  1. This isn't really new, but I noticed NBC News did their own reporting on this, which is pretty rare for a major US news outlet talking about Newcastle. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/rights-record-questioned-saudi-takeover-epl-s-newcastle-united-edges-n1185976 First time I've seen an official spokesperson say anything, it's always just been "sources." Not that it means much, but encouraging they're willing to put some sort of official comment out there.
  2. I'm almost certain their reaction and all of #nufc's reaction is based on one bullet point in that Daily Mail article. So stiupid
  3. Just wrestling, I think. Either way, sports with fans here will have to start again based on the league and not Trump or the individual states, even if some states are doing better than others. I don't see any of the major leagues here will allow fans until a vaccine is available/the CDC says it's safe
  4. Sorry, thought that was a widely used thing, might just be because I'm American. Pup ops is just the uploading and publishing of articles. Usually someone doing it would be in charge of writing subheaders like that
  5. What does this mean? Martin Samuel's article only metiomed a deal not being agreed in a bullet point under the header, which would've been written by someone uploading the article, basically not Samuel. They've deleted it now because it's not true
  6. The DM deleted that bullet point about a deal not being agreed. Someone in pub-ops fucked up
  7. If any outlet or reporter had news that a deal wasn't agreed, they'd write an actual article about it and not just what is essentially a section in an opinion piece
  8. Wouldn't be overly concerned yet. It's one person, and Samuel of all people, against dozens saying the opposite. He says there's only one source, but most outlets have mentioned multiple sources close to the deal. We've been here before, so it could obviously be true, but we'll see
  9. No doubt he was going to finish the season, he'll be gone after that
  10. Moving from the city center would be diabolical. I'm sure growing up there or attending a lot of matches you might take it for granted, but part of the club's charm is SJP's location. Thinking about the prematch before the Liverpool match last year, the streets and pubs were absolutely rammed with people. LFEE, I and a few others grabbed dinner after going to a pub, then took a 5-10 minute walk to the match. That doesn't happen in a lot of places. It's fucking magical.
  11. The full article from The Athletic is incredible. https://theathletic.com/1745144/2020/04/15/mike-ashley-newcastle-united-takeover/ It's the Mike Ashley deep dive we've deserved for years
  12. I'd imagine the Reubens main purpose is for land development/real estate.
  13. We're supposedly a week into the test. Four weeks appears to me like it's more of a precaution with everything going on. So, conceivably, this could done next week.
  14. Whew. That article got me really excited. We're so close.
  15. Pretty surreal we're even at this point. Just opened up facebook and saw my first game at SJP was two years ago What a day that was, it's nice to finally look forward to more, hopefully. Might be much harder to find a ticket now, though. As for the Saudi stuff, I think if you choose to continue to follow the club there's no real way to justify it. I'm going to continue in the short-term for sure, mostly because I've been starved of any sporting success for years. Seeing NUFC realize its potential is going to be a fun ride, assuming it happens. No matter what though, they're a torturous regime and I wish it didn't have to be this way for us to get better, but it looks like it does.
  16. Yeah, I don't see anyway this doesn't get approved by the Premier League. They're not going to turn down the money getting involved and potentially having another club competing at the top of the table and in Europe. Assuming the test did actually start a week ago, I think the only way this doesn't happen is Ashley pulls out
  17. I thought the month was because of what's going on right now. Usually it's two weeks e: what 54 said
  18. Confirmed they're laying people off. This is too much to feel at one time
  19. Just got told by work we're having a spur of the moment meeting that likely indicates layoffs. Quite a comedown from reading this thread
  20. I wondered the same thing too when Ashley's son-in-law was initially mentioned earlier in the thread. Seems too good to be true, but why else would someone whose only connection to NUFC is purchasing land from the club be involved in a Companies House update involving a potential buyer? Don't feel comfortable screenshotting or copying his tweet if he's private for a reason, but he's essentially questioning why Michael Murray is mentioned with the 13m on Companies House. Murray is the one who bought the Strawberry Place land
  21. Assuming PIF are involved and we have money to spend, I can't see Bruce remaining as manager for any period of time. Maybe they'll be diplomatic and move him into an advisory role or something like that, but we'll have some one better in to start next season. Can't believe it's come to the point where I can even say something like that, tho
