I think we should have a change of thread title to avoid pointless comments like this. Maybe something along the lines of "Things you miss about not being at the pinnacle of English Football". I think we should have a change of thread title to avoid pointless comments like this. Maybe something along the lines of "I'm miserable, so please do not try and enlighten me with the belief that my club is a top one". Feel free to hold onto and voice whatever feelings you like. However, I am content with knowing our place in football at current http://www.otf2.com/forums/images/smilies/sorry.gif

To answer the question: I miss having a squad of top quality players who play quality football.

It seems that regardless of how badly Alan came across through the interview it actually succeed in it's purpose, heh. I hope you two didn't cheat

Out of curiosity and please do not go back to the article and check. Can anybody who read the original article (Small Talk, Guardian Online) remember who Alan Shearer was representing? I.e. what company/organisation/club has he done the interview for?

I will be very concerned about going straight back down if the squad isn't extensively strengthened in the summer. The squads most worrying disparity in regard to the Premiership clubs, but that is definitely not our soul issue, is physical. The players we have will not compete physically with any squad in the Premier League and that would just about see scraping around at the base of the table - ultimately suffering relegation.

"Elbows of pure iron?" is fantastic but the rest of the 'interview' is a waste of paper/internets/time...

Southgate's knowledge and reading of games can at times be hilariously inept

Shame he's not world class... eh

They want it too much and are too impatient to give a good manager time to create a balanced, cohesive team. I think it's... eight? managers in these 6 years. And there will be a ninth soon. Absolutely. Just got to the stage where they're prepared to just throw money at the problem and hope it works out. They'd be much better off going for someone like Mourinho and giving him 5 years minimum. Back him in the market and stick with him and he'd deliver. The President's promising to sign player X or player Y and appointing weak managers who'll just put up with it has cost them. The tail is wagging the dog. No sane 'world class' manager would contemplate taking the Real job. Well, 'should consider' taking the Real job.

What actually is their problem with the Glazers? Poor lambs, only win about 1 trophy on average a season. the whole 700m debt thing, only took them 4 or 5 years to figure out
-
Really enjoying this "They only have the League to win" ONLY the LEAGUE. Like winning the LEAGUE would mean NOTHING...
-
Would be retarded to get rid of him before the end of the season like you say. Too many cooks for Real tonight imo
-
Yes! And a little crown for sensible, balanced posters! That club would have 0 members. I've found 1 of the (several) red candidates...

What a wank thread. Urgh

How will they know?

That's rubbish. More games have been played in the Championship and you could argue that the Premiership is more competitive so there are more draws and less points distributed. I don't think he was being serious. Whoosh! You were successfully trolled http://www.otf2.com/forums/images/smilies/checkit.gif

Biggest issue with the starting XI is the centre of midfield. I know Nolan and Guthrie bossed the Barsley game, but I'd be airing on the need for a bit more caution away from home, i.e. having somebody who is a little more defensively orientated. Or at least getting one of the two to make sure the midfield area is covered at all times.

Very pleased with the win, scoreline and performance. Seemed easy against 10 men, especially with the reserve goalkeeper in. But what is most impressive is the sustained pressure we maintained for the whole of the first half, which lead to the penalty in the end. Need to keep the performance levels for the Boro game and not spazz out like the last time we'd played well the week before a game.

What a rubbish end to the day. Fucks sake etc

I'm sorry but I'm just not happy with 6.
