  1. Ladies and gentlemen, the luckiest club in the Universe.
  2. Jesus fucking Christ what a miss.
  3. Found it - from “Alex” at 20:10:
  4. Was on the BBC text somewhere. Someone complaining about Chelsea’s policy in general.
  5. Saw the post saying they were just throwing a ton of kids together tonight but checked the line-up and that’s more than £200M in transfers, no?
  6. No VAR tonight, they’re just going to have to not flag when Liverpool are offside then.
  7. We’re saving money at the moment - no Sky.
  8. “He can‘t really go anywhere there Endo”. He went and stood in front of the ball, you stupid fuck. Is there anything more frustrating than commentators being wrong when you can see exactly what actually happened?
  9. Oh you are kidding me Was genuinely looking forward to a game tonight. It’s not the most enticing set of games, but do we really have to be at Anfield again? Fuck this. I’m giving genuine consideration to just finishing Cowboys and Aliens tbh
  10. Christ, I know there are some kids in there but that’s so many players. I guess it makes sense given they were in the Champions League.
  11. Porro played 51 games for us last year
  12. Finally watching the full MOTD. Enjoyed Grealish’s comments afterwards - he’s a likeable guy and it bears repeating a million times how much of a moveable feast the time added on is at Anfield. I think it’s telling that one of my most fervent football wishes is set at Anfield instead of the Arse. Complete my hat-trick, in a 4-0 win, sliding knees up to the Kop giving the full Charlie George V’s all the way.
  13. Just teasing . Your post seemed a tiny bit like special pleading after winning the thing, so I guessed there would be at least one post in the past that kinda did the League Cup down a bit. It’s fun to see all the same conversations here as we have. We spend ages beforehand talking about a squad game and making sure people get rested and others get minutes, then the game comes along and there are always people saying “well we’ve got to take this seriously” and “we should try to win everything” and “you can’t rest VDV” or whoever. We’ve both got a million games, incomplete squads and home games against lower league teams. You’ve got to give some of these guys a rest. I actually thought you made the right call on the weekend - Bournemouth are really good and this is an awkward time of year. With a couple more players maybe it would be different but I think a point there is fine right now. Not fun to watch, but a job done.
  14. It ebbs and flows. We were incredible the year before last, then a bit rubbish last year. The team two years ago could largely still play for our U21s but most of them have been on loan in the lower leagues for a year plus now - for example Donley was the guy who scored that wonder goal for Orient v Man City. Teams tend to have a good year as some players grow, then they move on and you have a much younger U21 team that can struggle for a season or two. Ideally you want your U21s to actually be 17/18, and the older guys to either be in the first team squad or on developmental loans. That’s one reason why results don’t matter so much. I was worried about our U19 CL team until I realized it’s basically our U21 team. Our team is actually even younger, the best players are both 16. There’s just too many variables to be too hung up on results.
  15. I don’t think of Iraola as much of a risk at all tbh. If anything i could see him turning Villa down and looking for other offers. I feel like he’d be perfect for them. As for the PSR/wages stuff - Brummie would know better. The wages have been a gamble and an issue for years - see also Everton - but I don’t know the main issues why their revenue has not been improving enough. Other than the ground, which is the obvious one. You just can’t generate enough revenue without magic money unless you upgrade or completely rebuild the ground. Arsenal did it, we did it, Everton are doing it. Liverpool did to an extent. City lucked into a new stadium and used the magic money to help. Chelsea have done as much as they can for now. West Ham thought they’d found a way round it, but fortunately that seems to have backfired. Villa have been trying to upgrade Villa Park for years. The most substantial recent plans (expanding capacity significantly) were floating around for a while but put on hold a couple of years ago. They’ve just submitted new plans this year - don’t know who’s paying for it or any details. @brummie will know. Until then they will struggle to generate enough money to compete. You would have thought they could do so though with their strong academy, much like we did from mid-2000s to mid-2010s.
  16. Not seen the list, but I saw that and that Kane is 13th.

It’s the same story as usual, they don’t have to be good, they just have to be better than three others. Leeds and Burnley, and then probably Wolves and West Ham. And Villa
  18. Your reminder that - after a goal was disallowed because VDV got pushed into KWP who fell over - VDV got literally rugby-tackled to the ground at a corner and VAR did nothing. They make it up as they go along.
