  1. I found this last night. 3 of us who'd previously not spoken about the summer or anything were all in agreement that we'd spend 70 or 80million still and get the signings we needed and if we did this with Isak still here we'd be looking very strong. Get Isak performing and Wissa in, perhaps even a squad player for CM and we've had a pretty good window I'd say. Stood up to the English champions and bolstered our squad.

    Yoane Wissa

See you on Monday at Darsley Park.
  3. They've won either way to some degree, in the short term. Unsettled a potential title rival.
  4. Sorry I should have also said...if a player requests a transfer then it is a request, so the club have the right to decline you'd think. But then in a more reasonable situation what right does a club have to hold a player against their will? Could a player "retire" to bypass that? Again I summer this is all covered by a third party insurance company?
  5. I don't know what the ramifications are for players tbh beyond 6 weeks of fines? I'd imagine there are massive insurance policies applied to these kind of contractual agreements that are enforced once the period for a fine has surpassed. It also must hold an element of depreciation of the asset for which the club should have to be repaid - you'd think- in line with FMV for said asset... Maybe that's stupid - I don't know. But you'd think players would have to pay that (to remove liability) - or the clubs themselves.
  6. It wouldn't surprise me too if he handed in a transfer request and it was rejected tbh. Which we don't know at present.
  7. For me I'd be surprised if this isn't considered an act of disloyalty thus acting as a waiver for any potential bonuses.
  8. I am sure I read or heard players can be fined up to 6 weeks wages max.
  9. Playing devils advocate here somewhat - but if the way we have played the Isak situation "makes us look weak" or whatever. What would keeping Isak for a year and signing say Jackson and Wissa look like?..
  10. Wealth almost is irrelevant here. The Saudis may be happy to discard of an £150m asset given their wealth, but given FFP and their project, they won't. Only one way their asset maintains its value and that's through playing and performing. Only way Isak get this move is by doing the same, or his career will pass him by.
  11. Very exhausting. What I took from what Howe said was that there is a path back for Isak if he wants it, but if he or the team aren't ready then it won't happen. I think that's a masterstroke personally. Have to remember - your Dan Burn's and dare I say it - your Bruno's and Joelinton's will all be fucked off with him. I suspect Joelinton as much as anyone after Howe has been disrespected and helped him resurrect his career in a place he now calls his second home.
  12. BDB can forever be the winner in my reinvented memory. He was the winner that day anyways - him and all the other Geordie lads involved. Absolutely won at fucking life there though BDB in that 1-0 win. Bullet header for the winning goal AND a clean sheet for his boyhood club.
  13. Interesting. Make it into a nice paste with a bit of ham in a scottie and it's game on though Geordie fusion.
  14. I reckon a little bit of cumin on them bad lads sports them out or paprika.
  15. You have to think they're in the same predicament as us basically. So aye, I'd agree.
  16. Half the forum wanted rid of Longstaff and Dubravka too so aye - maybe for some We've improved strength in depth at GK and RW, we've weakened at CM and CF. Like I say, I get it, but I think the narrative from social media is giving people 2 sets of two and they're getting 5 atm.
  17. Sensible. If we feel we can get a tune out of Jackson - despite being expensive - I will trust them with that though - especially if we keep Isak for the season.
  18. It's relentless. Folk whinging in every single thread about everything FWIW - I don't rate Jackson at that price either, but based on the records folk are posting I feel I've been perhaps holding him in a worse regard than he actually is. The Sesko transfer is yet to be 'off', as is the Wissa one and the Isak one is as off as both of those. We all seem to think we have money to spend too. I get it, I really do get it, that it seems fairly shite but fuck me its relentless on here like we could sign any one (or two) of these people and keep Isak for the season yet.
  19. I don't get what people want at this stage to some degree tbh.
  20. If Jackson is a press-aholic and you then have Wissa in a 352 that could be interesting.
  21. Sacks Doreen from the canteen cause they're skint and signs an €80million Slovenian striker. Shouldn't be allowed that.
