Like going from being a championship striker to a top premiership striker and England international ! You could argue that it's not unreasonable for the club to ask him to complete his first full season in top flight, and see how he gets on, before renegotiating in the summer, either. Seems AC didn't want to wait. I don't think he would mind having to stay with us. Have a feeling he isn't that happy with how things worked out. Maybe I'm just being sentimental, but at least believing when Carroll says his sad to be leaving, will help me sleep at night.

As far as I understand, they were discussing a new contract before the bids came in. What happened after the 35m bid came in is then up to discussion, Carroll says they withdrew from contract talks and that Derek asked him to hand in a transfer request. Pards and Derek says Andy is an illoyal liar! They didn't withdraw, they said they would wait until the summer. Which is spot on with they did. If they already were discussing a new contract, then saying to wait 'till summer is a signal of intent imo. But the real question is really if Derek asked him to hand in the transfer request as Carroll states (if you can trust the quotes). I still continue to hold Derek and Carroll's agent responsible.

No matter what he is still a 22-year-old kid, having to make decisions of a size most people never have to. It makes perfect sense to me if he feels like being put in a corner if Derek (or his agent or both) actually told him to hand in a transfer request.

You havent answered my last post to you mate. You should find it quite easy, dunno why you're still having a go otherwise There's only so many ways I can say that re-negotiating a contract a few months into his current contract is bad business. No matter how much his 'valuation' has sky rocketed. Agree in principle, but it is quite normal for young players to get new contracts as they make a name for themselves. He has gone from being a young prospect in the championship to being a top premiership striker and England international (hence the 35m valuation).

I don't really hold Carroll responsible in this farce. Seems like he would have been more than content to stay. It's the fucking overspending in modern football and greedy agents. that corrupts the sports, players and clubs alike. Don't blame the player, blame the game! Can't help thinking he could have been a new Shearer-like icon for the club. I hope all the best for the kid (just not that human garbage club he is going to play for). I was mad, when he gave a freekick for that beautiful piece of tackling. Furious, when he gave a red card. Liked the commentator after the replay though; "If that's a red card, every midfielder and defender that ever makes a tackle, just have to hang up their boots"

Now that was a good tackle.
