You would think that the club, and the supporters, would NEVER mention this, because of the appalling shame of how they came to 'qualify' to be entered into the tournament in the first place.
  2. You mean aside from every journalist including the negative ones saying they are there waiting for a takeover. Aside from companies house documents linked to PIF and our club being continued on Companies house only a day ago. Aside from the club releasing a statement a few days ago saying they were pushing for this takeover to go through. I was very positive it would go through until PIF withdrew. It turns out a lot of journalists were misled by their sources, so I certainly wouldn't be in a rush to believe them this time around. Similarly the higher ups at the club are proven liars so I'd take that with a pinch of salt too. The Companies House stuff is interesting though. As is the stuff linked to Stavely's case against Barclays. I'd be absolutely delighted if it went through and we could finally look forward to rebuilding the club, but I wouldn't be at all suprised if arbitration ended with a tidy settlement for Mike and everyone moving on. Have you not yet heard what the Arbitration Panel are (and are not) looking into?
  3. The Consortium would not buy a "Championship Club" for the money that they have agreed with Ashley to buy Newcastle United for. Hopefully, we will not be relegated, but if we are a Premier League Club in the Championship for a season - who cares? Certainly the Consortium won't care, why would they. Can people not understand the difference between a Championship Club and a Premier League Club temporarily in the Championship? After all we have done it twice under Ashley, so it would be no hardship under the Consortium and with Benitez at the helm. It would not affect the Takeover, it wouldn't really affect the development of the club under the new owners either, as they will have to replace pretty well 100% of the playing staff and non-playing staff, no matter which division we are in when they take over the club. The logic of this is obvious, but (I suppose) "cue the scatter-gun vitriol" !!!!! Ashley imho would not sell at a reduced price and nobody would pay that amount for a championship club and there lies the problem. If you think he would reduce the price fair enough, but, history doesn’t back up that theory. My post explains that the Takeover would not be affected - the 'price' will remain the same, by a season in the 2nd Division. Love your optimism but if we are relegated they will need to change the playing staff twice, good premiership players aren't going to play in the championship so we will need players to get us out and then players to progress in the Premier league. Good Premier League players will join us no matter what division we are temporarily in. The plans, ambitions and objectives of the "New Newcastle United FC" will be very plainly understood by everyone in the football world. Indeed, they already are by the EPL . . . hence their gut-reaction opposition to the Takeover (using whatever 'situations' they can conjure up to somehow justify that opposition).

So you really think they would pay the same price for a championship club? I think you’re living in lala land there mind if you do. As I say above, a Premier League Club in the Championship for a season (with all their money and Benitez) is a very different animal to a "Championship Club".

"If we go down, we'll just come straight back up" There is no guarantee of that happening due to Ashley's negligence since we came back up. If we go down this year, it would take a monumental effort to come straight back up. Under the very wealthy and ambitious new owners and with Benitez in charge.

  8. Thanks everyone. I will never lose my huge enthusiasm for this great City, it's great people and it's great Football Club. That is why I cannot contain my excitement about the immensity of what is to come.
  9. To use a good old English expression . . "Crikey". I have never posted anything unrealistic in my life, if you think something I have posted is . . then you know where the problem lies. Until I gave it up, I have had a Season Ticket at St James' since Season 1969/1970 (I was the original 'glory hunter' after we won the Fairs Cup . . hmm!!) so I am more knowledgeable and 'interested in' NUFC than most people I know. However, the only thing that really matters to NUFC in 2020 and 2021 is the Takeover, which is why that is absolutely the only thing worth posting about until it happens. To the word 'Crikey', I would add (about your comments) the word 'Dispiriting'. Crikey that takes me back.....feyenoord, Rangers semi -final and the glorious Upjest Dosza in the final...I wonder how many of us,Manorpark, who are on this forum who were around in our “glory Days" A couple of years ago, in 2019, I celebrated the "50th Anniversary" of our Fairs Cup Win with this long thread, with hundreds of photos and memories HERE . . . https://www.skyscrapercity.com/threads/fairs-cup-newcastle-united-and-the-1969-fairs-cup-win-50th-anniversary-1969-to-2019.2177948/post-159296132

  11. Couldn't possibly be more different. Trump fans are (by definition) idiots. People who support NUFC and are also able to distinguish a 'win' from a 'loss' - are uniquely talanted!
  12. Exactly the opposite of this. His possible bias (and I do not think he would have ever been so) has been totally exposed into the public domain by De-Marco . . so (if anything) he will have to show to the maximum externt that he has bent over backwards to NOT be biased. Great move by De-Marco, probably everything he wanted . . ie, far better than having another 'unknown quantity' as a replacement Chairman. Brilliant. Strangely, obviously they did. These legal cases are 'complex' and very often the "easy assumption" (the obvious assumption) seen from the outside . . . is the opposite of the truth. As in this case! Na. Thinking about it then it’s very possible they knew they wouldn’t win this battle but sets them up nicely to go to war. Sacrificed a pawn as this guys biased is now in focus and he can’t exert it over proceedings or they’ll be all over it making the judgement to not replace him look the wrong one. It may be a decent secondary outcome, but the overall aim was to remove him. That didn’t happen. His bias may be in focus, but on the flip side you could say it makes him/PL very aware of it so if there is any dodgy dealings, they’ll be very carefully covered up rather than an accidental mishap caused by complacency. This wasn’t a win. It was a loss. It’s good to see the club are intent on progressing it and it’s clear the club are willing to push this all of the way. All of which is good news. But we don’t need to try and twist/seek out positive news from every development It was most obviously a WIN for us.

  15. That's a low enough bar to give a limboing ant problems. To be fair I’ve been consistent throughout this in my position and guess what it’s still very much on. The club have confirmed it’s not about compensation and the Saudis are still waiting to complete. Who’d have thought aye. I would hope that the legions of "Nothing is happening / it is definitely all OFF" types that post on the other thread have the decency to admit they have been WRONG . . even if they cannot quite bring themselves to aplogise to the likes of me and you WM, for some of the 'ridiculous' crticisms they have made about us.

  17. I am so pleased that I never went on the "always look on the down side" or the "always seek to routinely criticise anyone who doesn't always look on the down side" training Courses !! The way some people think, and post on here, is amazing.
  18. Nothing has changed. Has Ashley issued a statement to say the Takeover is off? Has Staveley said that the Takeover is off? Have DeMarco and co told us they are no longer on the case? NO . . . they haven't. Things are still happening quietly behind the scenes - as they SHOULD be. Quiet - no leaks - is good. All we have to do (still . . . ) is just W A I T.

  20. I have to respond to this sorry like and it will be my final word on subject. I’m not goading anyone and was simply pointing out that if certain posters are saying the takeover is over based on this U.S intelligence report then fine, but these same posters have claimed it’s been over for moths yet still feel the need to read about something they think is over ? Certain posters feel the need to keep repeating that it’s over, I find that more bizarre than any of my positivity. If I thought something was over I wouldn’t waste anymore of my time on it. As for gdm the bloke comes into the positivity thread attempting to call people out all the time, then when you try and humour him and debate back, sticks his little insults in when he doesn’t like the way it’s going, as exampled last night by his little loopy emojis when he starts to get annoyed. If you’re going to dish it expect it back, he wouldn’t last 2 minutes on somewhere like ‘skunkers’ in the old days. As for being goaded, no one is goaded more than myself on here. However, I take it in good spirit and try to have a laugh where possible. I certainly don’t go running asking for anyone to be banned, and treat this place as a bit of light relief during lockdown. However, I’m absolutely deadly serious when it comes to one matter.....the takeover will happen mark my words folks, and I’ll even be happy for the likes of gdm and Shaun when it does, as we’re all Mags at the end of the day. Well said! The Takeover will obviously happen, and it will be great to live in the post-Ashley and new-Staveley/PIF/Reubens world of the great NUFC !!!
  21. It will be very difficult for some on here to understand that nothing (relevant) has changed and that the Takeover WILL STILL HAPPEN !!!
  22. Thanks for the votes people, even though I didn't actually win anything. I thought I was a shoe-in to win the "Most Knowledgeable Poster" category, but not to be (this year).
  23. It's over Kidda, give up man FFS. Wow...new member contribution.....better do as he says Whitley! Yeah very enlightening Jinky. I think I’ll wait to the main protagonists tell us it’s over, not sure about you ? ? Like you, I’m still convinced the takeover will happen...not sure when though......I’ll only give in when we’re in league 1, with Bruce still informing us that he’s happy with their 2nd half performance? I’m still absolutely unshakeable in my belief it’s happening. They’ll either consign us to the nut house Jinky, or we’ll be proven correct in the end. I’m very sure it’ll be the latter though. Totally correct. It is SO exciting just to think what the future will be like, day after day, week after week, month after month . . . IT WILL BE SO DIFFERENT TO NOW !!
