I've said it before but you basically have to almost treat him like a bonus player at this point. You can't rely on him as a legit member of the squad. We need two CBs really given the fact that Burn/Schar have potentially only got 1 more top season in them. It's why the lack of movement on a CB for me is insane. Even if it's more of a cheaper development profile with a big signing pushed back a year given we need two anyway.

I think we've basically been doing that to be fair. Minteh, Cordero, Salia, Park etc. Just at the moment the second group is at a much lower pricepoint because we need money for the first team.

There's perhaps something true that if he did go it would loosen up the logjam of us needing to penny pinch on every single signing and we'd then be able to act a little bit more loosely on asking prices to get what we need. But realistically if he did go we'd then need to get over the line at the bare minimum 2 new strikers, a RCB and probably a CM/attacking midfielder in a month. It just seems completely unfeasible at the way we work.

I'd probably rather just see him gone if it meant we got two new strikers and other positions strengthened. The issue is the proven inability to do that this summer.

There's been absolutely nothing seeming even remotely likely in terms of a CB signing. No genuine rumours or likely targets even. Our entire focus has seemingly been on getting in a new CF for weeks, which is understandable in the circumstances, but Jesus Christ we have multiple positions we needed to fill this summer and made seemingly no progress on any of them.

Can't see it happening because they'll ask for daft money and him daft wages. I think despite not being sold on him personally he'd probably be great. He's basically similar stage that Isak was at - great hype but off back off hit and miss season. We've clearly liked him for years.

Don't think that's particularly true regardless of how he did in the game against us. Palace had a good second half of the season and won a cup. And he was a key player in that.
