We aren’t going to agree here, so I’ll agree to disagree but you clearly are omitting context that didn’t really need to be stated for the purpose of an argument for arguments sake.

They fluked a trophy. In 5 years time do you see Crystal Palace as a major contender for trophies or Europe? Do you think Crystal Palace’s owners when they leave will have them in a position where they are considerably higher in the league. In my opinion, they are waiting out for the direct to consumer TV model to come around which will massively inflate TV revenue and clubs revenue and valuation, before selling up. Lastly, much of the running of their club has been done by Steve Parish.

Similar. We have won a cup, something I honestly never thought we would do. I’m a lot more relaxed now, I know that we are overall on an upward trajectory, even if we have bumps along the road, and the pressure of doing something is off somewhat. In saying this, I would love the anticipation back if we got into a serious title challenge, or competed for the Champions League, or got to an FA Cup final.
-
Then promptly sold some of their best players, and are going into this summer losing their manager because he’s anticipating them selling the remaining good players.
-
Yeah, surely the level we compete at is implied. It’s like saying our team is shit, but coming back and saying their’s 72 worse teams in the league system alone.
-
Am I? I don’t think one club at our level has been improved by yank owners. Throwing Wrexham into is moving the goalposts as a non-league club and a Premier League team we’re not comparable.
-
There is a difference between taking a non-league club up the leagues, and making them competitive at the highest levels. Any multi-millionaire or billionaire could have done that if they wished. Chelsea are worse off since their takeover, Man Utd are, Arsenal haven’t won a title under their owners. People cite Liverpool, but look at the platform they had. No American has taken a club to compete at the top of English football, the vast majority have been to stabilise them in the league, or they have started off with a great platform like Liverpool. Basically they wouldn’t improve us, if people are having a go at not getting a new training ground and stadium now, you can kiss goodbye to it happening with Americans coming in. Staveley has been in the news recently about buying a club, shifting her attention to either West Ham or possibly us. I’d be all for her coming back, once the Saudi’s have given us the new training ground and stadium though.
-
Come back when they are competing at the top level. Also, one of them is a Canadian.
-
No. The yanks don’t make clubs better or competitive.
-
It was a little while back. I think it was after the Everton-Liverpool affair where another country swapped a Champions League spot with a UEFA Cup place with the English FA. UEFA now dictate which positions get a Champions League place. Europa League and Conference League slots are bit more up to the individual FA’s to determine, hence why the Netherlands have play offs for these positions.
-
It’s Talksport, so it’s bull.
-
Spurs have played in their stadium for about 3-4 years without any significant increase in injuries.
-
It’s an accepted fact that both the training ground and a stadium solution are being worked on with the training ground announcement due very soon. All of the Newcastle reporters who love to contradict the others agree on these.

Scottish football needs Hearts to win the title. Even countries that have big 2/3 teams have had more recent winners outside of those clubs than Scotland has.

We’ll probably not find out anything this week, I think the meeting is on Thursday. We have the bank holiday weekend after that, so you are probably looking at a week on Tuesday at the earliest.

Hibs are essential Celtic’s B team, and they regularly roll over for Celtic.
-
I agree, but we probably need to have a period where more clubs build new stadiums or renovate and expand their existing stadiums. Sending clubs to say Villa Park, Anfield etc with them getting 20k tickets at most is no good. I’ve said it before, but building Wembley was a mistake. England, and cup finals should have been shared around with money given to clubs to help renovate their stadiums. It was an even bigger mistake not to sell it to the Jacksonville Jags owner and to sack playing football off there altogether.
-
This. We got £200k for winning the League Cup. The FA Cup winners for example get less than the difference between league placings in the Premier League. For Champions League participants, it’s just over 1 Champions League match win.
-
Hibs now have 2 of their key players unavailable for their fixture against their parent club.
-
Hibs down to 9 men now.

1: You can’t do it, UEFA decides who qualifies for the Champions League, and they have rules that Champions League places are not for reward in cup competitions, or play offs. The Dutch had to change their play offs a few years ago to reflect this. 2: It won’t really help them. The difference between top level clubs and the lower and non-league clubs is massive now. You have teams like Chelsea who are able to have 3 squads worth of players on their book, all of quality most teams wouldn’t have 1 player of similar quality. Draws are a rare occurrence when the difference is so big. I’d also argue that most league clubs shouldn’t be relying on income from cups to get by. 3: There is an arguement to be had over VAR, however in my opinion the negatives of it won’t be addressed until we move away from referees and former referees being the ones to make the decisions. This also raises further discussions over the quality of our officials.

Hibs down to 10 men.

Come on Wolves, restore parity.

West Ham winning?
