Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)
LucaAltieri replied to a topic in Football
I think a lot of you are overestimating Cabaye's value. 20m seems reasonable to me. If I were the buying club I don't think I could have justified much more than that. And the comparisons with Mata... -

Having another defensively minded player in midfield can give more scope to Ben Arfa (and others) going forward. Means they can pay less attention to their defensive duties. -
2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil™ - Europe vs. America

Could mean a call up for former Sounder, Fredy Montero. Has been banging them in for Sporting Lisbon. -
With a guaranteed $35,125/year, I'm surprised there aren't more people trying their luck at the MLS combine.
-
Not just the T&T league, but the MLS combine too. Take a look at his highlight reel: http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2014/01/15/mls-superdraft-stefano-rjissel-forward-suriname#ooid=hkZHMwazos-Eol4W5Kh8OK5Gp_tDvqGy I'd sign him on that basis.
-
What? The Sounders just snapped up Surinamese ace, Stefano Rijssel, as the 55th overall pick, a week after the first two rounds of this pointless draft. How could you not be aware of drama like that?

Brace yourselves. It's rounds 3 and 4 of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft™

Great! Someone must be reading my posts over at bigsoccer.com. Now for MLS to get ahead of the new media curve and adopt it.
-
Oddly the Union have done the best so far. Two players who are capable of first team minutes right away.
-
The draft is proving to be as riveting as ever.

Stoke mugged.

Beautiful man. Always liked him. Scored some crackers.

Tevez who didn't score for 6 months? Instant. Wasn't that more down to Pardew's brilliant man-management? Every thread man

I remember at the time it felt like Allardyce needed more time to get things to click. Wasn't sad to see him go as such as I wasn't happy about him signing in the first place, I remember feeling like he hadn't been given much of a chance. That said, I always favour giving managers that little bit more time. In retrospect his legacy is mediocre, at best. His record since being sacked has vindicated Ashley & co, if we're being honest.

Not sure about that, if they won a cup they'd have bragging rights for a fair few years, probably for the rest of my life actually. I'd take winning the League cup and getting relegated. Really? In my mind winning the League Cup is on par with coming top of the Championship.

Week 2: Who was/is better? Les Ferdinand or Andy Cole
LucaAltieri replied to Froggy's topic in Football
Distinctly remember one Man United fan turning up to our Halloween party as Andy Cole, complete with black face. -
Week 2: Who was/is better? Les Ferdinand or Andy Cole
LucaAltieri replied to Froggy's topic in Football
I prefer Sir Les because: 1) He's a gent. 2) Cole's transfer to Man United scarred me, my tiny child brain couldn't understand why the best players would want to play for someone other than Newcastle. Why would they make me love them then turn their backs on me? It's just not fair, damnit. Add to that the glory supporting wankers at school turning up in their Cole Man United shirts. Cunts. But objectively, Cole was the better player. Just. -
I found a youtube video with the title "Rory Delap - A Heartfelt Tribute To The Beautiful Game" and it doesn't appear to be in any way ironic.

Apart from the goal, you mean?

It obviously gets better if you repeat it 45 times.

When you're a kid and you do your own commentary as you're playing... Shearer!!!

Free-kick going in off the post

Thought he'd died years ago. It's easier second time around. Milking it, tbh.
