You could definitely make a case for one of Distin/Jagielka alongside one of MYM/Colo for partnership reasons. Wouldn't have both ; I think our defensive problems are more organisational than quality related. Debuchy has been scapegoated a fair bit recently, but Coleman had a great game against us so you're possibly right on that one at the moment.

Apart from the obvious inclusions of Baines and Lukaku, I don't think many Everton players are better than those in our first XI.

  4. He's at least twice as good.
  5. Other races probably do. Any mentioning of race in a joke doesn't make it a joke with some sort of malicious or derogatory intention behind it.
  6. thought we dominated them in the first half and could easily have been another couple of goals up. We definitely deserved to be in front, and kept hold of the ball well, but our lack of movement + unwillingness to attack in numbers was still evident to me, at times. Perhaps watching the Everton-Man City game earlier in the day altered my expectations of the game a bit.
  7. Didn't think we were that great in the first half. Passed the ball around well but the problems we have with movement and attacking play were still apparent for me, albeit not as much as in other games this year. Tired of seeing balls hopefully lofted in and around the box as soon as a player gets in the final third. Cardiff were terrible for most of the game, even when we invited them onto us in the second half. That, combined with the fine form of Remy, was the main reason for our win today.
  8. Man U winning largely through individual ability and the lack of quality in the opposition. Just like us earlier.
  9. Hoping for as heavy a defeat as is necessary for Pardew to get the sack.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

It really is as simple as that he's playing under a manager who cannot get the consistent best out of him beyond Ben Arfa choosing to cut inside and shoot. I was shaking my head in disbelief at the weekend when I listened to 606 and the presenters said it was "baffling" that the players who'd walked the title now looked so poor under a different manager, when to me that's not baffling in the slightest, in fact I'd only have been baffled if that hadn't happened. The manager is by far and away the most important person at any football club. Everything the team does, from movement to mentality, comes from that one man and we've got a League 1/League 2 standard manager in charge of Premier League players. People can have a pop at the players all you like but put Pardew into any of the other 19 clubs in the division and in three years time, I'll show you what you watched tonight. Great post.
  13. Has been for a while. Santon was far worse tonight, but, as ever, our primary problem is in the dugout- hence the lack of organisation in the whole team.

They'd probably chant "Alan Pardew's black and white army". f***s sake.

    Alan Pardew

Baines and Lukaku aside, there aren't many Everton players who I would have in our first XI. However, the men on the touchline are worlds apart and it is showing. Sick of this moron, and sick of watching NUFC at the moment. Would love to see what someone like Martinez could do with our team.
  16. Seems like that Australian manager was right about their setup. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jun/03/sheffield-united-branded-prehistoric
  17. Me too, but we could do better. Really? Who else has ran a team on a budget and had them consistently around the European places? The job he did at Everton was fantastic, right now that kind of success and longevity is light years away from us. He did a good job at Everton, no doubt, but the extent to which it can be called 'fantastic' is debatable. There have been plenty of murmurings of discontent with Moyes over the years from Everton fans, and he usually finished about where you would expect them to with the squad they have. I think Martinez will show that the job Moyes did at Everton wasn't as fantastic as some may think. He has silverware to his name, too. Most importantly, Moyes' tactics and philosophy have been exposed a lot already this season, even in the first game against Swansea. I don't think he would get the best out of the players we have, even though he would basically guarantee a top 10 finish.
  18. Loaned to Dijon. Would have liked to have seen more of him.
  19. Moyes isn't close to being good enough for Man U. WBA have done some good business, bar the panic signing of Anichebe. Could be comfortably upper mid table again this year.
