Why not sign a goalkeeper who is a definite upgrade on Dubravka (i.e. unambiguous top six quality) or wait until one becomes available? That should be the general mindset behind squad improvement this summer across the board.
-
Not sure that he's better than Dubravka at all.

Embarrassing stuff, couldn't imagine wanting to write an article like this (at a time there is such a feel-good factor around the club, especially).

Bullshitter account I think, thankfully

For me, Burn's decision making (positioning in particular) has been suspect on occasion, and Schar's use of the ball has been invaluable in transitioning to a style which is approaching the way Howe wants us to play. I think we should be aiming to challenge the top six next season and Burn is further from being a top six centre half than Schar is overall imo. Burn was a great signing though all things considered, no doubt about that.

Would much rather see Schar + an upgrade on Burn as a first choice pairing, personally.

Class again today, showing the kinds of qualities which led to him becoming such a valuable player under Rafa.

Henderson would be underwhelming, not convinced he's even as good as Dubravka as things stand. Looked good at Sheffield United under Wilder in part because of their defensive setup, similar to the way that goalkeepers enhance their reputation at Burnley (low block, limiting of space, inviting long-range efforts from the opposition). Aside from that, there's little evidence right now that he's a top six level goalkeeper - and that's the level we should be looking at if we're looking to improve on Dubravka (imo, not a priority this summer).

Will always have fond memories of his time here under Rafa, wish him all the best

The Bruno cameo "He needs to stay"

4-5 signings at the level of Bruno and Trippier and there's no reason we can't be in the conversation for the top six. We've already shown form this season which suggests we aren't far away from the likes of Leicester and West Ham. We want to be setting our ambitions for the upcoming season as high as they possibly can be, not because of unrealistic expectations but because that's the mindset of a buoyant and ambitious club which is on the ascent. The results against Liverpool and Man City don't really hold much significance in relation to any of that, either.

They were hardly given an opportunity to prove themselves at Chelsea from which anyone could arrive at any kind of conclusion, it's a disingenuous comparison. Aside from age (which is definitely a factor to consider), players who have demonstrated they don't fit the ambitions of the top clubs should be left for mid-table clubs to pursue if they want, we should aim higher.
-
Should be a hard policy of no "big six" cast offs imo.

Great read. loving the articles that are coming out around the club at the moment.
-
Pure silk, can see why him and Bruno would have such a great understanding

Love that Reminded me of this gem from Florian Lejeune a few years back:

Upgrading not a priority as I see it for this summer, would rather the funds were used elsewhere. Especially as the quality of all the GKs linked in recent months has been really underwhelming imo. -
Deserves credit for his performances of late, for sure.
