Yeah, same for me, but when Remy got the ball on the left just after the tackle was the loudest where I was sat
-
Utterly f***ing pathetic Isn't true in my opinion. We completed at least 3 or 4 in the first half that I can think of off the top of my head. yaaaaay I'm obviously not endorsing the way we played, which was utter shit hoof ball, but the article is a load of rubbish.

Well there wasnt 194 long balls for starters. Absolute rubbish article. Yeah, what exactly is the source of this 194 long balls article? I'm pretty certain that Shola won at least a couple of headers from long balls, so how is that not 'completed.' He also took a couple of long balls from Iron Mike down on his chest in the 1st half so I think it's a load of bollocks.

Newcastle update from BBC's Ben Smith: "Newcastle's bid for Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier has stalled and there is no sign that the clubs are prepared to restart talks. At this stage, no other arrivals are expected at St James' Park before tonight's deadline." Thread closed until summer

This would make the season ticket decision a lot easier. Looks like a load of bollocks thankfully though

I'm the same. I'm a little bottler though. Can't decide, man! I'm struggling with it too, so hard to let go of it!

I can almost, almost, see the argument behind only getting Remy in in the summer. It wasn't what we were hoping for, but when you look at the squad we had and the realistic transfer targets for our club, it was hard to improve on without a major investment - we had options at full back and centre back, central midfield was quite well stocked with Anita adjusting to the league and we brought in Remy to play up top. We probably could have done with another striker or winger/wide forward but we weren't looking too bad. However, now is a completely different scenario. We've lost our best and most influential midfielder, Cisse seems completely incapable of doing anything productive on the pitch anymore, Jonas has gone (not a starter but was capable of filling and covering a lot of positions when injuries struck), Colo's injury problems persist and he will possibly be gone next year. And what do we do? Sod all apart from bring in another loan striker, and that is what is completely unacceptable. We have lots of weaknesses in the squad now (as evidenced by the state of our bench on Tuesday), we have lost our best player (and judging by his quotes we knew he was going to be a goner this month), and still we don't do anything and haggle over a couple of million here or there. Compared to the situation in the summer (which was frustrating enough in itself) it's absolutely incredible we still don't have a single permanent signing this season.
-
And some people claim we have a strong squad...
-
You didnt need an article to tell you we had done sod all this window did you? Not really no, but would have been nice to think that we had at least made a single bid for someone
-
From today's De Jong article: 'Telegraph Sport understands that, although Newcastle have talked to clubs this month about players they are interested in, they have not made a single bid and time is running out.' Not sure I have much confidence in us making a bid, negotiating and signing someone in the space of 3 days like PSG did

8 goals in 21 starts for Gladbach, not that bad considering everyone thinks he's been shit over there
-
Going to be furious if that happens but I can honestly see it

You are right, there have been no other events in the last 6 years that could affect peoples decision at all. Its entirely a case of this transfer...... It wasnt one or two individual straws that put the camel in traction Fair enough... so the Cabaye sale adds a straw to the camels back, when we signed Sissoko and Debuchy et al did that make you much more likely to renew? Obviously everyone is entitled to their own decision, I'm a bit biased because I would absolutely love to go to every home game. So signing a couple of players makes everything ok again, absolutely laughable. Where did I say that? If player sales add to the negativity, then surely player purchases should add to the positivity? I know there aren't enough, but they're some. FWIW the signings last January did persuade me to keep it. I was probably going to keep it anyway but those couple of signings tipped me over the edge in the same way as the lack of signings this season has tipped me in the opposite direction
-
I think it's been coming for a while, not just down to these couple of signings. There have been increasingly more and more reasons not to have one, and hardly any reasons persuading me to keep one in the last year or two

He's never convinced me in the number 10 role. Seems to get crowded out by the opposition midfield and then tries to do too much Yeah, but we have created a forward role that Cabaye was occupying. Also, I'm hoping he won't feel the need to try as hard if he knows he's playing for a while. Look at the 5th place season, the amount of little passes and one-twos he played with the forwards was brilliant. And he interchanged beautifully with other members of the front 3. I just think that the conclusion that he's not suited for a central role has been reached far too early. I'm more than willing for him to be given a chance there as I want him in the side desperately (and surely he must be given a regular start now unless we magically replace Cabaye). Good point about the need to try hard as well actually. He's only ever been given a half or a game here and there to prove himself in the number 10 role and probably needs time to adapt to it fully
-
You have to cancel direct debit pre-31/01 on the multiyear if that's what you meant? Yep... So you don't even get to see the transfer window play out fully... We should have an idea (probably from the French press) if we'll be signing anyone before the 31st. If there's no strong rumours by the 30th I'm cancelling. Then I'll watch as the Ibrahimovic swap goes through at the last minute
-
Yep I think so, got mine written out ready
-
If the fee is £20m it seems a bit cheap to me seeing as Mata went for almost double and wasn't even getting a game

It's not as a result of one player leaving in Jan. It's as a result of not permanently signing a single player this season, a complete lack of ambition on the club's behalf to strengthen and spend the money we do have on improving the squad, on repeatedly belittling the club and the fans and hiring Joe f***ing Kinnear to lie to the fans every transfer window. I don't see why me and my girlfriend should travel from York every other week and spend thousands per year for this treatment to be honest. If some other mug wants it they're welcome to it
-
I'm the same as bowlingcrofty. If no-one comes in to replace cabaye then I'm waving goodbye to my season ticket
-
I still have a faint hope of maybe getting De Jong in on loan, but that doesn't fill me with much excitement anyway to be honest. Would at least mean Shola is one further down the pecking order

Class! Why does nobody in England know about him? Probably because he has spent his entire career in Sweden Swedish league is about on par with League 1, so let's not pretend he is an excellent player or owt. Great guy though (met him a couple of times), and he found his level here in Sweden. Like he says at the end of the article, it would be quite nice to see more British players try their luck here or in other smaller leagues in Europe instead of staying their whole careers in the lower leagues in England. Daryl Smylie is doing reasonably well over here as well, isn't he? He should fit in in the Changing Rooms at least
