I do agree but, in the case of Tonali, the gulf between his perceived market value and his performances is so massive it makes sense to sell him for the right price. So many elements of his game are poor other than replicable things like running loads and being raging.

Indeed. If we want to have marauding full backs - which I do and think they are one of our best attributes - it'd help to drop a midfielder slightly deeper when they are up the field. In reality feels slightly like the 3 midfielders generally have the same instructions and are bombing about at random. I don't know the exact stats, but if you could do a scatter plot of "distance covered" and "touches" I'm sure our midfield would be in the lower right corner. He's not actually that great in general play I maintain. He's a good goalscorer but he's not really that fast, can't beat a man and has generally poor delivery. Feel like he's somewhere in between impact sub and first team, but not one or the other.
