How is Duff still starting in the Premier League?
-
We need to start a sweepstake... how much will Kenny spend before he's finally sacked? Everyone sticks in a fiver, winner takes all.

Correction: likes a lot of fluid in his system. Mostly Tennent's.

Arsenal vs Newcastle United - 12/03/12 @ 8pm (live on Sky) - pre-match thread
LucaAltieri replied to Dave's topic in Football
Williamson has had some excellent spells and is now having a shitty one. We should be working on sorting him out, getting him back to the top of his game, rather than throwing money at the problem. -

Were you even watching the same game? Santon did bugger all. The two wide players on each side, HBA/Simpson and Taylor/Jonas, all linked up really well and were the source of just about every one of our chances from there on. The subs were perfect. -

Pardew set us off on the wrong foot. Picked a conservative team and had us playing a tight game and it bit us on the arse. Second half, the shackles came off, he got the subs right, and we were a completely different prospect. Even before the sending off we were still battering them. Disappointed not to have picked up 3 points on the back of the second half performance alone. -

Unleash the Perch.

Alright Arteta, just get up. Play on. You've made your point, now get up.

Wenger has lost his way at Arsenal but is still a quality manager. Would love to see him move into the England job.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/luis-suarez-i-m-sorry Only a few months late ...and all it took was the condemnation of the entire football world and media. Such a big fella.

I fancy Wenger, personally. - Knows the English game - Track record in developing young talent - No stranger to a trophy - Definitely in need of a new challenge Also can't see Arsenal holding the FA to ransom when it comes to buying out his contract. Would be a good move for all involved.

Suprisingly Arsenal's strikeforce looks the weakest out of that list tbh. agreed.. let's just hope Oba stays we're he is Good lord. Fortunately for kingdawson he'll have the 3rd best "Arsenal" striker listed there leading the way for Spurs against us.
-
I distinctly remember a similar thread about us having an unrivalled strike force going into our relegation season. Martins, Owen, Viduka.... who could compete with that?! Hindsight. Edit - This is the one I'm thinking of: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,42337.0.html Kingdawson

Make a good point, having said that i just worry about the midfield battle...... what ever way you want to slice it; Guthrie and Perch are most likely going to get dominated by Parker and Modric...... Quite frankly that worries me, if Tiote and Cabaye was available i would actually be confident of winning. I refuse to take that as a given. Parker and Guthrie are on par. While Modric is obviously better than Perch, Modric seldom causes us any problems and Perch is essentially a defender. He may well neutralise any threat Modric does pose. Even if not, it probably won't make much difference. Both sides rely heavily on their wing play. That's where the real battle will be.

Jesus Christ, anyone would think we're playing Barcelona. I doubt there are many teams in the league that would look at playing us as an easy game. It will be close, we'll be up for it, and will probably be playing very tight at the back. We're extremely good on the counter with plenty of pace and good at creating chances. Could easily go either way but we won't get a thumping. I still fancies us to win it 1-2.

He's got Howay 5-0 on forty-eight 5 1/4 inch disks.

Cisse, Barton, Taarabt... I bet the QPR changing room is a right laugh.
-
Even with the lack of cover, I'm glad we stuck to our guns on this. Not even sure why we were in for him. A short centre back would be brutally gang raped on a weekly basis in the premier league.

Is racist abuse still an issue in North East football?
LucaAltieri replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
The psychology of racism is pretty straight forward. It tends to occur amongst a certain socio-economic class. Basically, the people who have fuck all to be proud of look for ways in which they can consider themselves to be better than someone else. This is why you get thick-as-pig-shit chavs spouting off about darkies and gays. Gives them someone to look down on, even if it's for bullshit reasons. It allows them to not feel like the bottom rung of the ladder. So with the economic downturn, we're probably going to see more of that mindset. Basically, it's the fault of the Tories.
