  1. They're only after Van Dijk. Koulibaly is back-up/leaked to spook Celtic into being more compliant. Would be very very surprised if Fonte left, particularly to Villa.
  2. That's a pretty significant increase tbh. Because they can be completely misused, "significant" is an empty term, unless you're talking about statistical significance. Given that save % is not considered to be a particularly repeatable metric from season to season (i.e you can expect fairly large variance between seasons for an individual 'keeper - even great ones), 'significance' is a fairly hollow term to apply to such a difference. Especially given that save % is dependent upon a number of factors, notably shot quality, which is tricky to pin down and compare between teams (current expected goals models are not really up to scratch).
  3. Depends how you define " bigger " can definitely Southampton being in for him and as of right now that's a more attractive destination tbh. Especially given he supports them...
  4. Looked like a headless chicken a year ago. Now one of our most important players, proper nice guy too.
  5. Don't think this is the kind of game for him tbh, he'll do well alongside Schneiderlin when they're hunting teams who actually try and keep the ball. Not sure why he's seemingly completely displaced Cork, who's a lot more reliable on the ball, especially in matches like this.
  6. Not really sure where to put this, but I had a mainly NUFC chat with Andy Falkous from Future of the Left, and he had a few choice words about Kinnear. Interesting reading, but then I would say that. http://thefourohfive.com/news/article/football-prediction-league-gameweek-4-future-of-the-left
  7. Might aswell get Leon Best back in that case Deeney's better. Also, stump up £8M+ or don't even bother.

4 more to join too apparently. Nah, those four are included in the 8. Though Ekstrand (Udinese), Anya (Granada), Iriney (Granada) will follow. Hopefully Vydra too, but if he does we have way too many options up top. Struggling to see how we'd fit Deeney, Acuna, Fabbrini, Forestieri and a couple of promising younger lads in as it is. All of them are top Championship players. Fuck the police. Those were the 4 I was meaning, aren't all but Vydra training with you right now? Ah fair enough, all the early reports this morning were 4+4 that composed the 8 announced. Not sure if Iriney is yet, but Granada have already announced that he's signed (on loan, though it'll likely end up permanent). Big question marks over what's happening to Vydra. Seems as though Ranegie has impressed a lot more than him in pre-season, so he's not found a place in the Udinese squad. No acceptable bid's come in for him either. Hopefully this is the Pozzos showing the agent who's in charge, the way he was spouting off about finding a bigger club immediately etc. was a bit disrespectful and unnecessary. Would be happy to see him back if he has his head together after seemingly clamouring for a move.

Close the loophole where you can sign players from other teams. Unfair.

Higher TV income means that in 'real' terms (relative to a club's income), these fees aren't quite as extravagant as they appear. Crazy how inflated prices going into the English market are though, generally.

Yup. As if it is going to change anything. It's just a technicality since they have the same owners. Well yeah they could still gift them the players instead of loaning them. Exactly. It all sounds nice and right on paper but Watford will still get the majority of their players from their parent club. It's stopped other clubs from having reciprocal arrangements, rather than affecting anything with us. Us getting players from Udinese/Granada to this extent is a pretty short-term measure to get to the Premier League, after which point we'll likely be the financially strongest of the three, and thus not seen as a 'feeder' club (which we aren't in any way). I'd stick some money on us (Watford) getting promoted/winning the league next year. We're building up serious depth all over. Ikechi Anya (Granada), Daniel Pudil (Granada), Jaime Romero (Udinese) Gabriele Angella (Udinese), Joel Ekstrand (Udinese), Marco Cassetti (Udinese), David Faraoni (Udinese), Cristian Battocchio (Udinese), Almen Abdi (Udinese), Javi Acuna (Udinese), Lewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest) all signed/pictured at our training camp in Italy. So I'm guessing that a fair amount of these won't be loans this season, some of them may be with the squad temporarily as they decide if they want them or not. The new recruits Angella, Faraoni and Acuna all seem pretty highly rated, Acuna seems to have picked us over Crystal Palace and Espanyol, whilst the other two have been capped by Italy U21s. We've lost Almunia, Chalobah and Vydra, but look to be filling in all the weak spots in the squad, which together with a few exciting players (Assombalonga - great name if anything) should see as pretty strong. Linked with Italian international Diego Fabbrini too. Between him, Forestieri, Deeney, Acuna we've got pretty ridiculous strength in depth in attack for a Championship side.

If our intent was serious of course it would change things. We made enquiries, Southampton made an actual offer I bet you we get to the Clyne stage of a transfer about 10 times a window, maybe more yet we only sign one or two. Southampton agreed terms with Clyne before they'd made Palace an acceptable offer, it was about to go to tribunal until a deal was struck fairly late on, so I'm not sure why you couldn't have been talking rather seriously without having made a proper offer (given his contract situation at that point in time).

Not necessarily a done deal. One of him, Banega and Nainggolan will probably happen though. They've got a pretty strong set of targets, with the cash to back it up.
