I find our approach to these 2 games in 2 days a bit odd. We basically play a mish mash of first team regulars and reserves in both, but surely we'd be better off playing our reserves against Espanyol and a first choice 11 against Atletico. Our first choice team hasn't actually played together during all of pre season

I'm assuming that we're saving the intricate set piece routines for the competitive games. Would be a bit of a waste to use them in friendlies and teams can prepare for them. Either that or the set piece geezer is stealing a living

He's 6 months younger than Alfie Harrison, but having watched the match tonight he plays like he's 10 years older. So composed on the ball and hardly ever gives it away. He's got quality in the final third too. I think he could have a great season

People saying "we shouldn't spend more than £35/40m on Jackson" - what world are you living in. They signed him for £35m two years ago, he's got 34 goal involvements in 2 seasons and he's just turned 24. £35m would be an absolute fucking steal

Oh yes, he's a step down from Isak, but at this stage I'm not sure there's anyone in world football who we can realistically sign who isn't - Sesko would have been too. Even if you look purely at the stats of Jackson and Sesko - Jackson is 2 years older (just turned 24), when he was 22 (Sesko's age) he was getting 14 goals and 5 assists in the PL for Chelsea whilst Sesko was getting 13 goals and 5 assists in a worse league. I think people see Jackson miss some sitters over the course of the season and just automatically think he's crap, when he's far from it. He would fit really well in our team/style and I've got no doubt Howe would get him scoring 15-20 league goals

I think Gordon through the middle at Villa is inevitable anyway now. We won't be bringing a striker in until this weekend at the very earliest, and that doesn't leave enough time for them to work on our pressing triggers etc. Absolute mess

He'd probably score more goals for us this season than Sesko would tbh

Strangely, the people I've seen discussing Sesko have said that last season at Leipzig he didn't kick on and had a poor season. But his output in terms of goal involvements was actually higher than the previous season, and Leipzig had a bad season as a team too. These numbers are actually pretty impressive for a 21/22 year old striker
