Other than the conveyer belt of Sporting Directors, which admittedly isn't great, we seem to have made a bunch of progressive appointments over the past few years, which has increased our revenue 30% year on year, turned our existing training facility into something that is actually half decent, completely turned around the fortunes of the Womens side and revamped the youth department, and essentially turned us into a club that are actually ambitious, with a new stadium and training ground in the pipeline. Just because we appear bad at transfers, doesn't means its a "complete mess" behind the scenes.

If the window were to end now, yes it'd be bad, but don't see why this window is being so catastrophized when there is still so long until it closes and we're still actively looking to improve and make deals. There where press reports we had an interest in Mbuemo and Kudus but we never submitted any offers. This makes perfect sense like, we went for our primary targets, and weren't able to get them, so we're now pivoting to players that improve our floor.

We wouldn't approach a player if they hadn't intimidated they would be open to coming here. Personally I don't get the criticism of the club for approaching quality players that would improve our first XI, even if it never payed off. Infact i'd rather us approach quality players first and then pivot, instead of just going for them players from the list below, it shows ambition and is not willing to settle. Something we where all craving for for 15 years.

It raises our floor, our ceiling is already pretty high, we have a really good first 11, it's top four quality really, our issue has been depth and has been for a few years, especially in the last Champions League campaign, our floor is pretty low. Signing someone who had 23 goal involvements last season as a backup/ rotational option is good business, especially for around £30m. More signings like this and we'll have a squad that can compete on multiple fronts, that's how it'll be transformational.

I disagree with this like, just comparing like for like signings: Elanga is atleast comparable to Madueke, Mbuemo and Kudus, while Cherki and Wirtz are quality players, and on paper are better players, the jury is still out on them, it they can adapt to the league etc. With Wissa, he's signing as a backup, it's not really comparable to striker signings the other clubs are making, they're signing first 11 players, we already have that player. Realistically you should be comparing Wissa to Nunez, Havertz and Richarlison. I think they're both really shrewd moves for different reasons.
