  1. Scouse fans whining on Reddit about us holding him hostage, and how we are damaging our reputation to other potential signings. So long as half or near half of the fans of the buying club think they've overpaid, I'm happy for Isak to go anywhere. Harvey Eliott doing so well as a U21 player, and scoring more goals against PSG than the rest of the Liverpool squad, shows the lad is raring to go when actually given a chance in big games. There is also the elephant in the room of who we can actually convince to come to NUFC. There are alternatives but they'll all have "we know you've got 100M to spend" pricetags. In the U21s Eliott was way better than McAtee.
  2. fwiw, I would take 100M plus Harvey Eliott with no addons or sellons. Headline/PSR prices of 150M one way 50 the other. The previous U21 player of the tournament has done great for us.
  3. Nice move from the club. The only "card" that matters is Isak's contract. Liverpool are unlikely to win the league without adding a top striker. It's them who are desperate, not us. We only need to clear our PSR accounts by next June 30. We have multiple sellable assets to achieve that, were we to buy an Isak replacement and keep Isak due to the player refusing high bidders and Liverpool lowballing. Since our Wilson replacement, Wissa, can easily start, we can buy a development player as an Isak replacement. And not play Isak or play him if he eats humble pie. The club have played this well, and nowhere near as ineptly as was widely suggested.
  4. While its nice to get new players in early, the main thing is that you get there in the end. Wissa is a big step forward.
  5. For doubters, Isak has four goals in six games vs. Liverpool. Something similar against Arsenal. He was seventh fastest to 50 goals in Premier League history. Faster than Suarez, Henry, and Ageuro. If you cannot see value there, you do not understand football. His record sets his value, not some high and mighty "we never overpay" bollocks (see Nunez and Ekitike) from Liverpool fans.
  6. Does he talk like Steve McClaren?
  7. Mitchell slagged us for overpaying and the PSR debacle that cost Minteh and Anderson but was designed to cost us Bruno. Now we're getting slagged for not paying enough and not convincing players that we're better prospect for them than other clubs that are more famous and have been more successful in recent times. We go for ambitious, high-profile targets, fail, some say failure was coming a mile off, and then the same people kick off when lower profile targets (Wissa, McGinn etc.) get mentioned. They say we are "shopping like West Ham". Some things you just can't win. Whatever it is, I do not find it "embarrassing", unless you want to buy into Talksport mickey taking. Man U may have Sesko, but they're not in the CL. They'll have to improve a lot to get near us this season.
  8. What would a competent DOF have done with Trent and Konate at Liverpool? Is their DOF inept? They've been fucked over by two players. We've only been fucked over by one, who we'll still get a big fee for. On this evidence alone, Liverpool are more inept than us. Ekitike scored 15 from 22 xG in Bundesliga. City went to the same team and picked Marmoush for less money. Ekitike for that much is a much bigger overpay than Tino or Hall. Noone will say this on Talksport of course because they are all up Liverpool's arse.
  9. I doubt its real at this late stage, but that was one reason I though Sesko was taking so long with his "decision" between two clubs that on paper are less attractive than Arsenal, who were interested but claim that he messed them about earlier in the window. He was stalling for one last chance to see if anyone else might come in.
  10. Hasn't he revived his career twice after unsuccessful moves? Nkunku deffo has one at PSG.
  11. The price they paid in reality for Ekitike makes all that talk of "only fair value" nothing more than self aggrandizing bollocks. You have to be daft to believe it.
  12. Callum Wilson as bought would deffo be 50M plus, likely more than Wissa due to no AFCON. Look at what we paid for Osula. If we want a younger Wilson, the price goes much higher.
  13. Wilson at 28 would be 55M in 2025. The same ability but 24 would be more than Pedro and likely 70M plus. That's how much a Wilson replacement now costs. See Solanke and add 30% inflation.
  14. He completely changed the tie. They would have leveled (getting to 4-2 on the night) but their best chance fell to Konsa. One of the best games of last season.
  15. Ramos + Wissa + Gallagher or Guehi (all boosted with Eddiepower) for Isak. Do it!

    Malick Thiaw

Who was BDB playing for when he was 24?

    Yoane Wissa

    Only when attacking the Leazes!
  18. That BBC thing has three strikers in midfield and assumes we were seriously in for Cunha, Huijsen and Mbuemo. By this logic Huijsen also "rejected" Liverpool. File it as another example of how "impartial" the BBC actually is, versus what it loves to claim to be.
  19. Assuming Isak is not going, we need to move quickly otherwise Liverpool will buy our next striker target.
  20. If Liverpool had come in early and big, we could have replaced him without pennypinching on any bids for incoming replacements. They signed four other players before bidding on Isak. Instead Liverpool are just on a psyop to get him as cheap as possible, at a time when every other non-release clause player is going for a massive fee. So we should just knock the whole thing off and keep him. He'll be playing for his next deal somewhere, so he'll be motivated.
  21. He should join Real then, not Liverpool. 15 is 9 more than 6. Half the people Liverpool want also end up at Real, including the manager.
  22. The short story is Isak has screwed us over. We've been forced into a main striker chase that was completely unplanned. I'm guessing Wissa would have been done as third name on the "new Wilson" list after Delap and Pedro. Potentially losing Isak has sent our striker recruitment into disarray. Needing two means all kinds of different parameters come into play, how budget is allocated between them, what profiles might be complementary etc. etc.
  23. Man U buying Sesko and stopping Liverpool getting Isak would be pretty funny. Especially after Liverpool themselves bought another replacement in Ekitike.
  24. If anything, our striker targets have been improving. Pedro < Ekitike < Sesko We've not actually signed any of em, but are headed up not down market. Next step up would be who? Ramos?
  25. This summer has taken the piss, like. How little extra money would we need from PSG to give them Isak for Ramos? It must be low enough for Isak to sound a bargain.
