  1. Haven't been impressed with Rooney for Man Utd either for a while, tbh. He looked ridiculously dangerous 5 years ago, but he's nowhere near that now. A very good, functional player with a very occasional moment of brilliance. To me, that represents a below-par state of affairs considering the insane natural talent he showed when he was younger. He scored 37 goals and 6 assists last season in 44 games and 10 goals and 7 assists in 17 games so far this season.... all in a deeper role not sure how much more dangerous he could be. In fact if you go back 5 years he was nowhere near as effective as he is now he might have been more flashy but not more dangerous or effective. I don't deny Ferguson has traded ability on the ball for effectiveness but i don't think he's less dangerous than he was 5 years ago to me if anything he's more dangerous as he's a much bigger goal threat and there's nothing more dangerous in football than scoring goals. He's not the only player to have done this either, look at Messi and Ronaldo they don't run past people like nothing as regularly as they use to but they are more dangerous in front of goal. Everyone talks about Van Persie last season and how great he was but he only just pipped Rooney to the golden boot i think his week in week out contribution is a bit understated in this country nowadays tbh. Bit like Bale he has suffered IMO because the media went absolutely over the board with his hype and now seems a bit underrated to me. Adjective overboard excessive; too much
  2. I always mix that one up myself. Clubs are singular in Spanish too. That's fine. Americans need to learn English though. There should be a thread for this...
  3. Typified by the saying "flawed genius". There hasn't been a player before or since that captured the nation's imagination like him. On his day he was anything he wanted to be. Literally carried Spurs to an FA Cup final on his own in 91. Aye, brilliant player, heart of gold, self-destructive daftie. Could tear teams apart on his own. That 91 FACF he just got so over-excited and should have been sent off for the challenge on Parker before he managed to injure himself with the one on Charles. It's horrible watching this slow-motion car-crash of a life with an inevitable conclusion. Sigh.
  4. Football wasn't live on TV much, it was the World Cup, it was Brazil, Jairzinho was in cracking form, Bobby Moore had captained us to the trophy just four years before so was a legend, it was a perfectly timed tackle. Mostly because of all that. We lost anyway and Jairzinho scored EDIT: Aye, what Northerngimp said.
  5. Was just a wild punt tbh The only one better I can think of was the sidefoot 25 yard volley v Villa. But I still enjoyed the one against you more. He just smacked the ball for that free kick in the 3-5 against us as well. Absolute luck it went in the top corner, could have gone anywhere. Most of Shearers strikes were lucky tbf, all power. 409 lucky goals. Just smacking it in the direction of the net every time. The lucky, lucky bastard.

He went to Palace in the end didn't he? aye- just wikid it, 15 games 5 goals- had a longer spell at derby- maybe he did ok in top flight there? They were Div 2 weren't they? Lower league scuffler tbh.

I think Bennett's even worse tbh. Both seem sensible compared to the utter tripe Horswill used to trot out on the "Legends" like. Can't believe I'm almost defending Gabbiadini here.
  8. This place has become a point of reference for about ten people I know. They're browsing it themselves now. They're Swedish and don't even support Newcastle. ONE OF US ONE OF US Gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you! Ramones, man. Class.
  9. I agree to a large extent. He has done his best, which isn't good enough for some, but that is all he has, and all we had. His lifestyle choices seem wrong for what he does for a living, but we all make mistakes. I expect he will have a long time to think about this later. I'm not going to preach about that for obvious reasons. Would be interested to hear who fancied their chances against you, though. I thought you were a big lad. I've always talked my way out of that sort of situation, or, more accurately, not put myself there in the first place. Cluck, cluck, whatever.
  10. That's very subjective though and everyone thinks they're in the right. We've all had a few drinks, etc., calm down, calm down.

Apparently there's some sad mackem who counts up how many times they say the words "Newcastle" and "sunderland" and sends in his stats to prove bias. On Radio Newcastle, which they have to mention in every promo.

    He's definitely rattled like.
  13. News to me. Always regarded a wink as mildly friendly, no variation whatsoever Went off on a rant then didn't post. As I understand it, if some f***er winks at you, they're saying they know more than you do, and they're telling you that smugly. Never any need for smug winking imo. Probably wouldn't immediately punch the offending eye out, but would cross the smug winker off my "don't punch" list. Like I punch people. I'd probably just mutter "What the f*** is the matter with that twitching t***?" What do you do if someone smiles at you ? Think they coming onto you and nut 'em ? I'd miss anyway. I'd look behind me to see who they were really smiling at tbh.
  14. Will do more of this if I can in future. Thanks for the heads-up mate!
  15. They do? I think we should give him the rest of the week off, tell him to go out for a few drinks with his mates and let his hair down a bit. Maybe get himself a takeaway? TBI is serious business tbh. World is just full of morons and low lifes and this incident is evidence of that. Traumatic Brain Injury? Yeah, pisses me off to watch cop shows where a blow on the head is just like a little sleep. That can kill or incapacitate you. No joke. You hit someone in the head, they can die or be crippled, and that's on you. That's me agreeing angrily!

I'd probably just mutter "What the fuck is the matter with that twitching twat?"

  18. Christ, I'm having trouble understanding people today. Doesn't bode well. Which Taylor, what about him, and what's wrong with winking?
  19. Don't think that's a bad thing presented with a casualty at 4am in Manchester city centre tbf. Hands up, I'm not a doctor, like, but finding out if they're alive might be a start. I'm probably missing something, aren't I? What is it?

Their obsessions with us being obsessed is bordering on obsessive, even though most of us aren't obsessed. Obsessed.
  21. They had to get his face in the picture, man. Priorities...
  22. Nope. But they are heartless vultures, wouldn't expect any more of the circling twats tbh.
