendous, all it was missing was John Anderson laughing in the background. No wonder they got themselves confused.

That’s really just admitting he was endangering an opponent with an intentional action. They’d be better off saying he was going for the ball and unintentionally caught the player because of the point of contact with the ball. Regardless of either he endangered the player intentionally or through lack of control.

Check Complete is asking for trouble. Surely the ref has to say goal/ offside/ handball for whatever the onfield decision is and VAR reply say goal/ offside etc? You can’t just say check complete

I was in the Clock Stand paddock next to the Fulwell End. There were a good few Newcastle fans in there, felt we were the better team that day, especially up to the their goal.
