I absolutely hate the way when we retrieve possession from a corner or committed attack, Krul (which he is obviously instructed to do) waits until the opposition are all back in position along with us, and then he knocks it long and we lose it (again). I appreciate the fact that this can be good to calm things down and take the sting out of the game, but with players like Jonas, Cisse, Ba and Santon, why don't we focus on trying to hit teams on the break???! Get wide, push out immediately. It's all so negative. Doing this played right into Stokes hands. We allowed them to set up and swallow up the long ball. Pardew's a buffoon, man.

Think I might cry if we lose this one. This season is becoming such a nightmare...

I'm miles better than this useless cunt. How is he a professional footballer? Just fuck off man.

Always good to get your first sentence completely wrong Fine, we had about 2 other shots in the second half. Whoopdie doo!

Loss. They'll run rings around us.

We had one chance the whole match and we scored it. Good in the sense that we actually took our chance, but depressing that once again we created next to nothing against an absolutely woeful team- lets face it, Stoke are absolutely appalling. Stoke completely overran us in midfield, despite us attempting to play 3 in there. Why? Because there was no pressing whatsoever, we just backed off and let them knock it long. We completely pussied out. The first 30-35mins were actually OK. We created nothing but refrained from hoofing it and attempted to keep the ball, but yet again no penetration. After that we slow resorted to bad habits and wellied it up to Ba and Cisse to try and figure something out with it. Conceding was only a matter of time as we completely dropped off yet didn't seem to have much of a clue as to how to defend against them- Etherington and Jones destroying Simpson and Williamson. Tonight Pardew had the choice to drop either Simpson or Williamson but bottled it. I know people say 'oh but we had to load the midfield', but why not play an attacking midfielder in there as well i.e Marveaux instead of three defensive bloody midfielders! Reduce the amount of liabilities in the starting team and life will be easier, but no he still cant realise. We'll get absolutely bummed by Wigan on Monday. They're a semi-decent footballing team and the way we're set up anyone can beat us. Get Pardew out, ASAP. Absolutely disgraceful.

Relegation stuff this. Massively worrying. What a cowardly performance.

F.A. Cup 3rd Round - Brighton (a) - 05/01/13 - 12:30pm KO (live on ITV1)

I love the FA Cup, but I've all but given up on us in any sort of a cup competition. -
Tonight and Monday are massive for Pardew. If we start and finish like we have in the last few games then I think it's clear he either doesn't have a clue or doesn't value his job. Probably both. Results are the main thing, but some sort of a performance would be acceptable too

Loss. Players and manager have given up the chase already, games over for Silver Fox. -
Lambert left a bigger club than Wigan to manage Villa. Swansea attracted Laudrup. Fulham have got Jol. Even if it's not Martinez I find the idea we couldn't attract somebody who could coach decent football into our squad a bit mad. Even if it is Ashley/Llambias, I think you'd have a queue of managers willing to do it. I agree, the opposing attitude is exactly what Ashley and his oiks want the fans to think. There's an undercurrent of "Little old Newcastle, we're lucky to even be in the top league, so forget about properly competing" within day-to-day communications and also wider level stuff, and it's f***ing bullshit. We're not Man Utd, but we're being completely shortchanged with the lack of ambition shown at the club. In that sense Ashley and Pardew are a very good fit. Yep.

Sack-able performance today. Simpson and Williamson glaringly bad, but the man has a choice to not play them (despite limited options). Its simply no good. I really, really, really, really, reeeeeaaallllyyy, really don't give a fuck that we finished 5th last year- that's not going to save us when we're in the bottom 3/4 at Christmas. The guy hasn't a clue and is making each game more and more unbearable, I don't care if there's not many free agents up for the job...maybe Mike Ashley could for once just grow a pair and pay decent money to improve us and poach someone like Martinez from Wigan. If he's not sacked tomorrow morning and we see a similar result & performance against Stoke (and maybe even Wigan) then it's a very worrying thought as to how far we'll have to sink for him to be sacked.

Hopefully not. Today has got to have sealed his fate.
-
Speechless at how bad that was. He must be looking for compensation.

Scrape a draw.

I agree. Looking at our upcoming games it's hard to see where the points will come from, especially with our December run. Big, big game.

I've seen that before, it's spine tingling! Absolutely unbelievable. But I guess (watching) football was so different in general back then that you can't even compare it to today's game. Most of the time our home atmospheres are flat, but we're not the worst and its at every ground up and down the country, or certainly in the top division. It did seem that SJP was slowly regaining a bit of its bite and vigour when the Leazes Corner was in full flow but that fire was stamped out and it seems that about from a small pocket of fans in the Strawberry Corner/Gallowgate there really is very little vocal support. The Spurs game was quite lively, but that was probably because it was the first game of the season + the buzz after the previous campaign. Adding to all of this the fact that we have to put up with such a turgid, ineffective style of play which is just deflating to watch, it doesn't seem like the place will be rocking again any time soon.

Aye, load of s****. That Jimmy Savile rubbish needs to disappear as well. And those Danny Simpson chants were embarrassing too. Hopefully in the later stages of Europe when ticket demands increase the charvas will be crowded out from games/The Corner.

I'd love to see him leave tomorrow, but there are so many factors going against that happening (i.e no good replacement) that it would be catastrophic to do so. As I said, limp to the end of the season with this dinosaur and try and shift him then.

Looks like a really good player, you can see he's a product of the Ajax academy- very well groomed technically...he's an intelligent player. It's very hard to judge him in games where we are constantly outnumbered, though. Why wasn't Bigirimana holding with him last night? We got completely overrun (again) in the second half, Anita's been trying to do the work of two men in the last few games. He's come from a football environment where tactics such as Pardew's are alien to him, you can see the lack of movement from our team doesn't suit his ability and what he has to offer us. I really like him as a player and hope that we soon find a system that accommodates players like Vernon; under the right manager he could flourish. And for me, when people were bemoaning his signing saying we didn't need him: of course we did, we just needed to bolster our defensive ranks as well but failed miserably to do that. That's not his fault, that's Mike Ashley's fault for refusing to acknowledge the fact that to compete at the top domestically and in European competition he's got to spend money. It's shit, but the way football is nowadays it's incredibly difficult to compete when your sole aim is to balance the books.
-
You can see he'd be good in a team that plays the right way and to technical players' strengths. Useless trying to judge players like Marveaux under our current set up.
