i'd love for him to come back, if he could manage on his terms without tied hands. obviously he'd have a budget to work within, but a budget which would be 'first team only' and someone else would recruit young talent to the academy / squad, with some sort of separate budget. i know it probably would never happen, it should, which probably means it won't

that said, chris mort used to speak to the press and to the manager, which seems a hell of a lot more than llambias. it seemed that mort was sort of a peacekeeper or mediator

aside from zico and houllier, dalglish is probably the best option been mentioned, although i couldn't imagine him taking orders from dennis wise on who he could or couldn't sign. barnes and rush would probably still be a better front line than smith and ameobi though

he's a great player but he's only really reliable as a squad player now, i reckon between him and fat ronaldo you'd probably cover the season and get a few goals
