It should be possible to expand SJP to 70k or so even with the constraints of leases terrace.

The yellow wall at dortmund is c.25k behind the goal. Why couldn’t we have that behind each goal? We’re then at 50k plus milburn and east stand.

Another idea could be to demolish the east stand completely and build it back as the corporate hospitality area with the boxes effectively stacked on top of each other meaning the stand doesn’t have to take such a large footprint. Maybe then put a giant screen on top of it

The history of SJP, the memories and all of that were of such importance to us because we had no realistic chance of enjoying anything else.

This is different.

Build me the biggest stadium in the world. I want wine rooms, cheese rooms, falafel rooms and all of that shit. As much income as possible so that we can spend as much as possible. No fans locked outside

I've just been out at a corporate function where I've been reliably informed that Ashley bought the club as a bet - and the bet was that he could turn a profit out of football. Nothing that hasn't been mentioned on here before but thought I would add my tuppence to the debate - the source is 100% concrete,somebody who has personally made several business deals with Ashley over the last few years and I trust them beyond doubt (read my limited previous posts - I'm not a sensationalist person)

Anyway, feel free to slate this post and call me a Martin jol Itk bullshitting c#nt but I'm not!

Genuinely feeling gutted that my club is a trivial pursuit to the fcb and that there is no sign of getting out of this current malaise whilst he still breathes!

Yes Ashley is a prick but this site is getting ridiculous at the moment. I think that people should stop posting their ridiculous take on the finances of the club (when they clearly don't know what they are talking about) and using it as yet another reason to slag off Ashley.

We all get it and we all agree that he is a Twat but some of the posts re: 'Ashley making massive profits out of selling the club after buying it for free' are just doing my head in.

But hey why not sensationalise the fuck out of the situation..

Bolton are such a horrible club, but still bigger than Burnley will ever be.

How do you quantify that? Given that most on here claim that we are a "big club" based on historical success rather than current achievements I find this quite funny!

 

As an interesting aside I was at the Burnley V Bolton game on boxing day and the Bolton fans were chanting for Coyle throughout the game .... brought back memories of the SJP crowd trying to woo Kluivert

 

Bolton could with the right manager stay in the division for years (as they have done) Burnley will go down and never come back within the next two, or they might get a fluky run and keep up for two and go down in the third like Hull (prays for that or even this season) and the likes. This is Burnley's tidemark, it wont get any better, especially if they lose their manager.

Alternatively I could see a situation where Bolton go down this season and fade into Championship mediocrity. They get fuck all fans as it is in the Premiership, how many would they get for a home game against Plymouth?

Burnley on the other hand are a team who will keep the majority of their fans. I think it was mentioned about the possibility of expanding stadiums etc earlier, well tbh neither would expand their stadiums. Bolton don't have the fans, and as for Burnley the town is just too small to warrant a bigger stadium.

Are you aware that Burnley used this seasons TV money to pay off all of their debts, buy back Turf Moor and the training facilities, rather than spunk the lot on wages for mercenaries. That would leave a sizeable chunk to spend on the playing staff next season should they remain in the premier league.

Either way, I don't think it should be overlooked just how good a job Coyle has done. Graham Alexander playing PL centre mid for god's sake!

Suddenly everyone's an expert on non disclosure agreements. Do we know for a fact what it entails? Personally I would have thought it would simply be that anyone looking at the accounts in the "data room" cannot reveal those details; and on the other side, SP cannot reveal the names of the bidders. It doesn't necessarily mean that they themselves can't say they are interested in the club if they want to.

 

Having said that, I agree that empty vessels make the most noise.

 

Like everyone I'll be glad when it's done but I can't understand the present levels of panic/anxiety. A deal will be concluded and Alan Shearer will almost certainly be installed as the new manager as long as his wage demands are sensible.

 

Seriously? After considering how well the sale of the club went last time with 7 bidders fighting it out? After considering the methods Ashley uses in his other business (70% off sales which never end, shops which are closing down but never close)? The new season's less than a month away and we've done NOTHING yet to prepare for it when this off season requires double the work it normally would. How can anyone not be anxious? I can only think your lack of anxiety is down to the fact you wouldn't mind him staying on and are happy with Kinnear as manager.

The PFA saying they asked Newcastle to keep quiet about Milner putting in a transfer request last week is the strange part, it's almost like he's saying "If you don't offer an improved contract then I'll ask for a transfer but please keep it quiet cos I don't really want to move, just trying to force a new offer".

 

He could of been thinking about it as a win/win situation, either he gets a new improved contract here or gets a move knowing there's interest from other clubs. I think the plus from the PFA statement is that his request was made last week, so hopefully we've been making moves for a replacement, maybe having someone lined up (Improved offer for Larsson maybe) which is why we've gone public with his request to leave.

To be honest, it's probably illegal for the club to sell something with his name on it if he's not actually ours. So you'd hope this plus Ashley's shirt plus Depor confirmation plus Gutierrez' endorsement of him = he's signed.

I'm sure you can go to a LOCAL NON-OFFICIAL SHOP and get whatever you want put on the back - moron, or gimp, for instance, combined with a number of your choosing - but in the OFFICIAL CLUB SHOP it would surely, surely not be legal to offer a standardized name and number of a player we didn't have? That's why, although at at the shop you may be able to request 10 KAKA on your Newcastle top (although you'd look like an idiot), if you order ONLINE THROUGH THE OFFICIAL CLUB SHOP who are offering the names and numbers of players, they aren't going to offer 2 COLOCCINI as one of our OFFICIAL PLAYERS TO GET ON THE BACK OF YOUR SHIRT if he didn't play for us. This is why, when you try and order a shirt online, you can't get players who don't play for us. I don't know if you have noticed, but all the players on that list play for us.
