When do you think Michael Owen will leave Newcastle United?
Ketsbaia replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Agreed. Keeping us in the Premiership as well as the end of season prize money (isnt it 500k per place?) pays off any potential fee (plus wages). -
theyre a weird team. on the one hand, theyre squad should be nowhere near this high in the league and theyve lost at home to west brom and bolton. then they pull out some cracking results at villa park and against spurs. jekyll and hyde

what if given leaves?? (god i hope not)

Guardian: Shearer clears way to become Newcastle manager
Ketsbaia replied to thewellander's topic in Football
i've always maintained that shearer should wait. but momentum has been gathering and its as if we've send out an SOS call. the club is in crisis, the city is in crisis and we need our knight in shining armour - shearer's the one. its time, alan. save us. -
out of the list of players that have scored against us, it can only be denilson really. we could get samba too, but bburn wouldnt loan him. and i'd be dead happy with denilson and riise (throw in appiah and we're laughing)....even though some people thought riise would be crap when we were linked with him in the summer, who'd seriously not take him now? im just worried about who he'll sell....

used to love soccer AM, altho i'll still watch it when i remember to. without lovejoy its just a shadow of its former self tho...... i quite like him on 'something for the weekend' on a sunday morning, he has good banter with simon rimmer. awful awful book though

my friend is mates with one of shearer's daughters and apparantly he wouldnt consider a job until both daughters were at uni. dunno how true that is. -
milner. followed by parker and faye. but definitely milner

by xmas it should settle down, and its imperative we're out of the bottom three by then. yesterday was a disaster and with chelsea next week, its obviously a matter of damage limitations. with stoke vs west brom, spurs vs blackburn, boro vs bolton and sunderland vs west ham, we know our rivals will pick up points and put us further adrift. but if spurs and stoke win, defeat would only mean dropping to 18th. either way, we're in trouble. but still wouldnt take 17th

today i realised how much i truly hate this club. for what they put us through. every week, without fail. theyve ruined my life....yet i always come back for more. :-[

From The Sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1932852.ece to be honest, there wont be a better opportunity for him to come here, so no wonder he's throwing his hat in now. dunno if he'd fit with an ambitious new board, but we could do worse.

he's destined to join Spurs -
Watching Steve Claridge on Setanta saying how "Man United look like they have a chink in their armour". I think thats highly offensive to Park Ji-Sung.
-
I think he's very overrated. Even if he wasn't, his history with newcastle means he should never ever come here.
-
its positive seeing the club going in for players like delph.
-
it could go the opposite way though

if people start booing milner, ive had enough. cant believe some people.....

How did he do well for us? Serious question. All he did IMO was make people dread watching the team as well as dragging us down towards relegation. I'd say that the time Allardyce was here is the only time as a Newcastle fan were I've been made to feel utterly hopeless about the team, as if we had no chance what so ever of winning a game. Also yes the Football has been far more attractive since he's gone, but then the ball being passed successfully from one player to the other once on the ground is enough to make the Football more attractive then under Allardyce. Yeh but where's that got us?? 2nd bottom. Quick question, would you rather win ugly and stay in the Premiership or suffer the embarrassment and disaster of relegation but at least we could say "well we played pretty football"? Its a results business and we were getting them. Last season was one of our best starts to the season in recent memory and when he left we were 11th iirc. Comparing to last season, I'd much prefer the 2nd November last year. We've been losing to the likes of Reading, Derby, Wigan and Sheff Utd for several years now so it wasnt just a Big Sam thing. I'm not gonna defend him to the grave, I just believe that he isnt Satan himself and if people sat back at looked at the situation objectively, theyd realise he was doing well for the club.

after wednesday night, didnt think there'd be a worse set of results, but now I've been proved wrong. bloody typical. what a horrible horrible week. the only consolation is that if all these teams are winning, someone else has to be losing....our relegation rivals from 2 weeks ago are being replaced. but unfortunately, we're winning games to merely keep up with the rest, theres no opportunity to pull away. and monday night is about the 4th "must win game" in a row. the fulham and wigan games are massive games for this club.

NUFC players whose contracts end Summer 2009
Ketsbaia replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Harper are Owen are good enough to play first-team football. Dunno if we can afford to let Ameobi AND Viduka go (especially if Owen leaves), Cacapa can go if we find a good replacement and maybe keep a couple of young 'uns on (Danquah, Donaldson). The rest can go. -
In the minority here, but I personally dont understand all the Big Sam hate. He did well for us and maybe the football wasnt the most attractive - but has it really been good since?? We've had some shocking runs of form since he's gone (ok, the 3 month one last year began with him) and I can't help feeling we'd have been better off sticking by him....especially now. What I'd give for stability.....

Can Liverpool mount a genuine title challenge this year? No.
-
bit worried that theyll go on a good run now. i hate spurs as much as the next guy......but thank you so much for the timing. seriously. good day to do it, all things considered.
-
that performance today was unforgivable tbh

very very nervous. i hate derby day so much and a few days ago was certain sunderland will win. but now, im getting slightly optimistic - dunno why. given beye taylor coloccini bassong duff butt guthrie nzogbia martins shola BENCH: harper, enrique, cacapa, geremi, jonas, barton, xisco JFK might go with geremi over duff/zoggy, while barton will come on in the 2nd half this 11 has geordies (taylor, ameobi), players with experience of this derby (nzogbia, given, butt) and the likes of duff and martins who have played in last seasons games and i think this will ultimately help us. COME ON TOOOOOOOOON
