We were also in L7 and that's the best I've known it up there since the old singing corner days. Was good to see wbry supporter who'd managed to get hold of one of the 1,500 Milan returns in the safe standing section actually stand up for 90 minutes and the standing continued round well into the corner which always helps the atmosphere I think. For those 5 mins or so when word went around that Dortmund were winning it was spine tingling!
Interestingly although the Scoreboard didn't show that Dortmund had taken the lead it was pretty quick to inform us that PSG had equalised and then that they were 2-1 up which flattened the place considerably. In fact I didn't even realise that their 2nd goal had been disallowed and that they had finished 1-1 until I got back home!
Most of the lower Gallowgate had no idea it had been disallowed. Plenty raging that we were pushing for a winner so much instead of settling for EL.
Killed a bit of the atmosphere as well where I was which had been immense up that point. -

Off to Manchester to see Explosions in the Sky tonight - anyone know of any city centre pubs that'll be showing the match?
Box on Deansgate is usually decent. Watched the Wolves game in there and there were a few other Newcastle fans in.

Hate white socks. Probably because we’re usually next to useless in them. Another hoodoo for Eddie to smash.

Yes it does because it was played by two Forest players before it hit Longstaff. Ridiculous

Is there any reason why Man U fans immediately start with the antagonising songs as opposed to support their own team songs?
We got the train from Marylebone to Wembley and the first songs were both Shearer songs, from lads that clearly thought that they’d out number Newcastle fans. That soon stopped as the train got swamped with Newcastle fans but they immediately tried it again once off the train (and soon stopped again). They could quite easily have received a good slap and have had no complaints as they were clearly intent of taking the piss and acting the big lad.
We had the (?) pleasure of heading down on the train from Manchester on Sunday morning. It was the same all the way down even when they thought no Newcastle fans were in earshot.
Straight up weird behaviour especially as 90% were Shearer related songs & the bulk of them singing it weren’t born when fucked them off.

You have a lot of faith in humanity, especially football fans
I'll let her make her mind up and if not I'll just pass them on.
I'm sorted so
Worth double checking the seating plan - I had this in Level 7 corner for the Palace game. Seat numbers were a few apart but when we got their the missing numbered seats didn’t exist so they were actually next to each other.

Well it is possible for Eddie and Romano to be correct. There’s no way the club say anything until medical is done and contracts signed. Just have to look at the delay in the club saying anything on Botman for days whilst clearance was sought. They eventually had to say something to calm the panic brigade.
Looks to me like both parties have reached agreement but admin and medical to sort.

Noticed that he waited for Ederson to set his wall up and then placed the ball a yard further to his left. Totally changed the angle and sent Ederson moving fractionally the wrong way.
Very clever as well as an immaculate strike.

Looks like Fofana is pushing more and more for his move to Chelsea, which may mean this is a non starter for us without going all the way to £60m.

Been interesting to watch PIF’s approach to this. People like Dustin Johnson and Bryson that said they’d never take part have then had huge sums of cash thrown at them, resulting in some 180’s.
From a NUFC perspective it does indicate that they’re willing to spend whatever it takes to make sure they’re successful. Confirms to me that the only restrictions for us come from FFP.

What he actually says is that he needs to make sure there is the correct balance.
I agree that it seems unlikely that he will bring in a 35 year old keeper AND a 29 year old defender though but we don't know what the club has planned in other areas.
He was very precise with his language and made a point of saying it was very position dependent as well which may mean that we’re comfortable with an older keeper for a while.
FWIW I think he’d be a great fit personality wise as well.

Watched Eddie’s Football Focus interview earlier, discussing the likes of Fraser, Richie and Wilson giving him an advantage with the dressing room by telling the lads about his expectations and what he’ll do for their careers and the club if they buy into his methods.
Wonder what AC has said to the West Brom guys?

Ex-players never fail to disappoint when they open their mouths. Benz’s turn this morning, championing Chris Wilder as some sort of revolutionary idea and stating the next man must be British.

That’ll go well from level 7

Quite the leap from Conte to Carrick in one article

Could be that arbitration is either under way or imminent and the delay in releasing this “bomb” via the press is a negotiating tactic to apply pressure to the PL.
NDM has always maintained that these things are best settled outside of court/arbitration.

Thread title change was oddly prophetic. He’s genuinely a false manager now that Jones is in charge
-
See his wiki has already been updated:
"Graeme Anthony Jones (born 13 March 1970) is an English professional football manager and former player who played as a forward. He is currently first team coach at Newcastle United. He then proceeded to play aggressive attacking football after telling steve bruce to "do one cabbage heed"."

Lots wrong with this. Mainly that we've finished in the top ten 4 times in the past 15 years, in spite of the owner. Constantly belittling the club, nufc fan my arse.

Isn't it also the name of a PJ & Duncan Monkees cover**? Open to ridicule.
** My lass bought it, honest.

On his way back to Newcastle now. Confirmed later today/tomorrow - Caulkin, Hope & Hardy

Don’t think you can blame the ballot for this. The safe standing section is usually returns from the away allocation I think so goes to the resale.
I got one in there for a pal today and he said the same - standing frowned upon ffs.
Only thing I’d say is that nowhere on his ticket did it say “safe standing”, not that it should matter.
