  1. Man U looking far too organised and disciplined for my liking. Could do with Rashford, Fernandes and Casemiro all picking up knocks.
  2. Get out of jail card. Think it was handball mind.
  3. Complete lack of composure at the moment. Keep the ball ffs, stop inviting them on
  4. Ref guessed and I guess there was no absolute conclusive proof. It doesn’t hit is arm, the ball hits his midriff and bounces forward, there’s secondary movement on the ball.
  5. First 20 mins will be huge. In the league game we easily could have been behind by then.
  6. 19, should have followed gut feeling for the wrong one.

Are there any stats on how many goals come from a keeper’s distribution? I’m guessing it’s very low. Similarly, how many goals are conceded by poor distribution (and, how many are from keepers who think they can play)? Pope is going to earn us perhaps 10 points a season in this form. He’s made a couple of fumbles and let in 1 dodgy goal from memory. Can’t underestimate how much we’ve benefited in getting him in ahead of Henderson and in place of Dubs. IMO, Dubs gets nowhere near that shot.
  8. If we get to Wembley gotta hope Rashford/ Fernandes are injured.
  9. Be really interesting how Soton approach this. They caused us problems early on in the league game but we then picked them off. This game could be anything. Absolutely vital we avoid conceding early.
  10. I can only assume Joe’s finishing is absolutely lethal in training. If not he needs an extra 30 mins every day practicing, he hits a pass far truer than he ever shoots. We also need to work on our heading generally and particularly in the opposition box. We’re a big side and our attacking heading is woeful. We’re getting to a position where fine margins will determine our progress. We’re no longer getting as much space to hit teams on the counter and the Bruno/ Almiron/ Tripps combination is well known by now. Let’s see what we come up with. A couple of good signings could make a huge difference to our ability to change things up. If I was Eddie I’d be knocking doors down to get a couple of new faces in.
  11. We’re not getting the opportunity to hit teams on the counter attack as much. We’re getting more possession but struggling to unpick defences. It’s something we need to work on, we need to learn different ways to win games. We didn’t really cause Palace that many problems.
  12. I’d be putting him on the bench unless there’s no swelling whatsoever and minimal bruising. Can’t be taking any risks ahead of Tuesday.
  13. I remember being told we had a deal agreed before we’d signed Trippier. Henderson also said he’d agreed terms but he (Henderson) apparently changed his mind in favour of a loan as he thought with a new manager at Man U he might get a chance. I’m quite pleased we missed on Lingaard and absolutely delighted we ended up with Pope.
  14. Some great stories here. Would be great if the club held back a small number of tickets every game for fans who live over a certain number of miles away and could get to 1 or 2 games a season. I know you can get these through Membership but that doesn’t guarantee a ticket.
  15. We’re building for the future, you don’t let Wood go and don’t back fill, good god I hope not. You can hope that Wilson stays fit but, it’s unlikely, you could also put Jo up front and hope he’s magically turned into a natural centre forward and finisher. We’re surely not that club anymore. I’ll be very disappointed if a replacement, one for the future by all means, isn’t brought in. As much as I love Wilson, he’s not going to be the future.
  16. It makes no sense at all to loan Wood out if we’re not getting a replacement in. Wilson will miss more games, Isak will start up top, where’s the option from the bench? Not saying we need top top quality sitting on the bench but we can’t be asking ASM/ Murphy to come on and do a job there. I can’t believe Howe would think letting Wood go in those circumstances makes any sense at all.
  17. Good luck to him, did the job needed at the time. Also really pleased he’s agreed to move on. We simply must have a replacement ready. We can’t rely on Wilson staying fit and we really don’t know what we’ve got with Isak yet. I think Wood has been involved in all but 1 league game this season? Who is coming in, can’t wait.

It must take some effort to support an unsuccessful club you have no connection to, live miles from and do so, with a passion, over a lifetime. I’m not sure I could do it. I see a few ST holders who’ve been going for years and years who are from down South. One of them has now moved up here as her children are now grown up and she felt able to move. It’s mad. Doesn’t matter where a true supporter comes from or whether they can attend any match. It’s either in your heart or it isn’t. It either affects your daily mood or it doesn’t. Be it Newcastle, Torquay, Man U, Sunderland or whoever, if you’ve found a team that means that much to you then, you’re a proper supporter. I’ll not knock casual or glory hunters simply because win, lose or draw, deep down, they’re not affected by what happens. They will never know the absolute joy something like (for example) David Kelly’s goal against Pompey caused.
  19. It looks like he’ll miss the weekend and hopefully be ready for Soton. At the time it seemed pretty clear to me that Bruno needed to come off much sooner. The moment for me was a little dink pass he tried that fell way short and clearly caused him pain. He was a bystander for the rest of the half and that could have cost us.

Has nobody mentioned this belter: Don't think anyone would deny they have a larger fanbase than us. However much of that is simply an accident of Geography. If we were located where they are and vice versa we'd have the larger fanbase.……
