But wasn't a talentless try-hard as Pardew would have preferred.

Classic case of a troubled talent? Similar to Ben Arfa, not managed in the right way and he's a liability. Shouldn't have commented, it's only made me consider how good Ben Arfa would have been under Sir Bobby...

Nothing I don't think. Managing Saudi Arabia last I heard?

Barca goal aside, he didn't really contribute an awful lot in the CL campaign, did he?

Aye, the excitement of him signing, photos in the airport etc, was just an unbelievable time. Knowing what a wonderful player he was on his day and to think he could play for us, it was just so incredibly exciting. Then that goal against Everton, wow. The injury was heartbreaking but he seemed to come back from that strongly, his goals against Blackburn and Bolton will live seriously long in the memory but the one at West Brom, that lightning quick counter, was just exhilirating to watch. What a player. I don't doubt that he was trouble, but if he was managed correctly he could have been so much more for us, we gave him the love he craved at OM and Lyon, it seemed like a perfect match. Heartbreaking seeing what's happened to him, the day he went to Hull was an embarrassment for the club. Like I said, I know he's had issues and perhaps we'll never know the full extent of them, but it seemed all he needed was to feel loved and wanted, I think the club let him down in that sense, Pardew in particular. Attitude aside, deep down all football fans love players like Hatem and it's gutting to know he'll never play for us again.

The forum arguments over the merits of doing so and the slow but eventually unified opinion that he's inexcusable. Honestly, when I think back to the few months grace I gave him in 2012 before there was no way to excuse it anymore. I kind of feel like I'm in therapy for it, I should want this thread to die and to forget about him, but I hate him so much, I'm so bitter over it and I desperately want him to fail and for his entire life to fall apart. Is that bad? Bad? It's fair! I feel exactly the same. The bloke seems to have pulled the wool over EVERYBODY'S eyes other than the fans who've watched his shite week in, week out. There have been times when I've questioned my own sanity because of this tosser. same, its been a horrific experience feel like im suffering PTSD. Yep. Even the way he left was shit. The prolonged wait for official confirmation was just like watching us in the derby games - painful, drawn out and, however inevitable, just plain gruesome. And even now I can't feel at ease knowing we're still stuck with Carver...

Lance Armstrong? True. In terms of legitimately being absolutely up there to just 'what the fuck?' Ronaldinho, I guess. Also Gary Glitter was a pretty rough one.

Can't wait for that moment, whenever it might be, when he drops Bolasie for Glenn Murray on the right and their fans begin to realise he's completely and utter tactictard.
-
And so it begins. I mean, continues. Good lord If this was happening at another club it'd be hilarious.
-
The Chronicle seem to be running different stories every day about what's happening! They're just as clueless as us
-
I'm probably wrong but IIRC that moment was against palace, ironic if so and he does join. Bolton wasn't it?

Be delighted with Remi Garde, can't help but be massively pessimistic though.

Do find it strange seeing who the bookies consider favourites. They've changed so much over the last week and nobody can second guess Ashley, surely?

https://vimeo.com/115797253 Absolutely love this lad

It's becoming glaringly obvious why he was only a sub at Twente. He's an absolute liability. And fucking shame on those idiots shouting SHOOOT when he's in possession 30 yards out. Fucking morons.

Hysteria and expectation...

Odds on Mike Ashley emulating Chris Feather in that episode of Partridge, where he dies before signing the paperwork...

Not when Lawrie Sanchez takes us down

Paddy Powers tweet: Ashley: 'Alan, do you want a massive Sports Direct bag to put your stuff in?' Pardew: 'Thanks Mike, very kind' Ashley: 'That'll be £1'
