Sorry like I forgot your mates account for the majority of others.
-
Thought the corner was excellent today tbh. Basically didn't stop for 90mins and was pro-Howe

And to me. The point is being missed. What we think as NUFC fans...I.e. (Keegan is a God like being) and what everyone else sees are different.
-
And I am not denying that. However, if you ask most football fans what they thought of Keegan they will remember "I will love it if we beat them" and the throwing a title. Keegan is undoubtedly a God to Newcastle fans and rightly so.
-
Sorry guys but the truth hurts. Folk remember winners not runners up. The engraving on the trophy further emphasises so.
-
Sorry bud but calling it how it is. Keegan is the heart and soul of NUFC in the last like 40 years of existence, but ask anyone outside of that...he's a try hard and a Geordie love symbol.
-
The reality. I adore KK but let's face it. He is the charismatic face of defeat in the PL era.
-
Haven't seen it bud so can only work off what I know....
-
Keegan is arguably more iconic for Newcastle fans and rightly so but in terms of world football no one remembers him for NUFC other than getting beat by Liverpool and losing the title emphatically to Man U. Our name is engraved on a trophy because of Eddie Howe.
-
Aye and they (nearly) all give their all. That says enough to me.
-
It's a fucking no brainer. There's folk on here far more intelligent than me with regards to global football etc. But yoh ask the questions who could do more and better and no one gives a valid answer. Like fuck me man. We all want better. What is viable though? Is there even a better manager in the "better league in the world" is there fuck.
-
*Disclaimer: spoken from the heart But folk can get to fuck shitting on Howe like. One of our greatest ever managers if not the greatest. The club have failed him and no-one at the club has met expectations or indeed exceeded them as frequently as he has. If you're not behind Howe you're a fucking idiot. Several pints deep but fuck it. Colours nailed to the mast.
-
Two metrics: Did you get CL? Did you win a cup? Last time I checked Villa and us chopped and changed. Only we won a cup.
-
Erm....okay. I deny those claims...clearly
-
Is he a bigger fish in the pond? Maybe to outsiders but ad far as I can see he's an expensive penalty taker and that's it. Think Elanga probably has the same number of in play goals as him now
-
You raise a fair point but I do also think it's fair for folk like me to ask what a proposed solution looks like and not just the problem. I honestly don't think there is a better manager we'd get than Howe. I think there are flaws to almost every argument made against him.
-
Woltemade and Wissa were choices of necessity rather than desire in the end and we lost our superstar striker for £130m or whatever it was. Neither Woltemade or Wissa were brought in during the summer but after the season started and one was injured for months. Hence why Howe deserves time.

Depends who you ply with enough drink Perhaps a bit sad/yawn for some but my family motto is actually "Nil Desperandum" or as a modern take you can use the words of Sam Fender "I must repel the dying light" and I use this wherever I feel I need to. Maybe that's just my coping method, but in tough times it helps drag me through. My feeling is that being positive in times of negativity gives people the leadership or direction to get out of it - otherwise we'd all spiral downwards. Appreciate sometimes it's delusional. Anyways...now I'm just talking philosophical shite. but with the likes of Howe and the lads - I am fairly convinced if we shake some of this over saturation and football fatigue off and get right behind them, we can cause a few upsets and climb the table.
-
And win we will. Mark my word. *I will banish myself for a fortnight if not.
-
I will agree to disagree. If you're winning then sitting in and defending for a half isn't in itself an issue (even if that means you barely muster up a shot). The plab works if individual mistakes aren't made. For the most part - we haven't picked up points cause individuak mistakes were made. Some of which were Howes but many of which were players in the team.
-
I don't share that perception of a good performance. A good performance is playing well (I.e within the teams capability or perhaps even beyond their standard level) for at least half or the majority of the game. If (for example) we play well for 60 if the 90minutes then that's a decent performance in my eyes. Just like you can defend all game and play well - you don't have to attack all game. Therefore you can play well and lose, just as you can play well and draw and we did versus PSG. Ultimately, it's a results business. We all know that. But results aren't that far off previous seasons.
-
Sorry, but you're brushing over of some of these games as alluded to in my previous post in response to @Chicken Dancer and it's a tad frustrating. "Winning until the last minute" does not discount an otherwise good performance. Performance is judged over 90minutes not just the 1 or 2 minutes we fail in. For some of the fixtures I think we've played well in see above (I cannot be arsed to type them again )
-
I agree with you on the fixtures listed with the exclusion of Leeds (h) possibly, but I'll let you have it for diplomacy sake Personally, I feel folk take the results as playing badly too often. Liverpool (h) Arsenal (h) Barcelona (h) Chelsea (h) Villa (h) (go on you can afford me this one) These were all games we played very well in for at least 60minutes. I appreciate football is played over 90 don't get me wrong. Everton (a) blew them away. Villa (a) deserved to win and missed sitters. I think about 17 teams have been inconsistent this season to varying standards (excluding Arsenal, Burnley and Wolves) and obviously two of them are for the wrong reasons. So we're not alone. Thats not to say it's good either. We've missed an opportunity to kick on it seems. So I honestly do get some of the criticisms I just feel that we weren't going into the season as well as I had perhaps perceived at the time and the chickens have come home to roost a bit (is that the phrase?) And it's better to back the lads there than to get twitchy.
-
I suspect he won't this season tbh and I say that as a staunch Howe loyalist. However, I think the situations he and the squad have been put in and the lack of direction from those behind the scenes (and Isak) are the biggest issue and Howe - for me - deserves at least til the end of this calendar year as an absolute bare minimum. Again; just one of the reasons why is that I don't see any clear alternatives who could achieve more than he is, presently.
