Isn't Europe 5th this year? Is it going to be extended to 6th? Genuine question.
-
Who's this new guy Man U are bringin on?
-
Why would you want anyone to lose to Man City?? Utterly disgusting team. [/(fucked up the)quote] Oh I absolutely agree, but I'm Spurs, and (a) it's Arsenal (b) I want the team we're most likely to be battling with for fourth to lose. I worry that it will be Arsenal rather than City.
-
I just can't bring myself to want Stoke to win, even though it might help us out. Tomorrow will be even worse - I have no idea who I most want to lose out of City or Arsenal. Who do people think will finish higher?

The managers can rate the refs, as far as I remember. Don't they give them a rating after every match? That's very interesting, and would mean the marks making a lot more sense. Depressing, but more explicable.

Isn't this the one where Chelsea are in second place for "Respect to Referees"? Ha, and furthermore, ha.
-
Yep, sounds about right!

He has an annoying face.

Can see Man U and Arsenal streaking away this year. Relegation looks like an almighty pile-up, although Wolves might be well adrift after the next few games.

I know it's only paper talk but if we flogged Carroll for Bentley, Keane and £8m I'd be frankly furious. Keane value: Zero, maybe £1-2m max. Wants out, not playing and over the hill - this would be his last move. Bentley value: £3-5m. Basically hasn't kicked a ball for a year and wants out too. Redknapp needs to be told to gtf just out of principle, the massive twitchy-faced bellend that he is. It's nonsense, obviously, the main reason you'd be looking to pick up Bentley and Keane would be precisely because you've got Carroll. I wish people would stop talking gibberish about some players' worth though. Players are worth what you're willing to pay, and Keane and Bentley will be decent players for a lower Premiership team. Prices are settling down now, but Kenwyne Jones went for 8-9M, Poulsen for 4.5M, Koscielny and Gyan for over 10M. I'd say Keane 3-5 and Bentley 5-7 sounds reasonable separately. It's wishful thinking to think you'd get both for max 7M.

West Brom, Wigan, Wolves. West Brom have played lovely football, but had almost no luck at all. I think this will continue, as they don't have too many options up front and I suspect Odemwingie will dry up. I think clubs like Brum and West Ham are going to scrap their way out, despite being pretty poor.

Really? Satire is dead.

Disgusting? Whoa there. If you don’t think he's worth getting in at that price then just don't get him in. I'm guessing that Levy is looking to cover the amortization of the player's value, which simply makes sense. You may as well say it was disgusting to ask for 30M for Berbatov, or whatever Milner went to City for. If you have the player under contract then you can ask what you want. Personally, I hate loans between Prem clubs, think they shouldn't be allowed. O'Hara is not a bad player either!
-
That was drivel. Bentley did very well as cover when Lennon was missing last season. He's not got much pace, and always slowed the game down when he got the ball; not always a bad thing, but it was frustrating. If we'd paid "squad player" money then he'd have been fine, as it is he was disappointing. That said, I'd wager that if we didn't have him we'd not have got fourth. I'd also wager that some of those who are laughing at 7M would value Carroll at something astronomical. Bentley's value to us is not massive, as he's simply a large depreciation each year plus big wages. He is, however, homegrown, relatively young and a recent England international. He's pretty good, honestly. Good squad player for us, good first XI player for you if his attitude's right and he stays fit. I think 7-8M is not unreasonable, but if no-one has any money then who knows. Bidding war would be nice.

Why would Villa sell Downing?

Voting still open for Niel vs Hibbert I believe.

sunderland blackpool Cheers. I was trying to work it out from the delicate subtext of Wormy's post.

Which game is he watching?
-
That's all right, livened it up in here a bit. I can barely watch the other thread now we're down to ten.....again.

Going to go top by themselves for the first time. And now they've got another penalty. I go on about this a lot, but there has never been a luckier side in the history of mankind.
-
Soft penalty. I have found myself seriously wondering if City actually have bribed refs this year.

Exactly what I thought, I was there too. With the level of pre-emptive negativity on this forum, I can see you getting something from this. There is no way that Carroll won't score (unless he gets sent off by a comedy ref for an innocuous aerial challenge). That said, if we hit the ground running this could be painful. I think Smith has been put on to seek and destroy VDV. However in reality he will seek and give away lots of freekicks against VDV. He might just get VDV riled up, he's got a bit of a hot temper. Stop feeling sorry for us and making excuses

I was absolutely raging at how flukey they'd been after everything. I feel like I say that after every bloody City match (Fulham excepted). Of course I'm wildly biased, but I genuinely feel that I've never seen a team get more breaks before.
