  1. This is a positive thread, for positive people. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/ilove/years/1999/gallery/340/league.jpg
  2. This game on Sunday just becomes more important doesn't it? It's not about local pride any more, lose to these knackers and relegation becomes a step closer. Now I for one don't believe ninety minutes of football can get you relegated, but this fixture could do a hell of a lot of damage should it go the wrong way. We're battered, humiliated, down in the dumps but for ninety minutes on Sunday lets just forget that. This game is huge, a draw doesn't do huge amounts of damage but a win could propel us up to eleventh and provides much needed momentum going into the game at the Hawthorns. Oh and losing? It's unthinkable. You've heard this message before, but I'm not talking about "the cockney mafia" or positive supporting or any of this s***, its about saving our season. This game is a cup final as far as we're concerned and a damn important one at that. So let’s give these lads a reception they'll never forget. For ninety minutes lets give these players belief they can beat an average mackem side. For ninety minutes let’s stay united. In the words of Delia Smith: Lets be 'avin you. Howay the lads.
  3. Different managers have different injury records, and these records seem to follow them throughout their tenures, and as such causality can be drawn from training methods. You never seem to see good managers at clubs with bad injury records. Even Freddy Shepherd realised that the manager can play an important role in cutting down on player injuries by the end. Man United currently have Welbeck, Rafael, Ji-Sung Park, Nani, Anderson, Evens, Rooney, Evra, Ferdinand, Brown and Hargreaves out. Yes your training methods can lead to injuries, but you can't infer that after one injury crisis can you?
  4. Right so let me get this straight. You’re saying we looked in similar shape with Beye, Guthrie, N'Zogbia and Martins in the side. You're also blaming Kinnear for the amount of injuries we have with absolutely nothing to base it on? Aye, righto.
  5. a) We were like this before the injuries b) the majority of the injuries were probably the fault of Kinnear's training methods. a) Were we? Could of fooled me. b) A bit childish.
  6. Aye it has nothing to do with half the first team being crocked does it?
  7. Why bump this thread? Fucking pathetic. Do people really think one result is an indication of the path a team's season is going to follow? Just look at Reading, it just doesn't work that way. Keegan walked out on our club, its history. We don't know where we would be with him and how differently circumstances would be. But is it really that important? All that's important is trying to pull ourselves out of mess he helped create. If anybody knows any different I'd also like an indication of this weekend’s lottery numbers, cheers.
  8. Did I miss the moment when Sunderland became the buisness away from home. Chill out lads, if we lose I might join you in your immensly negative state, but until then...
  9. OK I'm going to bite. Let's say, erm... Three, for now.
  10. must be on drugs to be that optimistic Did you watch it? We should have been level at 1-1 when Duff went through and were growing more and more into the game, then Barton went off and we lost our way. City looked half threatening but didn't work Harper at all until their 2nd and at that stage I thought we looked more likely to score than they did. Aye that view would conflict with cp40's agenda though.
  11. Pah, we don't need your optimism, with our internet streams, high horses and knee jerk reactions. It's hardly a knee-jerk by now tbf. :-[ What the hell, dont start trying to use logic on them Yes sorry your absolutely correct. We 're doomed, our future rests on this second half of football. Your actually being serious. We have played like this for weeks, what makes you think we will suddenly improve? Aye football is just that damn predictable. We'll just play like this forever. It has nothing to do with an injury crisis and fragile confidence.

  14. Got to admire the optimism. Are you still certain we'll stay up, Midds? Certain? No. Pretty sure? Yes. Other teams are on s*** runs too. I thought we'd lose this one tonight. But we're a goal down to City, it's the end of the world. You have to be watch this game to understand how stupidly bad we are. to top it off Man City are not playing well but are so much on top. Aye we're going down. Innit.
  15. Got to admire the optimism. Are you still certain we'll stay up, Midds? Certain? No. Pretty sure? Yes. Other teams are on s*** runs too. I thought we'd lose this one tonight. But we're a goal down to City, it's the end of the world.
  16. He isn't but I wouldn't look too much into that, Kuzmanovic and Montolivo are both very highly rated. Montolivo is f***ing brilliant on his day. Aye, the old cliche of "would he turn up on a rainy day away to Wigan?" applies to him though. Perfect example is of when they faced you lot in the Wafa Cup last year. At the Artemio he (and the rest of their midfield) tore you to shreds. However in the reverse fixture when you had the momentum and the crowd behind you Montolivo along with others just didn't look up for the battle.
  17. I think it's one of those games where any result is realistic. Both sides are pretty damn inconsistent and that makes it difficult to predict a result. The problem is with the confidence of the team being as fragile as it is at this moment if we go behind we'll struggle. If we go behind early we could get battered. We just need a lucky break, something to install a bit of confidence for future fixtures.
  18. I haven't seen them play consistently this season so I'm going off previous seasons, but for me: Lennon - Good technique, good pace, lacks end product. Milner - Good grafter, half decent technique, lacks end product. Pennant - Good technique, half decent end product, lacks consistency. They are all young lads and all have potential to get better if they work on the weaknesses in their game. I'd agree with Kaka to an extent, currently Pennant is probably the most rounded player but his attitude and general inconsistency is probably why he's never made a real impact. Another thing to note is that Pennant looks like he's reached his peak while I feel there could be much more to come from both Lennon and Milner. They are both comfortably capable of exceeding him as a player.

  20. Have you not heard? A low-net spend shows a lack of ambition.
  21. Currently I'm on edge but I think that's due to a lack of sleep rather than the club. Our inconsistancy means you just never know, take tomorrow for example, it's a tough game to call because both teams are capably of beating the other depending on what side of the bed they wake up on. Overall I'm still pretty confident we'll stay up. I think it will be tight due to the nature of the league but I think we'll just do enough. Having said that the current rot has to stop.
  22. maybe he will talk about new transfers then FA: "Are you aware of the rules you have broken?" Joe: "Yes, but the good news is I expect new bodies in over the next couple of days"
