Miles better than Simpson at RB. Hardly surprising but we looked much better with him there. I suspect Perch will play there if he is fit and Simpson's injury is a bad one, but Anita isn't a bad contingency plan at the position.

Poor performance overall. We struggled for much of the game in the midfield and Cisse looked poor again. Worth mentioning that Guzan was brilliant in goal for them, and as many have said they worked very hard and deserved a point from the game. Still some positives we can take from the game, Bigirimana was excellent and we looked a lot better when Anita went to right-back. Ben Arfa can win games by himself and if he can stay fit he's going to have one hell of a year. At the end of the day most of us would have taken 4 points from the first three games and Pardew now has time to sort things out over the international break. Him in Ligue 1 will be carnage, the refs are much more card happy than they are in the Premier League, but if Marseille get him the ball in the right areas then the quality of delivery he can produce will suit Gignac, who Baup seems to prefer to the likes of Remy and the Ayew brothers. In terms of his affection for us, that much was obvious in the derby win last year. He loved every minute of that. We showed faith in him and he re-payed us in our first season back with some superb play at times. He can be a bit of a mental case but he built a genuine rapport with the fans during his time with us. The likes of him and Nolan should be applauded for the job they did in stabilising the club, though Hughton obviously gets the greatest credit.

Yeah needs to get his season started. Was poor in all the games so far but he should be nice and rested now ready for 2moz. I reckon he'll get going relatively soon, hopefully tomorrow. Ramadan hasn't helped, but he looked sharp in the 1st leg against Atromitos and has soon as he gets one he'll be back to scoring regularly.

GB were awful, why Ramsey didn't start I'll never know, we looked much better going forward with him on the field. Giggs is still a decent creative presence in the midfield but his lack of energy means he is a passenger towards the end of games. Back four and Butland looked alright but the selection of Rose on the left was baffling to me, he offered absolutely nothing all game. Also if Liverpool spend £15m on Joe Allen I will laugh my tits off.
