  1. Alex Hammond loves a winning short priced favourite! Cracking!
  2. Gosling on the right is not a great prospect if his Everton performances are anything to go by. Hey ho though, let's make the team as slow as possible... not to mention increasing the chance of Smith getting games at CM. Does seem like we must have someone in the pipeline to let Routledge leave as he is our only player aside from Jonas tha has any sort of pace. We would have nothing on the bench now in terms of pace to try and change the game or improve our game in the 2nd half. Routledge came on against Wigan and his pace was a real threat, tore their left back to pieces. Let's hope Pardew knows what he is doing and has a better quality player coming in...
  3. In the sense that the fan's get on Jonas' back like they did with Robert. Two frustrating players. Does something poor in the game and you can hear the abusive shout outs and groans go right through the ground.
  4. Laurent Robert. Hmm, people could question his work-rate but his ability wasn't in doubt imo. Laurent Robert was another favourite of mine (still love him) like Jonas the fans used him a scapegoat when things aren't going well. Robert was the opposite of Jonas in which he had a gifted left foot which could strike a cracking ball in or effort on goal although it wasn't always the most consistant, his work rate however was nowhere near in the same league as Jonas' however they both share the attacking minded approach to the game who loved to be direct and try and beat a man for pace or skill. They both shared a brilliant partnership with their left back, Enrique/Jonas, Bernard/Robert, both these partnerships are fantastic and neither player seem as good when the other one is missing.
  5. I also think Tim Krul is top draw goalkeeper but obviously he is another one the fan's seem to love to turn on.
  6. Yeah i think Enrique and Jonas is a top draw partnership and don't think there is much better quality aside from the top 4ish teams. The way they both work together and feed off each other is a joy to watch. My favourites are Colo, Enrique and Jonas. Obviously Tiote is brilliant but still his first season here, Barton is just starting to show his true colours, Carroll is also coming on leaps and bounds and is looking like another Geordie hero but obviously the jury still remians out weather he is going to stay past the summer of 2011.
  7. Who's your favourite players then Roger, can't say i expect too many suprises here...
  8. He was excellent at Wigan. I guess it's not part of the zeitgeist to praise tyneside's latest scapegoat though. Wouldn't expect anything less to be honest. Praise the rest of the team and blame everything else on Jonas.
  9. Missed him and Enrique massively against Stevenage. Far better attacking team with them two bombing down the left together!

    Alan Pardew

Of course Pardew wasn't saying we lost mainly due to Tim Krul's kicking. Krul had another poor game albeit he was beaten by a 3rd/4th deflection in as many games which is very unfortunate. Pardew would have been asked about Krul or had been talking about the player's and they've picked out Krul for the article. Pardew hardly came out in the press conference after the game and slated Krul, he blamed the fact we were tired and never matched their tempo and hunger for the win.
  11. Tim Krul is a top goalkeeper, he is only 22 and has plenty of time to learn, he's shown more than enough quality for us and out on loan that he has what it takes to make it at the highest level, he has obviously made errors since coming in for Harper but he has also made some outstanding saves. He can only learn from his mistakes that have crept out like against Man City when looking to pick out JB with a dangerous ball and not having the correct angle for the goals against Spurs when not getting down quick enough. Surely we can forgive a few errors though with such a young keeper rather than criticise him and pick out his weakness' which im sure he is working on to improve.
  12. Funny thing is i know if Barton does the same on Sunday everyone will be screaming at the ref and singing Joey's praises for his commitment!
  13. I'm not saying the ref was a joke by sending him off or i would appeal but i just think the game is not going in the right direction when you can't jump into a 50-50 tackle early in the game in a derby! I'd have no complaints if he barton went flying in on cattermole or whatever, take the passion and fight out of the game and your left with nothing. Carrick was up soon as Gerrard was down the tunnel and played the rest of the match yet he was lying on the floor like he had been shot. You can see from both ref's why the red was given due to the two feet coming off the floor but sometimes you need to do that when your travelling at such speed and the momentum takes you through. I remember early in the season think it was Joe Cole's first game, he dived to block a clearance going up the line and he followed through and caught the defender and got a red, it wasn't even a tackle! Spoiling the game!

    Jose Fonte

He's that good that in order for Palace to hold onto him they signed his brother to keep him happy What a player!
  15. I don't think any of them were red cards. Gerrard dived in but so what, its a derby game, 1 down, 50-50 tackle, Carrick beat him to the ball and he wiped into Carrick, absolute joke football is becoming when you can't even jump into a 50-50 tackle. Tiote just came on, trying to force the game back into Newcastle's favour, Stevenage on break so he sweeps across and jumps into the tackle and wins the ball back without even heardly touching the player, superb tackle even though if he missed the ball he could have wiped the player out but he didnt.
  16. Well Dagliesh hardly gave the Howard Webb a vot confidence behind the sending off, he was furious! So i imagine he will stick in an appeal.
  17. At the same time Gerrard's won't get overturned either which i don't think will do Tiote any favours because both of them jumped in with two feet commiting the same offense albeit gerrard never touched the ball but it was more the passion of the game that forced him into the tackle...stilll a horrible dirty cunt though

    Joey Barton

'His name's Joey Barton and he loves the toon, his name's Joey Barton and he loves the toon, everybody needs a nutter in the middle, everybody needs a nutter' Not a chance of JB moving from the tooooooon!
  19. Not a chance will the FA overturn this red card! Tiote put in a brilliant well timed tackle however dangerous it looked or was with feet coming off the floor, however the FA will state both feet came off the floor for the tackle which is deemed dangerous and cause serious damage which is a red card offense by Law. I can't remember the last time a player got sent off for a two footed tackle and even if he did win the ball and not touch the player get it overturned. However if God is a Geordie....
  20. Lambert is 4/5 fave. Not sure why he would want to move from Norwich to there doing canny job already, should just try and push for promotion with them rather than take the job at Burnley who are mid table.
  21. Gary Megson next manager of Burnley is what i have heard. Was 20/1 yesterday.

    Sebastian Larsson

So what about when Jonas has the ball and Enrique doesnt move away from him to make a run and the fans urge him to drive past so he can get the ball, surely if they both are more comfortable with short exchanges with each other then one decides to cut inside or which ever option they choose is for the best rather than urging them to do thigns differently. The left sided partnership of them two is one of the strongest areas we have and where a lot of our attacks are based through that partnership. Both of them are up and down, both can drive at players, both capable of beating there man, final product isn't great but they are both far more dangerous at running into the box and looking for the cut back or pen.

    Sebastian Larsson

which jonas you been watching, he rarely uses his pace and is as direct as a tourists taxi. he wont leave joses side evenwhen he has yards in front of him. Jonas and Jose have one of the best left sided partnerships in the prem they both blend well together, jose never has as good a game without jonas and visa versa, they both use each other very effectively. You say Jonas isn't direct but against Wigan who was the player in the 88th minute making 40 yard runs with ball beating men to go the corner flag then to win a free kick with a bit of trickery in the corner? Clever hard working phase of play which couldn't have taken place without the burst of pace and commitment for the team. The only way big hard ben suceeded on wednesday night from stopping Jonas was to kick him everytime he got the ball, as Shane ferguson realised when he took his place.
