I honestly hope that the regeneration talk is in relation to Stanhope Street, and Barrack Road flats. Apoolgies for anyone who lives there, but they are a blight on the road and if we are building a new stadium facing them, we need something a bit better on the other side of the road. I’d also like to go as far as saying that if we are building in Leazes Park or Castle Leazes, then I’d prefer the new stadium to have a brick or stone facade over one with more modern materials. As much as I like Spurs’ stadium, having that in the middle of a Victorian park would look out of place. When the Birmingham stadium was announced a couple of months ago, someone on here posted an image of a stadium with a brick facade and arched glazed windows which looks much better, and honestly I’d rather have that in Leazes Park/Castle Leazes than anything else.

We knew right from the initial fans consultation that they were not considering that badge in anyway, they even said it was a very early stage and very crude drawing by a non-graphics professional.

The only way Sheffield Wednesday becomes profitable is being in the Premier League. As they have been playing at a reduced capacity for about 4 years, been close to not getting safety certificates to keep the stadium open, and lack basic Premier League requirements including on floodlights, it would pretty much be a rebuild job required.

Unfortunately fit and proper largely only relates to not financially sending a club into oblivion.

Hillsborough is running at a reduced capacity because of safety concerns an has been since our FA Cup against them. The stadium is fucked, it’s not had any money spent on it since the early 90’s, and there is no real land around it to build new facilities at modern standards and maintain its capacity. Realistically they are looking at a new stadium at some point in the future, certainly if they want to establish themselves in the Premier League or even the Championship. Their training ground is said to be in a worse condition as well. If you are wanting to bring Sheffield Wednesday back, and even be self sufficient in doing so, it’s going to take a massive amount of money to get them to do so. It would be typical of Ashley to manage to do this to be honest. Throw money at a new stadium, new training ground (all via a loan that the club has to pay back) buy the access to the money ball stats and bring in all the players for next to nothing and get them up before flogging them for a profit.

Sheffield Wednesday preferred bidders have pulled out. Looks like he’s going to gain them for next to nothing.

Run of the mill stuff. They are pretty much safe now, they’ll just be borrowing ahead of next years money coming through in order to buy players in January. Every club does it, even us.
