Wish I could be a bit more excited about this. It's obviously great that we can retain players who've been consistently linked with a move but his form has been on the slide for a while and his injury record is appalling. Hope he can get back to the player he was earlier on in his stint and just spend a decent period not crocked.

Madrid looked crap last night, it was effectively an elevated version of "give it to Maxi" under Brucey except with Vini Jr. Not surprised as it's probably the most long-term cut throat job in football.

Gallagher will be a good addition for Villa but he's not what we need to add into our midfield mix at the moment.

He's been a bit better in the last month or so, but I think his overall case is helped by the fact that Murphy has gone off a cliff this season and Elanga looks absolutely dump so far. One we won't get much sale value out of and one we're kind of stuck with unless we take a huge loss. His place as "second best winger this season" isn't because he's been stellar at all. I'd still be looking to sell as I think there'll be clubs willing to throw money at him & would pray we get a wide player with some stronger technical attributes. But I don't think it happens, I think Howe will stick with him.

So far this season: 16 starts, 14 sub appearances (roughly 1600 minutes of playing time); 11 goals. A goal every 145 minutes or so. An absolutely class return for a non-penalty taking wide player.

Early days but he's not as good a finisher as I remember from Brentford. Hopefully just ring rust. He is getting into a lot of the right positions and helps us stretch the play which is promising.
