i played norwegian 1 division until i got injured (im 22) still struggling to get fit! hard to compare to english football, but i would say... lets see the order, premiership, championship, league one, league two, conference div?.... in that case it would be league one or league two i would have played in england if you could say that

well.. i like milner, but its true. he is not good enough and if not replaced we should get a new player at his position. i for once believe that milner would be a great squad player. works very hard and will always try to do his best (although sometimes thats not so great). milner is still improving (although someone here believe he doesn't) he is getting better at beating his man and in general he is still improving his game! i am not saying that he is the worst player, or the best for that matter. but i believe he does a good job and doesn't deserve a lot of criticism he is getting! i for once were hoping this year that solano would train with him and teach him some magic. didn't happen! but i think in January something will happen. just think about how surprised we were of him last year? if he does one more of those giant skips of improving he would be a very good player for us...

Smith ''tackles good''. He's not impressed me with his tackling ability, he's already picked up 4 yellow cards. well... scott parker had 17 yellow and a red card (two yellows) in 55 apperances for nufc! thats a yellow card each 2,8 game. smith has another job as well! usually chases people from att to def! as scott parker did the opposite! as i said... wonder how he would do in the dm pos but i could only find 4 yellow cards in 9 matches for smith? so thats a yellow card easy 2,25 game! hard to judge as hes only had a few games! but i get your drift! doesnt mean hes a bad tackler dough! although its a bit disturbing they all came in second half! is it his temper or just his eager to maintain pressure that causes them? sry for drifting a bit out of topic but cant find any other treads that suits the bill Scott Parker was a s*** tackler too although better than Smith. No he wasn't, he often won most of his tackles. Given that tackling itself is a 50-50 thing I think he was quite good at it. What Parker did wrong was he choose to tackle all the time, when there was no need to tackle all the time. Smith on the other hand can't win a tackle to save his life full stop, he's a dangerous player in the tackle and a liability and I prefer our players to stay on their feet unless they have no choice. Pressing is where it's at, which Smith is good at and so was Parker incidentally. Yes he was, Parker was similar to Smith in that every tackle had to be the big spectacular sliding tackle that the crowd often appreciates, you only have to watch Nicky Butt to see that you don't need to go to ground every time you make a tackle, if you continue to do that then you won't be able to get up in time to recover. As for pressing, Parker didn't press he'd chase, if players were passing the ball around he'd try and close down every one of them like a dog would in the local park chasing the ball, Smith is better than him in that area but both are poor midfielder players. But Parker often won his tackle so therefore he wasn't a s**** tackler, in that he could win the ball and often did. I disagree with you regarding pressing, he was good at it, but like with his tackling (where we agree), he did it all the time, meaning he'd cross parts of the field that he was meant to be protecting (space) or sticking to, i.e. he went everywhere on one big tackling and pressing rampage. Doesn't mean he couldn't do both though. Discipline was his issue, and not so much ability in the tackle/pressing. That and a lack of brains on the touchline to spot this, do something about it, and put such things to better use. 1. parker is not a bad tackler! but does hit em head on sometimes for sport and crowd (remember the scott parker tackle on joe cole mackems.gif ) the thing with parker that he does not judge the times for tackling as good as butt, butt sees more times when he can stay up and just take the ball than tackle. ill give you that! but that does not mean parker is a bad tackler. 2. the discussion wernt about tackling in it self but if smith could do as an DM, does he have the workrate, tackle, pressing (closing down the bag) and so on, that could with the right guidance (aka sam) be a good DM? as for now he doesnt look like a winger or a att midfielder in my eyes. and we probably wont use him up front as he looks like 6th (omg ameobi) in the line for the striker role!

the first two lines must have skipped my mind! well.. i dont think its a big surprise as well, it was cinda expected! we have not had the toughest opposition, as we could have had someone in the big 4 at the starting fixture! and a lot of people here think we should have done a lot better! (and i can def see why!) dough.. dont think its entirly big sams effort! and i think its a bit of a shock to see bolton so low with nearly the same squad

yet not good enough anywhere? yeah, or well... smith is a strange player! makes good efforts in every area in a lot of possitions... but not like anything exeptional in any areas! however i belive he is very good at creating rooms for both ours an theyr players, wich would be very good if sam could time his runs so we wouldnt get fucked in the arse everytime he does this! Alan "the ant" Smith! freekin everywhere and works hard!
-
well... i think everything he says makes good sence, good analysis of the newcastle squad! points quite good out the negatives and positives of the newcastle squad and big sam! a bit the same as we have said here for a good while, but he puts it in a good roundup of all the treads here! discuss! :parky:

i wonder how smith would do as a DM... works hard, tackles good... altough his distribution has been shit at times, could acually be a more versatile player then we think
-
in my opinion this is what would be the squad on match day... big sam will either field a 433/451 formation or a 442 formation depending on whos fit and not i dont think he will risk viduka as owen and ameobi is already out and viduka isnt fit so probably bench with 30 min max for him 433/451 formation i would really hope for in a 433 is this, and it does look like an offencive squad with milner covering up for emres lack of work, and smith doing the same for zoggy should provide space for some creativity(and dont give me the usual bullshit about emre and zoggy not having creative quality) Harper Beye Taylor Rozenhal Enrique Gerimi Emre Smith Milner Zoggy Martins Subs : Given, Edgar, Butt, Viduka, Faye with Viduka Butt/Faye as offence/defence this would give us a balanced squad.. difficult to see if someone else then edgar should be there or if given should start after arsenal game, but i guess rested Sams 4-4-2 Harper Beye Taylor Rozenhal Enrique Milner Emre Geremi Zoggy Martins Smith Subs : Given, Edgar, Butt, Viduka, Faye good squad as well, but dont think it gives us the same divirsity as the 433 does. however it is a formation most of the squad is used to, and it has been proven to be well anyways, good luck sam!

Going from 3 class strikers 1 mediocre (if you count smith in this one) and one s*** one (ameobi) to a injury reduced bunch of 1 class striker and 1 mediocre one... looking like 433 for me with nzogbia and milner at the wings same old newcastle :/

we are going to have a real problem against Petrov! he is quite fast, scores goals, good challenger! beye will have his hands full with him. man city have a couple of players in form, and a couple of players that are shit! will be a great game i think 2-2
-
really cant blame him dough.. would have done the same thing! altough.. i think he tried to make an impression at newcastle, but just failed at do so, so why not just make a bit of money as well? wish lucky all the best at his next club and hope he will enjoy life there! better there than here i say!

as for the derby game we should have subben owen for martins at halv time as for the injury, taken shaola off for beye (becouse ameobi was shit), moved zog and milner up, moved taylor at left (wich im quite shure a position he would be able to play) and converted to a 4-3-3 and go all out.... but sam didnt, and we lost. to bad! next match! come on m8! as for the other games 1 - A match against bolton where we performed brilliantly attack wise (oba showed of some skills and magils as well) good game 2 - A match against villa where we showed good defending and good attacking but lacked the finishing kill. average/good game 3 - A match against boro wich we really should have won, but lost to some dodgy defending and very dodgy attacking. very average game 4 - A match against wigan who sat back and counter attacked. we broke down the attacks but struggeled to bag it until the very end, great against "hard" opposition that defended well good game 5 - A match that i wished i never turned the telly on, horrible everything... defending, attacking, finishing (the few we had, rozhendal... bag that one next time!!!!!), tactical(djeeeez sam??) should have subbed at least 2 players at break time. very very very bad game depends on how you look at it m8, for my part one very bad, one very average and 3 good games??? still 5 matches in, we have played generally good with lots of good displays and some horrible moments we are still a team who miss most of the 1 team players (however you rate them) think of that m8
-
oba for starting XI
-
wish ive never turned the telly on...

whats the name of the cartoon? in norway thats pondus frode øverlie (norwegian) is the writer of the comic... class!
-
owen martins for my part.. think they do a good partnership.... viduka needs either a prolonged rest.. or a real week of hard training... does not look fit or maybe just jaded shouldnt be in the first XI for now
-
did anybody see the turkey game? how did emre do? ill watch him when he plays against norway for sure...
-
never heard of him.. but anyway... RIP
-
seriously... i dont understand why some people are picking on milner... and taylor as well.... maybe theyr not class acts yet... but still.. he is a good player. and he dont have major flaws such as the titus..... milner might have crosses going to mars.. but look at his improvement the last two years?... can only get better.... same for taylor... who was just a talent a couple of years ago... made himself a sturdy defender (yes you heard me) and he is also improving a lot for each game! maybe we need another winger... maybe another CB in cover... but i say we trust our talents and try to make them progress in the best manner... by playing!! as for another winger for competition, cheap right winger with lots of pace to get some difference in the squad would help....
-
if hes still got some pace and fitness left.. 1 year deal? good cover until january at least
-
11-0? thats a new world record for womens last one was held by norway 8-0
