    John Carver

The thing is, fellow managers who say "It's a tough job", "He's done well under the circumstances", "John's a good guy and they love their locals up there. He'll do a fantastic job" etc etc are hardly going to come out and say "John Carver as a permanent manager? PAH! He's useless. I saw his matchday notepad once, it was just a badly drawn picture of a meat and potato pie. Did you see his record at Toronto FC? Shocking. He'll never make it" It's all bullshit propaganda. How many managers have said anything other than positive things about fellow managers who are under fire? I can't think of any.

    Found the pie shop though.
  6. Always great to see pundits and broadcasters take the fans' side against Ashley but it has to be someone who has a modicum of dignity. Paul Merson is a cretin. The horrendous attempts to get cheap laughs with his inability to prounounce even the simplest of foreign players names gets more cringeworthy every time he does it, the fucking toothless drunk.

Every time I see Carver, I always think his face needs some really good quality moisturiser. For all his tactical flaws, you never got that with Pardew.
  8. We're in a scenario where Steve McClaren is by far and away the better option ffs. Like being asked to either vote for Farage or Hitler. Someone said yesterday that the Carver rumours were probably leaked by the club themselves so that fans won't set their sights too high. Now when Charnley unveils glamorous Steve McClaren as the new manager and not as feared Carver, everyone will be over the moon rather than underwhelmed. I highly doubt that anyone will be over the moon like. Read three posts up. If he arrives I can guarantee you there'll be plenty more like that to come. If you're referring to my post, and I think you might be, I clearly wouldn't be 'over the moon' The "over the moon" comment was meant as fan reaction in contrast to giving Carver the job. Tbf, if I thought Carver was in serious danger of getting the job, I'd be over the moon to get McClaren instead, and I don't even like him. But compared to Pie and Chips Carver it would be like getting Jurgen Klopp.

  10. The same guy that's pissing the Championship with his scintillating brand of football. 1 Point ahead of Mick McCarthy's Ipswich. I just don't see any reason to be positive. At least an 'unknown' would get the benefit of the doubt and there'd be some interest in how he'd set the team up. The scintilating brand of football that we've NOT played for, what, 12 years? What are you hoping for in the summer? Ashley to decide he does really give a shit after all and throw a load of money at Klopp? Or for a buyer to magically appear and make us all a lot happier? In terms of being realistic, I'm happy with McClaren. If our circumstances change and we get a new owner, then I won't be.

Or play Ayoze off him to give Riviere a foil and Ayoze a fucking chance to get in behind for a flick on.
  12. I get that we shouldn't have to 'settle' for a second rate manager/head coach but it really is starting to piss me off that people are turning their noses up at McClaren. Not to mention all the fucking numpties on the FB page still referring to him as 'The Wally with a Brolly'. The title win at Twente was an incredible achievement, sold their best player in the summer (Eljero Elia) for 9m Euros and signed Ruiz, De Jong for 6m Euros. Of course it's not the best league in the world but regardless of the quality of the league, they weren't considered title contenders. They were unbeaten at home too. Second place Ajax had the likes of Suarez, Van der Wiel, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Eriksen...it was an incredible achievement. Granted, it was 5 years ago but it still happened - compare that to who is in charge now. No contest. How many of the McClaren haters think we're going to go out and appoint a progressive, foreign coach with a philosophy for attacking football? What are the genuine alternatives given Ashley's track record? Yes, our expectations have been lowered and no I wouldn't be delighted with McClaren but I'd be happy with him - I'd take much more of an interest in us than I do currently and compared to how I'd feel if Carver was appointed. I can't even bare the thought of that.
  13. Why not Elliott? Krul on only £28k a week? According to the reports in the papers today, we have the 7th highest wage bill. So who is earning all this money? http://talksport.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/tscouk_old_image/ashley_35mill.jpg?itok=8K43vNOp

Why? He's completely useless. As opposed to Gouffran and Obertan who are world beaters?

  16. Perhaps he hasn't shown them whilst being the defensive winger Pardew turned him into but they were very evident at Bordeaux...
  17. Why on earth would you even consider it? Genuine question. Consider what? Attending the match or joining in the protests? As I'm considering both... Attending the match. Protests I can understand. Ok. Genuine answer to your genuine question... My brother barely has any spare cash, recently became a Dad and manages his own small business with a very modest budget and salary. He's spent the best part of £70 getting us tickets to go together (something we've not done regularly for years) and I don't fancy throwing them back in his face and appearing to be ungrateful when he's spent what is a small fortune for him on these tickets. Footballing morals in me say I shouldn't go, but the caring and appreciative sibling in me says I should. i can see exactly where you're coming from and it does come across as unappreciative, however, why don't you explain your feelings to him, suggest getting a refund on the tickets and use the cash to do something else you will both enjoy and appreciate? HOME MATCH TICKET TERMS & CONDITIONS OF USE 4 Changes to Dates, Refunds & Exchanges 4.1 No guarantees can be given by the Club that the Match will take place at a particular time or on a particular date. Subject to clause 4.2, below, the Club reserves the right to reschedule any Match without notice and without any liability whatsoever. 4.2 In the event of the postponement or abandonment of the Match (or if the Match has, for any reason to be played out of view of the public), subsequent detail will be posted on www.nufc.co.uk . The Club will have no further liability whatsoever, including (but not limited to) any indirect or consequential loss or damage, loss of enjoyment or travel/accommodation costs. 4.3 In order to obtain a refund, the Home Match Ticket must be returned to the Club’s ticket office no later than 72 hours before the commencement of the match. A refund will only be issued on production of identification that the individual requesting the refund is the person to whom the Home Match Ticket was originally sold. For the avoidance of doubt, the final decision belongs to the ticket office manager. Appreciate that mate, cheers!
  18. The only genuinely good moments he's had tbh were his through ball to Remy when we won 1-0 away at Spurs, and a good turn and shoot goal against Leeds (iirc?). That open goal last minute miss against WH sums him up. My point being his selection in wide midfield areas as opposed to his best position has contributed massively to us not having the player Carr presumably recommended who was scoring goals for Bordeaux.

  20. If there's any defence whatsoever for Gouffran, since day one he's been played completely out of position, he's a second striker and was a half decent one in France. Becasue the lad puts a shift in, Pardew tried to turn him into a defensive winger. He can run up and down a wing a little, but can't cross, beat a man or defend. It's blatantly obvious that he's not suited to the position we're playing him in to everyone other than the fucking cretins playing him there. Shot of confidence, playing in a piss poor team - he had the makings of a decent signing and a 3rd choice striker. Stick his name into YouTube, he used to have good movement and could finish chances playing with confidence. Embarrassing how we've turned him from decent to completely shite in 2 years.

  22. It'll be the worst birthday present you could possibly have. Aye, I already know that
  23. Regards to boycotting the Swansea game, I'm completely torn about it. I live in Hull and have a young family with a fairly well paid job but I rarely get to go up and see us, certainly haven't been arsed about doing so this season anyway, but it's my birthday this week and my brother got us a couple of tickets for the Swansea game. It'll be my first of the season. What was the atmosphere like outside the ground yesterday for those who went? And I'm talking about those who didn't enter the stadium...
