Aye, but like Ian W said above; there are probably very few other managers around that would work with Ashley under these conditions. You could question Pardew's pride and morale, but as things stand, this way of running our club seems as if it's working to a suprisingly great extent. I'm happy with it for now. I just hope it doesn't turn ugly when Ashley decides it's time to cash in for sure. We've gone three windows without selling any player who hasn't expressed a will to leave. Should be about time within the next year. They're my thoughts too. Seems ok for now with a strong looking XI but when we're competing on 4 fronts with a thin squad we're asking for trouble really. We could easily have an up and down season, finish about 7th/8th and our better players may want to move on. I'm sure they're as frustrated as Pards' and us with the lack of new faces.

I'm not usually a pessimist but I can't see us going in for anyone today. We've been pretty quiet all summer and don't pay inflated fees so surely that suggests we won't be bringing anyone in on deadline day? Just hope that we keep the small squad we have together.

Surely not? I agree that Debuchy would be one hell of an upgrade on Simpson but to suggest that you'd be willing to murder somebody to secure his signature is surely a step too far. Fuck QPR man. Mark Hughes is like me on Footy Manager getting way carried away when I get a decent transfer budget and pay no mind to which areas of the team need work and end up with a grossly imbalanced squad. Hope they go down.

If we talk about selling 'for the right price' and considering we sold Andy Carroll for £35m, letting Cabaye go for anything less than £18-20m would be extremely unlikely imo.

I don't agree with this. Granted, he said some things that didn't reflect well on the club or the board but this was during a time we had consolidated well during our first season back in the top flight and some big personalities left. How on earth could he have seen where the club was heading at that point? Nobody could ever have imagined the season we had last year. Nobody. I'd take Enrique back in a second.

Good post It's easy to look good in preseason if you are trying a little harder to impress than the players who've been here a little longer. Pre season form means absolutely nothing. The two lads are clearly talented though but I'm not goona get all giddy about them until I see them preform in a NUFC when it counts. Their arrivals should not excuse the lack of activity on the first team level, which is now getting quite alarming. I didn't say their arrivals 'excused the lack of activity on the first team level' but who's to say they aren't first team material? I merely pointed out that their arrivals had softened the blow of the disappointment of no 'obvious' first team players.

Fuck sake. He's so handsome it's almost unfair.
