It might not translate very well but Barnes is one of the top finishers in our team, it's got to be worth a shout against Villa if we don't have anyone in by then.

All the noise is from Liverpool media luvvies, anyone with ties to NUFC have said he's categorically not for sale, except maybe Hope but we know he's incessantly negative for the clicks. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be hanging on the words of Luke Edwards, but here we are. I just hope Isak comes to terms with this quick smart because we're going to need him this season and he's going to have to realise if he wants his big move and play at the very echelons of football then he needs to continue to prove himself on the stage he's afforded here. Ideally, he stays at least another year and we finish above the bin dippers in the league, as unlikely as that is, it would be just reward for this summer. I also hope they make a very public lunge for Wissa and he chooses us anyway.

If we'd have got Sesko or Ekitike or someone of similar ilk then the door would have been opened for Liverpool to make a decent bid but with the way things have gone and on the eve of the PL season started we've made our decision, Isak stays. There will be the last dying thralls of Liverpool media bias saying its still possible, still going to happen in a feeble attempt at weakening our hand but its just noise.

Need to get this one across the line in the next couple of days to give us a fighting chance at Villa.

So we're all Palace supporters today then?

Try their hand at £60m Inc. Bonuses and see where we land, this kid is going to be a beast.

Man there's some incessantly morbid people on this forum. This is the kind of transfer we've all been yearning for, young, with bags of potential but still a diamond in the rough. We tried ready made and we got stung, several times, I'm more than happy to go back to bringing in potential and giving our master craftsman Howe time to work his magic. I hope this is the first of a few more through the door in the next week. I forsee a rough start to the season but a strong finish after Eddie gets everyone cooking on gas.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

I blame Isak -
It's not that they might be sour or anything, oh no, couldn't possibly be that.

They have potentially a formidable attack going into this season, but they still have glaring holes in the squad and they're counting on Sesko hitting the ground running. Personally I think they'll struggle to break into the top 6 again this season.

As I said in the Eddie Howe thread I think Isak has checked out mentally and so it's not as easy as just telling him to stay, it benefits no one holding him hostage but that's a two way street, he can't hold us hostage either, there has to be an acceptance that he only gets to leave if his valuation is met, he believes he's world class and deserves world class wages in a world class team, well that comes with a world class price tag. I trust Eddie to get this right, whether that's extracting maximum value or reintegrating a valuable asset back into the team if his valuation isn't met.

It's the total hypocrisy of it all for me, all those "normal" people losing their livlihood and for what? A weeks worth of Bruno Fernández wages? Faux poverty equating to extra dividends.
-
It reads to me that Isak has checked out of the club mentally and Howe just feels if he tells him he's unequivocally going nowhere then it doesn't help anyone. He's not in a position to tell him he can't leave because what's the point in keeping a player that really doesn't want to be here and feels like he's being held hostage? I think Eddie still holds hope that he can either talk him round or be in a position to say Liverpool won't give us what we value him at so he'll have to give us more time to realise his desire for a bigger move.

It seems like a choice between Wissa and Jackson to me, Wissa is the short term replacement that will guarantee goals now, Jackson has the potential to be better but we need certainty from Wilsons replacement for me and we can't take both and have no strikers for the most important run of games in the season.
-
I'm going with the notion that we scammed the sly 6 into spending all their money on our "targets" when Samu was always our number one, we just wanted a free run at him.
-
This is the one I wanted more than Sesko, please let it happen!

Eales and Mitchell have now become the most important replacements we need in this club, beyond any players, for any modicum of hope in the future of building something fr this summers shenanigans
