Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

Booked for Dortmund. Absolute nightmare, had 6 browsers open, thought I’d booked by 9am for 3 of us only to discover that I’d put in December and not November with no cancellation. £400 down before 9am and now flying from Edinburgh and trains to and from Amsterdam. The wife isn’t happy. -

We’re going to get a stinker here -
Haha, note self, remember predictive text makes you see what you want to see. I’ll just leave unedited; I quite like it ?.

From what Eddie has said I get the feeling some of the players on the pitch might have unintentionally become inhabited. Eddie has said he wanted to go for a 2nd goal which was undoubtedly the right thing to do. Somewhere along the line the way to do this got lost out on the pitch. I’m pretty sure if we’d have playing against the same 10 players and have called them say Fulham/ insert the name of another non top 4 side, we’d have managed the game far better. Strange as it is, that loss hurt more than the League Cup final for me. The loss in the final was absolute classic Ncle, yesterday’s loss was self inflicted.

There were 2 occasions in the 1st half where he couldn’t challenge Gordon in case he mistimed a tackle and Gordon simply ran past him. It didn’t happen again as we started playing the ball in front of the Liverpool defenders and perhaps unintentionally we stepped off the pace. Eddie won’t sleep tonight and rightly so.
-
I think what is most disappointing is that when they went down to 10 men we didn’t put Trent under any pressure. He was 1 foul away from a 2nd yellow (albeit he should have been sent off before VVD). I’d have pinged everything to Gordon and looked to have used out extra man in and around Trent at every opportunity. Poor day at the office, Howe had his head in his hands when the winner went in. Have to learn from this.

There’s no need for a witch hunt but we have to be better. We played the name again today - Liverpool - it cost us the 3 points.
-
We were far too conservative against their 10 men and played right into there. Two awful defensive goals to concede. We have to learn from this, against 10 men you have to go for a 2nd goal. If they score at least give yourself time to go for another. We got it so wrong, you could feel in the ground what was coming. We have to lose the small team mentality against the sides we historically struggle against.

He was fucking woeful. I watched a couple of preseason games and couldn’t quite believe how bad he was. I’ve had the pleasure of watching the likes of Billy Rafferty, Rob McDonald and Bobby Shinton and can say that Rivière was by far the most out of depth in relation to his other team mates that I can recall. Not including Doumbia in this ‘cos that was just wrong. Centre Forward 26 games, 1 goal (only scored as he slipped taking a shot v QPR). Rivière is without doubt the worst centre forward v what was expected that I’ve ever seen. There’ll be a thread somewhere on here where I watched his 1st preseason game and have been absolutely astonished by his (and McLaren) performance.

Any fucker puts blue trim on our home shirt can get to fuck. Has absolutely no place on a home shirt. It honestly hurts my eyes.

Just had an email from the club saying UEFA have decided to have 1st dibs on my seat for the home games. The club will let me know around a week before games whether UEFA will be taking up their option to use my seat. If they don’t then I can sit in my seat and if they do the club will offer my somewhere else (refunding any money if the other seat is cheaper, doesn’t say what happens if it’s dearer). If I don’t like it I can just opt out of the ticket scheme, and not go to any of the games………. -
Need to tell Adidas that our home strip numbers are RED.

Really good goal that. Looked off mind. -
Anyone know what “acceptable” photo ID was accepted?

Probs been mentioned; we looked a bit like we played the occasion and not the match. In the big moments we fluffed our lines, Bruno with his scuffed stud roll set up and Wilson completely messing up what should have been a gifted equaliser with an awful touch. Eddie and his staff will have a very detailed analysis of the game. We have to truly believe we can get something out of these games. Our record away at the top sides is shocking.

My dad absolutely adored Len White.

Definitely handball but trying to say it’d have been offside if Ayling was behind the goal line just shows the commentators don’t have a scooby. You can’t just step off the pitch as last man and claim offside.

Just need to comment that I can’t think of a time where our squad has looked so strong. We actually look equipped to at least compete on most fronts. If this summer’s signings are hits then, assuming we do ok this season, next summer’s signings will hopefully elevate the squad to serious Top 4/5 status.

My defence of Mings, James, Stones and Dias working out well.

Pep more or less pleading for the crowd to help them tmrw.

That’s madness and does nothing for women’s football. The league either decide to postpone the game or you just get on with it.

Seems like a lovely bloke but, we need to get his wages off the books. If he wasn’t on so much we could probably keep him.

Wow, if that’s how she genuinely feels she’s a star. I’d sign Tonali just for her outlook on life. Go 20 minutes north of Newcastle and if you love the outdoors you’re in heaven, more so if you don’t mind the weather.
