  1. We didn’t lose because we had a suicidally high line, we lost because we had 9 fucking players . Nearly got a result too.

Don’t know about you guys but I’m quietly looking forward to the England matches for the first time in a while. I think I’d be more interested if we were giving somebody new a game against Wales but I think what Tuchel said about the squad was absolutely perfect: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cj6xg9yle7yo
  3. Bit harsh on the 12-year-old Elanga and 7-year-old Rashford tbh.
  4. It was the first thing I thought at the time tbh. Couldn't believe how chilled Ekitike was about it, and a classic example of if you don't go down you don't get anything. Seemed a very clear foul.

It's another tick in the list of reasons why hiring Tuchel - intense, uncompromising, perfectionist, workaholic, straight-talking - ultimately might be a great call by the FA, but will inevitably be a spiky ride. He'll do his own thing and will probably completely ignore the press, which is ultimately the best thing to do. You just hope that he's successful.
  6. Liverpool game has been cracking. Gala well up for it at home as usual, but Liverpool playing pretty well, just a little vulnerable at the back. Ekitike has been great and I think he could have bought a red card had he gone down when the defender seemed to pull him back a bit, Right up the other end and the Gala forward buys a pen. Szobos-whatever been the last man on multiple occasions, which is concerning.
  7. The biggest problem I have with Everton as a “proper Premiership club” is that they have spawned their way out of relegation on multiple occasions.
  8. Anyone else see that picture of Bowen on the BBC text and do a double take?
  9. The BBC comments are just so fucking stupid sometimes: “I think West Ham fans are still hankering for the days of Trevor Brooking and Alan Devonshire, Frank Lampard and Billy Bonds. They need to be more pragmatic about where they are and what realistic ambitions they should have” So (a) that covers 40 fucking years and (b) for nearly all that time they were either in the bottom half of the First Division or in the Second Division. Sort of like now.
  10. Just got in from walking the dog, checked the BBC Text, “West Ham clear for a corner”, thought “oh that’ll be a goal”. Yup.
  11. No you don’t, you just need time and to keep chipping away. Then to make it count when you get there. A bit of luck helps too.
  12. Oh FFS, are they? Every time I think “oh this is a nice story” it turns out to be rotten at the core.
  13. It was the only reason we could tolerate Chelsea when Abramovich came in. They immediately felt like nothing, and them beating Arsenal to anything was a bonus. I grew up in North London and didn’t know a single Chelsea fan, barely even met a Man City fan. These are the things we take refuge in when everything is enshittified. Let them win everything, as long as those local twats get nothing. Don’t know how your feelings were in New York when the Giants weren’t shit, or when the Mets got all the money. I will say that living close to the Steelers/Browns border was rough as fuck because the Steelers have always been at the very least competent.
  14. Still feel like you’re the perfect team to obliterate us, similar to Bournemouth. Hopefully Solanke will be back by then. Can see TF fielding a much changed team for us tbh, just so many games at the wrong time.
  15. We have gone to another level. We were down with you at 17th. Now we’re above you in the European places. All I can do is respond to your words. You said “the teams we were expected to be rivals with are below us this season.” If you don’t think you were expected to be rivals with us this season - a team that finished 17th, with an entirely new manager and back room team and even a new CEO - then I really do feel sorry for you.
  16. We’re not below you. And we’re very much a work in progress.
  17. Previous manager wanted him the year before he moved from Fulham, couldn’t get the deal done, manager got sacked, they felt they should go through with the deal, new manager didn’t want/need him.
  18. He’s all right. Works really hard, lovely guy, heart on his sleeve etc etc. He’s just one of those Brazilian players who’ve made the most out of the relatively limited talent he has. You’re just never entirely convinced he knows what’s going on or has a plan in his head of what he’s going to do.
  19. Yeah, you know the frustration of getting excited to see a new player then nowt. I’m hoping we get at least a couple of these guys back before the CL really kicks in. Richarlison is made of crisps as it is.
  20. Thomas Frank did it in his first two games - and one of those was Man City away
  21. Also Kolo Muani got a dead leg and has apparently now missed more games with us in three weeks than in his entire career beforehand We were excited about Solanke because he had a really good injury record before us. He’s missed sooooo many games.
  22. The first Hearts goal was terrific.
  23. Just tuning in, why wasn’t he starting?
