    Erik Pieters

Can the board win with some of you? If Enrique left and Ferguson or Kadar were expected to step up there'd be an uproar, but we're seemingly seeking a replacement before Jose inevitably does leave and that still isn't good enough for some of you. He's a Dutch international, a regular for a very good European team but because one or two forum members and a few from other message boards don't think he's the next Paolo Maldini then we're either buying him as a back up or we shouldn't be buying him at all. It was the same with the Obertan deal. So many critics. He's young, talented, settled in the North of England, perhaps has a point to prove to some, is pacy, skillful and cheap, yet there were still a large section of you who weren't pleased. Who on earth were you expecting us to try and sign? Wake up! Is there any fucking wonder some sections of the press paint us to be this set of deluded, over-expectant morons? Don't get me wrong, if Jose wanted to sign a new deal then I'd take him as our LB over Pieters any day but he isn't going to and will be leaving. If the replacement is a young lad, deemed good enough for the Dutch national team then he should be good enough for us, especially given the alternatives of Bridge and fucking Shorey. Jesus fucking christ.

I can't help but see the follwing scenario unfolding if Shola signs a new deal: Shola: "Hi boss, you wanted to see me?" Pards: "I think you'd made a great coach when you eventually decide to hang up your boots" Shola: "I could make myself available now if you like?" Pards: "If you'd like to kick things off now, that would be great"

    The England Thread

Good. Fucking pointless and stupidly timed anyway. Now, let's get these fucking moronic rioters dealt with
  4. Agree Skirge but I can't see a Holland international playing first team football for both club and country happy to come and be a backup at a mid-table club in England. Would prefer M'Bengue but very pleased with the Pieters link as Jose's replacement.

Despite the fact he's incomprehensively shite I just cannot imagine him playing for another team. However, that doesn't mean we should give him a new contract, it just means he should retire and concentrate on his hat collection.
  6. For those of you who are viewing from mobile devices like I so often do: Digging up an old link (M'Bengue) do we think?
  7. Less than £1m, improving drastically. Don't see how he hasn't been a good signing to be honest.

    Alan Pardew

    Cracking bit of positivity.
  9. Where's he giving this statement? I'll give you one guess...
  10. Too many. Though I do believe (rightly or wrongly) that we will add another 1 or 2 before the window shuts, just not necessarily before the season starts. There are bound to be players who are destined to leave but whilst the window is still in its relatviely early stages, their clubs will be holding out for that bit extra. The closer the end of the window comes, the cheaper these players will potentially become. Take N'Zogbia for instance. I'd say there's a 95% chance he'll leave in this window. Last year of his contract, both Martinez and Whelan know he won't sign a new contract and if he's still there come August 31st his price will drop by a couple of mil, and further still if he still happens to be there in January. If his price now is £10-12m we won't touch him, and other clubs will more than likely to be reluctant to also, come 31st August what will his price be then? £7-8m perhaps? I'd be very surprised if we aren't monitoring players who's contracts are expiring shortly with a view to making a move late in the window for 'knock down' prices, N'Zogbia included.

    Other clubs' transfers

£15m? Fucking hell. Totally with wormy here, what the hell is going on in this window?
  12. That's because Umbro make them. Umbro really are top dog in the kit making stakes. Haven't seen a bad one from them in years.
  13. That would only serve to bring the price down.
  14. Nice to see Guthrie gets a place in the team AND on the bench
  15. Fucking hell. With the exception of perhaps 2-3 clubs in this division, or anywhere else for that matter, everyone is 2 or 3 injuries away from not being able to achieve their start of season expectations. If a top 4 team lost 2 or 3 key players they'd struggle to maintain a title challenge, if a team expecting to achieve a Europa League place lost 2 or 3 key players they'd struggle to achieve a top 7 place. If we're aiming for top 10 and we get 2 or 3 injuries to our key players (for arguments sake Tiote/Ben Arfa/Colo) then maybe we'd struggle to achieve top 10 and be involved in a bit of a scrap. It's nothing to do with lack of incoming transfers (despite the fact there's still 6 weeks or so of the window left), it's football.
