If this happens it’s all down to Chelsea having to try and balance books and the player having Newcastle ties. It simply doesn’t happen otherwise. Stars aligning.
  2. Anyone know if you can transfer an away digital ticket to someone in your family and friends group?
  3. Haha, was a team from Houghton in a pretty average Sunday League.
  4. That burgundy and blue kit looks fake, colours aren’t right and the collar colour was cream. As an aside I played centre forward for a team that had the home and away Greenall’s 1st team kits as our kit (Newcastle 1st team had used them them the season before). We played a few times at Benwell and I scored a hat trick in my 1st game wearing the Number 9 shirt. Claim to fame right there.
  5. He’s been looking at houses in Darras.
  6. It reminded me of when Ederson cleaned out Fraser and nothing was given. It’s just not a “normal” contact. The keeper is nowhere near the ball and takes a player out. There’s no separate rule or consideration for a keeper. Imagine a centre half missing the ball by that distance and cleaning out a centre forward. Instant yellow card.
  7. Rarely seen a less deserved win; which I’m assuming it will be
  8. TBF he could have been sent to The Blacksmith Arms never to be seen again.
  9. Alan Brown scored 3 goals in 5 games for us on a very short loan from Sunderland. He was seriously rapid and alongside Varadi they looked a real threat. We didn’t extend the loan/ try to buy him. He went back to Sunderland and didn’t play much more for them. No idea what went on.
  10. Is it only me that thinks Cucurella is pretty poor defensively and flatters to deceive going forward? He also seems to get caught out of position far too often.
  11. I think Emery was perhaps a little too confident that his side could impose their style and dictate/ dominate us in midfield. They battered us at Villa Park, where Longstaff was out, Bruno clearly injured and we fell into their trap of being dragged too far up the field and leaving gaping holes in the middle. In preseason they also dominated early on against a pretty weak Newcastle defence. They got caught cold yesterday. Emery didn’t try and change what was a glaring problem with their high line and the turnover our press was causing just inside our own half. We really could have scored 8.
  12. Just a couple of observations, the Lino at the Gallowgate was absolutely woeful the 1st half, seriously bad. Madley; let Cash kick Gordon all over the place and then eventually booked him for a clear yellow on its own. Villa player on a yellow pulls Newcastle player down by grabbing the back of shirt, no second yellow and Newcastle player booked for simulating a card. And, the most annoying, after yet another pretty cynical foul at the end of the 1st half Madley punishes us by blowing for HT as the free kick is in flight into their box. Really, you winding us up?
  13. We’ve been functional and organised. Can’t say more than that; we were a far better team in the Euros. We’ve also been massively lucky,
  14. We’ll, if that’s true about Chelsea then Liverpool should just bid 116M and let Chelsea up their bid to 120M. They got Trigger doing their negotiating?
  15. Some journalist lauding Liverpool got out negotiating Chelsea for Caicedo; what by saying here there’s 111M to Brighton? Great negotiating. I’ve no idea why he’s that expensive, we’ll soon find out though. I hope Liverpool have a stinker of a season again after they’re whinging and then simply going out throwing dollar all over the place. Poor little Liverpool.
  16. Well, Klopp can completely shut the fuck up now he’s using oil money to find 111M for Caciedo. That’s mental money.
  17. An athletic, genuinely quick CB would be my wish. Not easy to come by, it would plug a bit of a weakness we have against certain sides. If we get caught out of shape and face quick transition we’re relatively easy to get in behind against quick players. As a defensive unit, there is a lack of pace. You can’t rely on positional play and reading of the game all of the time. We had a great defensive record last season. I’d fully expect other managers to have been working hard to identity why.
  18. McGinn and Buendia are particularly good shithouses when it comes to throwing themselves to the ground with the slightest touch or pull. With the new directives for referees Big Jo will be in the book within 20 mins. There’ll be no 2nd chances or arguing it’s a 1st foul. We’ll need to be very disciplined.
  19. I agree with this. Moyes absolutely loves a set piece.
