  1. Makes you wonder why Liverpool didn't just do that. Strange. Because they deemed him worth £35 million for there plans, we didn't. It's basic stuff. If you're trying to say it's not possibly to buy 3-4 footballers of Andy Carroll's quality for a combined sum of less than £35 million then I strongky suggest you take a look at some of the transfers over the past year, even withing our own team.
  2. Can people seriously not just wait till after the summer to critisise this transfer? 35 million is a lot of money, and if reinvested wisely we could land 3-4 players of Andy Carroll's quality. Yeah we'll probably never get another powerful target man like him again, but we can definatly use the money to improve the squad from what it was with AC.
  3. But he scored 3 goals against the European Champions man. 3 goals! Against the European Champions!!!
  4. no, we were offered 35 million man, why would Mike fight to hold onto 1 player for that ammount? Fro a fans point of view its hard to swallow, but you can hardly bollock the owner until its confirmed what the money has been used for
  5. Thought i'd google him to see what he's up to and this tickled me like He enjoyed a celebrity status in the British media as the self-proclaimed King of Chavs, a phrase that he emblazoned on his black Mercedes van. He spent his multi-million fortune on things such as illegal drugs, gambling and thousands of prostitutes over the next few years before going back to the £42 a week in jobseeker's allowance he had been earning before. He expressed no regrets. In a way I applaud him
  6. this should have been used in a "Jose Enrique Signs For Palermo" thread, absolutely uncanny
  7. His record speaks for itself, labeling the man as anything other than a genius should be a prosecutable offence, whether you can tolerate his ego is another matter. Personaly I fancy the fucker like.
  8. Aye i'm probably just rambling on a bit like, it just gets on my wik that people (usualy neutrals) completely ignore most footballers wrongdoings and yet pick up Barton on every minor fault. Nigel De Jong has broke 2 young footballers legs and drop kicked a bloke in the chest in the last year, and all I heard in the Liverpool/City game was how much City could have benefited from that wonderful football, Nigel De Jong. Thats good though, I don't expect what De Jong has done in the past to be constant burden over his head, the same as I would expect for any other footballer, Barton is an exeption though. Again i'm just rambling now like so i'm going
  9. November 2007 - Lucky to escape punishment for a dangerous challenge of Dickson Etuhuin the Tyne & Wear Derby, however as the referee had seen the incident no action could be taken. December 2007 - called newcastle fans 'vicious' after they protested against Sam Allardyce December 2007 - Arrested for assault while out in Liverpool after punching a man twenty times, May 2008 - he was given a 6 month prison sentence in which he served until July 28th. He also served a 6 game ban for his assault on Dabo with a further 6 game suspended ban. (air enough this happened at Man City but effected us too) October 2008 - Appeared to kick Gabriel Agbonlahor and also make a racist comment which he was cleared of (fair enough nothing came of this one) May 2009 - sent off for a dangerous tackle on Xabi Alonso which ruled him out for 3 matches, Barton allegedtly had a post match confrontation with Shearer & Dowie in the changing rooms. Barton was banned indefinitely by Newcastle and was told not to go near the training ground. November 2010 - punched Morten Gamst Pedersen in a match with Blackburn and was suspended for 3 matches for violent conduct December 2010 - appeared to make a homophobic gesture towards Fernando Torres during their game with Liverpool, received a warning from the FA So in otherwords, since he has been at Newcastle he has hit Pedersen and was locked up for something he done 3-4 years ago. The rest in bold are either overplayed bollocks or something we see on the field every week. He's basically a massive tw*t for punching someone twenty times in Liverpool, as he was our player then. He could and really should of served alot longer than he did inside. In my opinion (sorry Ronaldo im allowed one, k?) he needs to keep up performances for the rest of this and the whole of next season if he wants to begin to redeem himself with the fans. He's shown no indication what-so-ever that he will not keep up these performances, hence why I was slightly baffled when you claimed he had reverted back to the same old Barton after 1 below par performance (where if anything his downfall was trying a little too hard).
  10. There's no doubt he's a bit daft, but his career at Newcastle is nowhere near as colourful as people make out. Whats strange is Golden Boy Carroll, LIVERPOOL & ENGLAND DARLING has smashed a teamates jaw, battered his lass (maybe twice if the 2nd charge is to be believed), and glassed some kid in Blu Bamboo (all in the last few year), yet this has pretty much been completely forgoten, everyone loves him.

  12. 1 point more than Stoke for "Positive Play", i'm fucking speachless
  13. According to that we have made roughly £50 million post relegation (including Carroll sale), pre-relegation we invested roughly £5 million. All in all if we were to go by Mike Ashleys previous tenture in the premiership, all of the Carroll money AND more will be invested into the squad. (Ofcourse I realise that this is very unlikely, like.)
  14. Those are pre-Carroll I believe. Pre-relegation, this is Mike's transfer list (according to this site http://www.footbo.com/Teams/Newcastle/Transfers) The ones in bold represent who we know went for reletavely big money, the others are all speculation, or 3 million etc. The combined ammount in bold for bought is roughly £40 million, and sold is roughly £30 million. I don't know how accurate it is or anything, but pre-relegation he was hardly selling withought investing back into the squad. IN Nolan Taylor Jonas Guthrie Bassong Coloccini Xisco Tozer Viduka Barton Smith Rozenhal Enrique Faye OUT N'zogbia Given Rammage Carr Rozenhal Faye Milner Parker Bramble Sibierski Moore O'brien Gate Dyer Huntington Solano
  15. Take away the £35 million from the carroll sale (which may or may not be re-invested back into the club. we'll have to see), and those stats don't look anywhere near as nasty as they do there mind. Again factor in our relegation which required a bit of a fire sale and it is a bit of a myth, like. I don;t know what the net profit was for transfers during Ashleys reign before our relegation, but i'm sure it wasn't too bad.
  16. If Barton was signed before Ashley came then fair enough, still doesn;t detract from the fact it's a myth that Ashley has sold all of our players withough investing the money back into the club
  17. I'm a football supporter. I don't get any pleasure or interest whatsoever out of someone else's bank account. Football players aren't bought with pixie dust and dreams, you kna? No, they're bought with the money we got for Bassong, Milner, N'Zogbia, Given, Martins, Duff, Beye and years of season ticket money without a mortgage. Why is Carroll the only player whose transfer fee we're allowed to spend? Erm, we've signed Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Jonas, HBA to name a few, it's not like Mike has never signed a single player in his time here . Plus we were relegated which would have been bad money wise (Owners fault, aye, but still)

  19. He's living in a fantasy world. What's so fantastic about the idea of hanging on to one of the better strikers in the world?? If we're so desperate for cost-cutting, maybe the attention should be at Alan f***ing Smith and Ryan Taylor's wages - that's 80k or whatever for two players who have never performed for us. I'm guessing it's not as easy as just going "Can we slash your wages guys?" "Weyaye Mike, we'll play for nowt us man TOON TOON!!!", no-body wants to buy them, they don't want to leave, they don't want to take a pay cut, we cannot terminate there contracts withough paying them a load of compo etc etc.
  20. It's pretty easy to sit here and say "i'd tell them to fuck off", but £35 million to the chairman of a football club is ridiculous money, we can only hope all of the money is put into the club and non taken out.
  21. Guthrie is probably the most basic footballer i've ever seen, it's all good trying to maintain possession and playing the simple ball, but he takes it to an extreme level. Even if we don't get Ireland, we still need more boddies in midfield, I realy don;t want to go another season with Danny Gootrie and Ryan Taylor as our first choice back-up.
  22. Danny Guthrie also put in probably the worst perfomance of the season against West Brom. Seriously man, Ireland is on a completely differant level to Guthrie if he sorts his head out (which is ofcourse all if's and but's).
  23. A scenario to cover for every midfield injury (1 at a time like). No-matter which way you look at it it's better than Danny Guthrie slotting in. ------------------------------ Ireland Arfa Nolan Tiote Barton ------------------------------ Ireland Jonas Nolan Tiote Arfa ------------------------------ Arfa Jonas Nolan Tiote Barton ------------------------------ Arfa Jonas Ireland Tiote Barton ------------------------------ Jonas Arfa Ireland Nolan Barton ------------------------------
