Brighton are a really well run club but I cannot see them coming back from this like. It's absolutely brutal.
-
Probably in the same boat as everyone else in that I cannot stand Chelsea recently but I really like Potter I hope he’s undeservedly sacked after a short stint and takes a big job abroad.
-
Martins’ outrageous volley against Liverpool (off the bat from a throw in) due to how ridiculous a goal of would have been.
-
Think Potter will be great at any big club tbh, his style of football isn’t really suited to clubs without elite players (although it looks like it was starting to properly click at Brighton). He’s set up their with the wingbacks they have and Havertz is perfect for him up top.
-
Potter to Chelsea would be depressing like, not that we’ve done them much favours by poaching their technical director like. Really like his Brighton side.
-
Joelinton from a tight angle too, we weren’t too unlucky I don’t think (outside of the robbery) but on another day we definitely could have scored a couple.
-
I cannot imagine how shit someone's life must be for them to gloat over which decade a football team won a trophy in.
-
I doubt it’s anything more than internal bias tbh, there’s innumerable reasons why we would want teams we have no affiliation with to win or lose points, and it will obviously have an effect on how an official views an incident. It’s why I think having the officials in separate rooms voting on an outcome would be a lot fairer.
-
Until better tech comes in an easier way to sort offsides would be to judge the call from up to 1-2 frames before the ball is kicked (depending on the video speed), if there’s still any doubt within that timeframe the advantage goes to the defender.
-
It’s a blatant penalty.
-
Crooks is a national treasure like. Not even sure what to say to the idea there was “normal contact” on Willock like. They’re telling us grass is blue. At the point where I would full support a fan running onto the pitch and big booting an official like.
-
Give us the two points you robbed off us (Palace can keep their point) and we’re sweet for now.
-
Kev Lawson and Sanjay are both great imo, not sure what Kev is getting at with ‘data quality’ when he’s talking about 1 game like, you cannot get quality data from one game
-
Shagger Tindall should do the post-match interviews in games like that.
-
Never mind leaving a foot in, Madison stuck a foot out for their penalty against us last season The refs know the rules, they’re just selectively applying them/manipulating them. I don’t know why, but yesterday was about as concrete as you’ll get for showing it isn’t incompetence driving it.
-
But them needing ‘an excuse’ isn’t incompetence, it’s blatant cheating. It wasn’t a foul on Mendy.
-
No amount of incompetence can explain why anybody who watches football, never mind a professional referee, would view the Willock or Bowen 'fowls' in the way the VAR did. There are clearly other factors, whether it's just flat out corruption, inherent biases, or something else. I don't even think it's OTT to say we cannot reasonably continue the season in a weeks time without it being sorted out one way or another. It's killing the sport.
-
100% We’ve been very impressive with a squad that clearly needs more work. We should have at least 3 more points (a conservative number) but for the consistent use of VAR working against us.
-
On the pitch I agree, but VARs with the benefit of video? It cannot be incompetence? The decisions yesterday were clear cut, I don’t think I’ve seen a single person even be able to play devils advocate about any of them
-
Could do it multiple ways, each team could have X ammount of reviews a game, and declare which incidents they want to send off. VARs wouldn’t know which team sent off the clip though.
-
They’re professional referees, for all we can lament how shite they are incompetence of this level is extremely unlikely.
-
VAR should be done remotely by independent referees who aren’t in a room together and who have no context of the original call or the match score. Just get sent a clip to review and vote on the outcome. 10 referees or so, majority wins. At the end of each game they need to do a write up giving their perspective of each event they judged, which can be publicly viewed.
