  1. According to ChatGPT we're missing key names like Isak, Almirón and Trippier from the start, but still have quality in Gordon, Joelinton, and Bruno Guimarães. Prediction is: Newcastle 1–2 Arsenal Scorers: Gordon for Newcastle. Saka and Gyökeres for Arsenal.

  4. Strand Larsen would have a lot to offer us. Good player.
  5. Yes he is, and that is a problem. in a modern football organisation with a Director of Football, analyst teams, and a clearly defined sporting framework, the manager should not be irreplaceable. The whole point of that structure is to reduce dependency on a single individual. Instead of the manager alone setting the playing style, recruitment strategy, and development plan, these elements are embedded in the club as a whole. Having said that, the owners are to blame for us currently not having a CEO or DoF.

We 100% would have, if Mitchell had stayed and got it his way.
  7. Yeah. The days of managers having the kind of power Ferguson and Wenger had are long gone (just look at what happened to Man Utd and Arsenal when they left). At a well-run club, life goes on almost like nothing happened when the manager moves on (Liverpool, Brighton, etc.). Newcastle aren’t at that stage yet. I also just can’t see Howe working with anything other than a DoF who’s basically a “yes man,” and to me it’s pretty clear Mitchell walked because he completely disagreed with the club’s transfer strategy. I’ve got huge respect for the job Howe’s done — he’s shown massive growth as a manager. But I can’t help feeling that Newcastle’s success is starting to create a bit of a monster 😉

As if Liverpool would let that happen? Look what happened to Sesko, Mbeumo, Cunha, Pedro…

You never know — we might learn a thing or two after hunting players also wanted by the cartel. So instead of bidding for Guehi, which would immediately prompt a response from Liverpool, we go for Thiaw.

Nearly all players bought since the takeover have turned out successful. There is absolutely no reason believing Howe doesn't know what he's doing regarding Thiaw. And by the way, next Saturday we kick off the season with the formerly howler-prone Steve Bruce-reject Fabian Schar in defence and formely patethic striker Joelinton in midfield. I have been critical of Eddie Howe, and I believe that the power he is about to gain at Newcastle is not in the club’s best long-term interest. I am unsure whether he can function well within a modern structure with a sporting director. That said, spotting talent is something I trust him 100%.

Before the 'here we go' we need a tweet about another club HIJACKING the deal (Palace or something) and that the player is UNDECIDED about which club to join.
  12. I think there’s a chance that a replacement for Isak will be brought in during this window, regardless of whether he is sold or not. From a purely financial standpoint, it wouldn’t really become an issue until the PSR deadline next summer. Best case: a replacement is signed in August, and Isak stays until next summer unless Liverpool coughs up £150m now in August. In that case, it will probably, over time, be in everyone’s interest for him to contribute to the team next season. For Isak, it’s important to keep potential suitors interested (+ it’s a World Cup year), and for Newcastle it’s important both from a sporting and financial perspective to maintain his market value.

We haven’t had any known knock-backs when it comes to defenders, so it seems Thiaw is pretty high on the priority list (unlike the striker hunt, where we’ve basically run out of letters in the alphabet). So I’m feeling positive — if he actually shows up.

  15. The club has long been aware that the player prefers a move to Manchester—if they decide to fully commit. That €5 million gap could be interpreted as a “discount,” reflecting Šeško’s personal preference. Now the question is whether RB Leipzig are willing to honor that preference with a discount of their own.
  16. Yes, journalists who make a living from clickbait want us to believe that — and they might be right. Initially, though, both Newcastle and Man Utd would only bid if they received some encouragement from the player. So far, the only club to place a bid is Newcastle…
  17. One of Slovenia’s biggest and most reputable newspapers Delo, which doesn’t engage in clickbait, never backtracked on their two stories on Friday and Saturday about Sesko choosing Newcastle… maybe they were right all the time
