Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Yeah which was a load of bollocks. It almost certainly had absolutely nothing to do with us. -

Where does the attitude thing even come from - because he decided to go to PSG over us? It seems an entirely invented thing amongst our fanbase from innocent and unrelated social media posts. Both Eddie and Ekitike have spoken about the potential move - that we were made a good offer, he considered it it, but ultimately opted elsewhere and there was no hard feelings from either side. -

Olise was uncapped until last year as well and now he's a key player for France and Bayern. I don't think being a forward player and uncapped for France is a particular slight on a player. My only doubt on him would be that Frankfurt have a good record of giving a platform for forwards and inflating their values. However that would be clearly mitigated by the fact we've wanted him since he was 19. If you could get him for similar fee to Isak it is an absolute no brainer imo. His career path is extremely similar to Isak's tbh. -
Wonder if Spurs are gonna get big money for Son from Saudi?
-
Slightly disappointed we haven't gone in for him at that price like.
-
I'm absolutely flabbergasted if there is really a £60 million release clause tbh. Smacks of club trying to save face.
-
At 50 million definitely Guehi, even if his wages are higher. More proven. I rate Scalvini highly but 50 million plus is far too much given his injuries. Scalvini makes sense at a genuine discounted price but for reasons mentioned I think it unlikely that happens.
-
They're getting 68 million euros for Retegui from Saudi, a player they originally bought for 25 million euros simply to cover Scamacca's injury last year. They're under far less pressure to sell cheap because of that.
-
Weird that they would have anything to do with it.
-
I'd say his value is about 20 million so you can price him down 30-40% given last year of deal. But then I'd say to us specifically you have to value it back up again given his value as a club grown slot player. £15 million about right.

Literally none of them have lived up to their hype either really and some have completely fallen off altogether. Would be my only worry with a huge fee. -

It's never happening IMO as bigger clubs would pay whatever fee is out there but would be an insanely good signing. Reckon he could easily play with Isak and would mean we'd have a long term replacement if worst came to worst he went next summer. -
I actually think £15 million is about right personally but if we've scuppered this over a few million it will be a bit annoying.
-
They're doing exactly what I expected them to, basically same as their lower league moneyball model but with more scope to attract players and at a higher price point. All in that 20-23 bracket. I said when they got promoted they'd basically go at a Brighton/Brentford approach and I think there's an outside chance it works for them tbh. Their recruitment has genuinely been very good (for the way they operate) over the last three years.

All five of their new signings (ignoring Le Fee) either currently play for or have declared for AfCON qualified nations
-
Do totally agree with this like. 4 bonafide options for the midfield + Miley would be better than the current 6 we have.
-
Got to say it's absolutely absurd that they've been allowed to drop new players into the squad mid tournament
-
Andrey Santos seems to have had a very good season just gone - sounds like he either comes into the team or is sold for a big profit.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (playing for Leeds United)
ponsaelius replied to Strawberry's topic in Football
If it allows us to go big on 3-4 other positions I can deal with it. Would prefer a versatile player who can play upfront but if there's no options they fancy then the next best solution is a dedicated experienced back up who knows their role. -
I honestly think something soured between Howe and him last season tbh. He barely played a minute second half of the season and Howe's comments about his future were about as damning as he ever comes out with.
-
Financially it makes obvious sense to sell him now. The kind of deals we need to do and be ruthless with. It probably means we make a midfield signing.
-
Love the lad personally but definitely time to move on I think.

'Notts Forest' in the title
-
We need 4 or 5. Any more and you risk unsettling things too much IMO - even acknowledging we've done nowt for 2 years. Less than 4 quality signings would be poor show.

Surely you realise most bald players are bald in the way Zidane was/is but just shave it all off?
