I'm normally supportive of Pardew, but from those quotes he must think we're absolute imbeciles.

What's the proper refereeing for this? IIRC the ref can't do nothing if external objects/people disturb the match (like that beach ball in the Sunderland-Liverpool game) since he can't send them off or award a penalty. The article says that the physio's intervention kept the score at 2-2 and they went through to the semi on away goals! So it would appear the ref did nothing.

Hmmm, it's quite clear that we're not going to be spending more than about £8m on a new striker (if we get one at all), so to miss out on Bent for about £6m is pretty disappointing. Would guarantee goals and create competition for Cisse.
