  1. For the last couple of months, whenever I have read the latest posts on this thread and then gone back to the main 'list of threads' page, there has ALWAYS been a new posting made in the time it took me to do that, always. Today (07.45 on 15th May 2020) is the first time that has not happened, in all that time, and also (when I look for the last post made) it is actually from OVER SEVEN HOURS AGO. It feels like people may have just given up . . . this has just "gone on for too long"?
  2. The more these media "sheep" climb over their pathetic selves to write us (and the takeover) down, the more any self-respecting organisation (which I hope the Premier League is) will feel they are being pushed and pushed in a certain direction, and so they will push back - and ignore the c*nts !! In my opinion anyway.
  3. The best and only way we at NUFC, or anyone in the West, can hope to have any kind of influence on what we see as the worst aspects of Saudi Arabia and their culture, is by "engaging" with them. The more we reject them, boycott them, or whatever, the more extreme we will drive them to be. Is that what we want, is that what we should do? Integrating them gradually into (what we say are) the 'higher standards' of the Western World, by facilitating their involvement in the "world game" of football, would go some way towards achieving what we would like to see them become. Perhaps only small steps, but small steps are better than no steps at all or even backward steps. In my opinion.
  4. For no apparent reason? ? Yes of course, for no apparent reason. You can do one of these "attack Saudi Arabia" (China, Russia, Iran, USA . . . whoever) articles whenever you (BBC etc) want, but WHY NOW ?? It stinks, I'm sure you can see that.
  5. Well I was never 100% confident, but I am still fairly confident. Although I'd be lying if I said the concerns weren't growing. I don't think the FA will be overly concerned about Amnesty and the like. But there will be a concern in football circles about Newcastle United suddenly being worth much more than any other club. You mean "Jealousy" . . Since when did that become legitimate grounds for the Premier League to consider rejecting any new club owners?
  6. This Guardian article is just a load of hot air from Journalists with not much to write about (about football) at the moment. There's just "us" and "Project Restart", and nothing else. SO . . to all of us (like ME) who were certain our Takeover would be announced and confirmed this week, before this "Guardian Panic", just go back to feeling (knowing) that is the case . . because IT IS, AND THIS IS THE WEEK !!!!!!!!!!
  7. Its a clique i tell ya , a clique ! I don't think there is a 'clique' on here, what we do have is a group of very regular posters who tend to 'listen to' eachother and 'quote' eachother, and that seems fine, as they are the ones who have 'put the work in on here' and kept this forum going for years. I have been on here for many years, but I don't post too often, so consequently I don't get "quoted or re-quoted" all that often either . . but I think that is ok. We have some very good regular posters on here, who I enjoy reading !!
  8. I have a very good feeling about all of this, I think this is going to be a great week for our great club !!!
  9. I know this has alredy been reported, but it is GREAT to read it again . . . NUFC.COM . . . Takeover: Last lap We understand that the much-heralded purchase of Newcastle United by a consortium comprising the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers will be ratified and announced before next weekend. That will follow the granting of formal approval of the deal by the Premier League - a process that has taken around five weeks, due in part to controversy over the Saudi involvement and efforts to restart the season.

Looks like it is certain that they will be spending (yet) another season in the THIRD DIVISION !!
  11. I don't care if it's Qatar releasing the story. It's one we should be discussing seriously. It's not enough to simply acknowledge wrong-doing. A man was murdered for criticising a regime. That does not deserve death. Why should we ? It’s got nothing to do with football, if your going to attach the murder to the purchase of the club then also discuss it in relation to live nation, Warner brothers and other Saudi purchases. No one is disputing the murder is horrendous, it’s the hypocrisy that the sale of nufc should be stopped whilst all these other deals go throughout without a murmur. The one thing this deal won’t be stopped on is human rights, it would put the premier league at odds with the policy of the U.K. government. What is blatantly happening here is human rights lawyers are using the high profile nature of this sale to gain publicity, as they know the Saudis buying stakes in other companies just doesn’t draw the same attention. You can’t blame them for this as this is their job, however what I strongly object to is the notion that we should sacrifice the chance of a lifetime for our city and club, If this was blocked these same people would move on to their next cause and wouldn’t give a s%#t about us. So whilst I acknowledge and understand the human rights aspect, ths hypocrisy expecting us to be line drawn in the sand with Saudis doesn’t wash with me and many others. Exactly, totally accurate. Some people are using a deliberately 'distorted' assessment of the situation, in a way that they NEVER have about any other Saudi-related situation. I wonder . . er . . why?? Hmm, oh yes!
  12. The fact that Staveley & Co are reported to have been thinking about "such specific details" as the Training Ground etc, reads very well to me. It means that they consider they are already owners of the club, and I can't believe they would be so confident if they had ANY doubts at all about the Premier League Tests. For some time now I have ceased to think of them as 'possible future owners' and have been thinking of them as "OURS" (our owners) full and complete !! Feels goooood!
  13. Yes, I can imagine that the Premier League may have indicated to Staveley/Reubens/PIF, that they were minded to reject the application . . then the full force of some very heavy rich peoples legal teams will have . . erm . . "advised them" that they had better not try !!! (hence the possible future rule changes).
  14. For some reason I remember a clock in the west stand. Looking at the old photos it was just like a hump press box area on the roof of the stand? Can't place a clock in the West Stand, back in the days before the Milburn was built. Yes, there was the 'hump' press box, but no clock, and it certainly was never referred to as the 'Clock Stand', that was at Roker Park.
  15. Yes, I well remember the winning "Inter-Cities Fairs Cup" run of 1968/1969. Then the "European Fairs Cup" runs over the following two seasons (1969/1970 and 1970/1971). Losing out to Anderlecht the previous season...losing the first leg 2-0 but 3-0 up late in the second half only for Anderlecht to score a late goal and winning on away goals rules....one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had in football. Yes, that Anderlecht Match. WHAT an atmosphere, so loud "United" / "United" / "United" endlessly. Then, we had it won until Nordhal swiped at the ball with the foot he normally only used to stand on, and we (the holders) were OUT. Me too, one of the worst feelings . . .

  17. Top quality post, and totally accurate in it's assessment of our beautiful, architecturally wonderful City Centre, and it's assessment of us, it's lucky people. Well said.
  18. Seems very unlikely. If I wasn't a Newcastle United supporter I would KNOW it will be approved, it would never occur to me that it wouldn't be approved. That includes if I was a Sunderland FC supporter, I would KNOW it would be approved . . though I would probably continually say the opposite !!!
  19. He’s not saying there *is* an issue. Just presenting a few different options for what could be causing a delay. I think people are not reading that tweet with the context of what he was replying to. He quite clearly says there is an issue which wasn't anticipated at the start of last week (when he first said it could be done by Wednesday). Like I said I'm not shitting I the bed, still expect it to go through, but aye... That quote made me think it wasn't going as smoothly as they expected. This. Staveley thought it would be done last week, she was wrong. What if she's wrong about passing? She also led Caulkin to believe she was going to be our new owner 2 1/2 years ago. Hopefully its only a week or so delay, not years this time. Is not a fakeover man stop crapping on about that will you. It's down to the Premier League nothing more nothing less. Didn't say fakeover, just that it's not complete yet. Also just reminding everyone that Staveley has told her contacts she was expecting to be our new owner 2 1/2 years ago. Hopefully she's right this time. I think you just need to chill. Wait until it’s done. You reminds me of Lee Ryder. Let's be above petty name calling to keep this thread somewhat civil. I've come to expect nothing less - it seems reminding people this isn't a done deal yet sets a few off on one. It's called "stress" I suppose.
  20. We could buy up some local football teams in some of the many other "Newcastles" around the world. That would be 'unique' . . . https://www.skyscrapercity.com/threads/newcastle-our-official-twin-cities-and-all-the-newcastles-of-the-world.1521719/unread Well, maybe not !!

They are simply "Hilarious" . . . and they must KNOW that they are.
  22. These days will be looked back on as "vintage times" in the history of NUFC. In our hearts we all believe that Ashley has GONE after 13 years of crap. In our hearts we are all SO WORRIED that it might all fall through, still. In our hearts we are SO EXCITED at the prospect of being the richest club in the world. My goodness, SUCH exciting times ahead . . . we "think". Yes, these are one-off vintage times, NEVER to be forgotten.
  23. Stunningly sunny in NE30. Another week to wait. AND a great morning here in sunny Newcastle 3. Next week it will definitely happen, definitely (I think . . . )
